See when a Celtic player makes a howler, why are they not getting a rollicking from Brown?

    ————

or , indeed, RD or JC..?

  2. Very poor last 5 mins

No real team shape and to many passengers

Our right side carries no threat and is vulnerable.

Our tempo shape and passing all poor.

  3. Agree that Commons needs to work an awful lot harder.

It’s difficult to be too harsh as in the final third some of the play has been good. However, for too many of our players the second touch is a tackle.

  4. I’m not Beran Kayal’s biggest fan, but I really don’t see what Johansen brings to the midfield. I’d have Beram in the team before Stefan on current form.

Hopefully he’ll make me eat my words in the second half though!!

  5. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

Sounds like the season so far in a 45 minute slice; some good, some bad.

What the team are trying to achieve remains elusive.

  6. Ambrose at right back really thwarts our productivity down that side. He can’t move the ball out from his feet quick enough to get by a man or play an intricate pass. It’s not his fault. It’s not his game. But it means if McGregor is going to create anything it’s likely to be a moment of brilliance, slack defending or electrifying pace which he doesn’t have.

True, but Brown is right there beside them and is meant to be setting the standard, no?

  8. One thing ….. Going back a decade ….

If Larsson…Sutton… Lambert…macnamara ANYBODY… Made any of the loose passes that have been simply accepted by our team tonight ….

They’d have 3 or four teammates shouting at them DEMANDING better .

Scott Brown MUST start demanding BETTER from teammates … It’s HIS job

  9. Burst pipe kept me and a disappointed wee lad from the game. Are we missing much? Hmm.

Guidetti looks the biz – his body movement to get in for the first missed chance was superb; awareness and guile.

Broon – his presence is vital; a leader.

Johansen – sorry, no Wanyama; lightweight, maybe too lightweight for anything other than SPL. flatters to deceive

Izzy – yet ANOTHER inside pass causes mayhem and nearly a goal; great going forward but my God, there’s a mental block when it come sto defensive caution.

McGregor – far too casual; no impact yet.

Stokes – best position is old-fashioned inside-left. Most creative in there (remember the Karagandy winner made from such a position).

Another 2 to kill them off before the inevitable draw pitching us against the Zombies.

  10. Heart-stopping howler aside, Izzy has been superb tonight. He and Stokes MUST occupy that left hand side in Ronny’s 4-2-3-1.

Mcgregor looking a bit out of things, and Johansen is what he’s usually been – poor. Are running & rushed interceptions the only things he does well? Long range passing sure ain’t.

Guidetti looks a finisher and a tough lone striker – him I like!

Commons playing well, despite 4-2-3-1 not suiting him. His intelligence enables him to react coolly to Hearts’, ahem, unorthodox defending.

  11. Izzy was short wi the pass back

then he comes off the patch waving

    to the fans?!?!

    Stokes is a chooky. imho

Kojo is right about Denayer – take him off.

    But,……what about this……

    Brillliant, brilliant, brilliant just, brilliant!!!

    Off oot tae work, bye.

  12. Tricoloured Ribbon on

Every challenge Denayer makes here is filling me with fear. One false move and he’s walking.

  13. i’m still not happy with this team format – we don’t have the players for it and it all stems from midfield. The closest we have is Biton as an anchor man. Get brown on the right and bit on in the middle. The only time we look didid in the midfield is when VVD moves up .

Happy we are winning but very worried about our shape and lack of improvement there. All our issues stem from this!

  14. Johansen has an engine. When he came I thought ‘Brown with more going forward’ but Brown has improved his technical ability and Johansen seems to have lost any creativity he had, and is a bit of a weakling in the tackle to boot. Needs to bulk up.

  15. You can definitely see what Ronny is trying to achieve, but it’s square pegs in round holes out there at times.

  16. dr ramesh and the love potion on

    Thunder Road

    20:04

This is the key. Efe doesn’t really link up well with anyone and Mcgregor is still learning his trade. On the opposite side we have Stokes and Izzy who know each other’s game and the difference is stark. I believe that we arre on the right track but it will take time for players to know each other and the new system.

My other thought is that Johansen needs a rest. his passing has been awful for weeks and doesn’t merit a place in the team at the moment. Both Kayal and Bitton have been much better recently

  17. Izzy our best player, almost ruined it with unnecessary back pass. Combining very well with Stokes all our best moves came from that area, Brooney doing well, Guidetti looking good, could have had a hat-trick. Kris doing very little, McGregor poor.

  18. McGregor is Being Played..

    Way, Way ,Way..oot.

    Of Position.

We need Jamesy .. He is Missed Very, very , Very,

    Badly..

We wull be a Different Side.. ( Fur the Bettah!)

when we get.. Wee Jamesy Back..

    that is Ma AIN Opinion.

Naebuddy else …is Allowed tae Use It..

    It’s Mine! Mine!

    Awe Mine!

    Kojo

  19. A simple 442 is needed with Broonie playing infront of back four Johansonn on the left mcgregor right and commons up top of a diamond stokes and Guidetti up top

  20. Apart from the opening 5 minutes, we have dominated and pegged Hearts back.

However, our old failings are back and they have nothing to do with a midfield being over-run. If we do not convert a higher percentage of the openings we make, we will always be vulnerable to the loss of possession as we come out of defence (not in midfield).

We can never be confident of keeping a clean sheet so we need to score, at least, two to win these days.

  21. Stokes’ strength is in his link up play in tight areas. The partnership with Izzy shows this and he has the same with commons when they get close. When they don’t they both struggle and maybe that’s what Commons has being missing.

“True, but Brown is right there beside them and is meant to be setting the standard, no?”

    Agreed –

Frankly if anyone of them did it I’d be happy.
