    Unequivocally wrong!

Its very likely the first Celtic teams were wholly catholic. Given the foundations not surprising at all.

But if you read the histories, from very early moves to recruit ONLY Catholics were rejected and more than once.

5 guys, aged early 20’s- not teenagers, sitting about 10 seats from me, section 137, singing themselves for first 10 mins, they then moved up to back of JS to join a bigger group who were trying to sing. That’s when the stewards moved in, totally out of order. A group of fans tried to stop the stewards going up to them, all they were doing was singing. Mid way through 2nd half, one guy walked over to the 2 cops, who were recording the singing group, took out his phone & stood in front of the cops & recorded them for a good minute or so, at one point they took his phone off him to view pictures. He went back to his seat to a large applause.

I have no idea who is authorising this treatment/harassment of our fans, but all they are going to do, is drive a massive wedge between fans & club. Incensed by what i saw today and i am not talking about the football.

  4. Ah ok – been a few years since I read The Story Of Celtic (was it board members then- sure we excluded non catholics for 5 years? Anyone help on this?). Still waiting Ernie……

There was a time in the early sixties when we were getting the reputation for playing only Catholics. Bob Kelly was so concerned that he released a statement denying it and by way of confirmation added that we had just signed a young non Catholic player by the name of Tommy Gemmell.

It is my guess that there was 18,000 today.

The Morton and Arbroath crowds were (in my estimation on those days ) about 10-12,000. There was a bigger crowd today, no doubt and I stated that.

I took some time to gauge Celtic Park this afternoon: The main Stand was 2/3 full; the LL and JS looked to have 1/4. The North stand a little more and I put that at about 7,000.

    Hence the 18,000

Dear oh dear oh dear.. your crowd estimates are as accurate as your usual upthera I hate everyone that doesnt agree with me BORING BORING essays, There was little to no support for your precious bhoys of the new brigade today. Take that as a starter for 10 to go away and leave this club to those who love it .

  9. I found it strange that a ‘political’ banner was allowed at the Milan game. The club have been checking banners for months upon entry to the stadium and I’ve been told that the liaison officer was alerted to this one days before the game.

  10. Just in to say….

Buy a SB = Vote the ‘bored’ in

Don’t buy a SB = Sack the ‘bored’

Singing Cellic songs n waving banners

will lead to the stadium being shut- doon.

But, when that happens – ye can always

console yerself wi the knowledge that

the ‘bored’ canny get stealin awe yer money :)

Oh, and, I know I’ll be in the minority here but

I’ve been in there before so – I’ll say this before

I leave – Celtic died as soon as Fergus pulled

I will 2nd that, giving up supporting Celtic is not a option for me either but what I will do is not renew my season ticket next year and will buy tickets match to match when I’m home ( work offshore so miss a lot of home games ) I’m also in the home cup scheme and get tickets that I can’t use but still take so I won’t miss anymore games but I won’t be paying for games I can’t get to and it’s not because of the money because I’m lucky enough to have a good job it’s because I want the board out and won’t give them a penny more than I have to the treatment of Celtic supporters inside Celtic park is shocking and has been for some time and it’s getting worse, I will also stop buying the merchandise which I spend a few quid on and I’m sure I won’t be alone.

    Good evening all

After a horrendous day of weather, I arrived at the ground with the back of my trousers absolutely wringing.

Like the good old days in the Jungle…:-)

Pleeez don’t remind me!!! To be honest, this moving of the bus park to accommodate the posh guys, well, sometimes I wonder more about that with the hierarchy at the club. Money, apparently talks. At the end of the day, who gives a shoite if the weather is moderate. :))

when the polis recorded images in section 111 it was unlikely to have any minors in that section however if they are filming images in other sections of the stadium then it’s likely that children will be getting recorded, I’m pretty sure that there are laws against this.

  18. My dad always said that Celtic folk are never happy when they haven’t got stuff to moan about. Being in a position of ascendancy doesn’t sit well with them.

Clearly the clubs current position of dominance, having been well run against a backdrop of cheating and malpractice by our leading rivals, has given some of our perpetual malcontent ‘faithful’ too much dominance and not enough to rebel against.

The thought if 50 legitimate leagues and a generation of dominance holds little appeal vs rebelling against anything or anyone….. Conspiracies everywhere.

Most will be happy when normal service resumes a d we are moaning about our ascendent rivals who at this rate will be back in front aligned behind their cause sooner rather than later.

    Reap as you sow.

  19. Ernie, justafan – just to clarify, all I am asking is…. what is your position if the club and GB come to a compromise, but the GB pull out a political banner again, leading to another larger fine or part of the ground being closed. It’s a simple question really

  20. No Apologists

Read your earlier response to my post. I wasn’t passing judgement on anyone. Just explaining my own feelings and my dislike of people infecting the blog during match time. I have supported Celtic a long time and I can’t think of a time when the club were in better shape. I think the board can take some of the credit for that. There’s just too many of todays fans looking for a soap box to spout their nonsense. If it wasn’t the board or the GB crusade it would be something else. Some folks are just never happy

there were a few u’16’s in section 111. The videoing is ridiculous and I’ve asked the officers doing it on two occasions, is it really needed; they didn’t have much patience for me.

  23. It always amuses me, which admittedly fades to anger, when those who hold a contra view to, let’s call them the establishment, are told to shut up and go elsewhere. You could even suggest that is the instinctive response from the establishment when expressions of discontent are made from those who have applied some thought to why they are aggrieved on any particular issue. You could even suggest those whose outlook on life generally dictates that they are naturally drawn to Celtic, with a belief that opinions can be freely expressed, debate should be encouraged, no single opinion is more valid than others and everyone, regardless of origin, belief, class, gender or designation in life, are entitled to participate in a discussion, are more often than not those who are on the receiving end of this instinctive response from the establishment.

If you don’t like it, go back to Ireland. Ever heard that when you attempt to reason?

What depresses me tonight is the number of bloggers, entitled as they are to their opinion, who instinctively and without applying any degree of rationale, bark at those expressing dissatisfaction, demanding they should shut up and go elsewhere. Elsewhere might even be another forum where debate is stifled and expression of a contra view is strictly and very rigidly prohibited. But I can’t think of where such a controlled and poisonous place may exist……….You certainly don’t expect to describe a Celtic forum in such terms.

It’s my view that CQN is a very accurate gauge of reality in terms of the opinion of Celtic supporters as a whole. There are many different views, but it appears very clear to me there is growing discontent with the current strategy of the board in terms of their interpretation of what is acceptable treatment of supporters. Those who deny there is a problem need only attempt to acknowledge there may be some accuracy in the numerous reports of mistreatment of Celtic supporters inside the stadium today.

In picking a fight with its own support, the Celtic board are providing those who demand we shut up and go back to Ireland with an opportunity beyond their wildest dreams to deflect from their own self inflicted shambles. It didn’t need to happen this way. There could have been recognition that opinions can be freely expressed, debate should be encouraged, no single opinion is more valid than others and everyone, regardless of origin, belief, class, gender or designation in life, is entitled to participate in a discussion.

For those on this blog who don’t like to hear these things, we only say it because we care, very deeply. Any perceived temporary harm will be a tiny fraction of the long term benefit achieved if the desired outcome of a united Celtic family is realised.

  24. midfield maestro on

You are probably correct. I am quite sure there are bloggers on here who could give a proper legal view on recording of minors at match.

At one point today, a father with his toddler in his arms objected to the stewards during the recording/harrassment. No idea what he was objecting to.

Honest, i did watch most of the game & not the ridiculous stewarding near me.

  25. Why am i not surprised at the venom being
