Don’t worry about that. It probably was a bit cheeky of me.

I got in to the ground an hour before kick off yesterday and also last week at Inverness and watched our goalie warming up and going through his drills. He is obviously a decent enough keeper however…

    19 shots resulting in 14 goals…pretty dreadful.

Last week we were sitting behind the flight of the ball at the Inverness opener. We thought he’d made a good save and from his reaction so did Dorus. If he’d moved his feet before making the ‘save’ the ball would have gone where he thought he’d put it i.e. over the bar.

Yesterday I believe that the Killie player only had a go because they knew Dorus is low on confidence. I was watching him more than the play when the shot came his way and he was slow to react. It caught him completely by surprise. Failed to move his feet.

For several of the goals, including the one scored by the zombie side, and yesterday, and Inverness, and the free kick in Barcelona he was slow to move his feet. That mean he doesn’t have much of a chance to save what’s coming his way.

Brendan used the injury scare as a smoke screen. He can’t rely on the former Forest POTY in the Champions League against a team like Man City. We could lose 7 again.

With our noise and a stuffy defence and a decent goalie we have weapons to threaten them. Swansea could have won yesterday until they conceded a soft penalty.

I went onto the Forest forums to see what they were saying about DDV, not exactly overwhelming there. They were listing his errors and saying they always seem to get beat when he plays! Other keepers were all young boys etc so he was a stop gap signing.

He may become a decent goalie for Celtic but his confidence is completely shot. No way near good enough to play on Wednesday.

  2. its what they do on the park that matters.

    Previous reputations mean very little.

Well done to Brendan Rodgers and his team yesterday.

Dembele ,Tierney and Sviachenccko deserve special mentions.

Sviachencko’s won a hard fought battle with Kris Boyd ,which allowed Simunovic to stroll through the match.

I can’t remember the last time I was so entertained at Celtic park.

The corresponding fixture last season finished 0-0.

Also the Killie goal is a strong contender for goal of the season.

DDV could do nothing about it.

He was virtually on his line and still had no chance.

  3. Don’t usually find humour on any of the new clubs blogs….but…..

From RM earlier…..really did make me lol….

If you have ten minutes or so to spare, check no. 17 on this list.

It says it’s the Simpson tackle on Durrant. It isn’t.

The huns kick Aberdeen off the park, they get some back, win 3-0 and the huns invade the pitch.

Shocking stuff,I hadn’t seen it before.

Third goal is a peach too.

  5. GLASSTWOTHIRDSFULL @ 7:09 PM,

Thx… I remember a couple of Seasons ago having a chat about Scottish Football with an elderly Everton fan.

Being from Liverpool he knows the score regarding the “old firm”. He says, you looking forward to playing Rangers again in the League.

Now I believe this chap had a secret Rangers affiliation… so I’ve always been careful with our conversations in that regard.

But I said… ‘Well it’s not ceryain, I thnk they’ll struggle to get past Motherwell’…

His face said it all… “Chairbhoy, you really are a bitter Tim”.

It was interesting having the “told you so” conversation after Sevco had been stuffed 6-1 on aggregate.

You can see why a person like him wiuld assume Sevco = Rangers = the best in Scotland.

But why reporters, conmentors and pundits, who know what have happened, who have watched Sevco play can still promote this is beyond me… but the fact is the vast majority still believe that Sevco should be competing for number one spot in Scotland and this middle table nonsense is the result of something going amiss.

The reality is… if they want a “Strong Rangers” the powers that be, their fans, the pundits et al, will need to find £15-20 M to give Sevco every January from now to the forseeable future to keep the pretence going.

    GREENPINATA :)))))

You know, you maybe onto something… it is as if a hoodoo has been lifted as Mr Karma is smiling on us…

And there certainly has been an out break of realism, patience and uncommon sense…

Brendan certainly has brought a great feel with him… was great to read a few weeks ago Oldheid posting that he had the same feeling with BR as the early days of the Stein Era…

    We wait with bated breath…

    Hail Hail

That was my thought as I stated last night…he couldnt move his feet quickly enough.

    He shouldnt start against Citeh.

Having said that we have enough to think about !

  7. There is currently a thread on Sevcomedya titled something like ‘maybe its time to lower our expectations’

Some of the responses are hilarious and many of them are the reason they are where they are today

I think there’s a case for giving every one of the Lisbon Lions a statue because of their unique achievement.

I would like them all to be around CP though.

Some revealing pictures on Twitter of destroyed red lavvies earlier today…

    ———————————————————————–

Haven’t seen them myself but unsurprising.

    Any links?

  10. Why does this new mob’s followers feel the need to destroy toilets ?

Thankfully even as a young daftie I never felt the urge to try and batter a toilet

Roll on Wednesday, a wee bit gutted DeBrugne is out, would have preferred to get a point or 3 with all their stars playing :-)

  11. Looking towards Wednesday’s game, and after the Camp Nou experience , I wonder whether Brendan will pack the midfield.

I would be inclined to set up 4-5-1, which will be 4-3-3 when attacking.

The centre mid 3 is an interesting one. I’ve put Armstrong in there as this is most realistic. However preferably I think Liam Henderson would offer us more. Has height and athleticism. As well as good delivery from corners , set pieces.

  12. Sky Sports yesterday……

‘Last week Celtic were held to a draw by Inverness, in midweek they struggled to beat the part-timers of Alloa. Now they’re behind at home to Kilmarnock!’

    Shortest crisis ever.

    Now 7th place, THAT’S a crisis.

It’s one of the world’s great sporting achievements. In any other country there would be a monument of all the Lions in somewhere like George Square celebrating their success. But this is Scotland so we have statues of war commanders and queens there instead..

I think Simonuvic is a cert to start on Wednesday beside Kolo, might put Erik in as well but in my opinion Jozo & Kolo are our two best centre halves

A nice idea ,but can you imagine the outrage from the hordes? Not to mention the vandalism such a statue would attract in somewhere like George square?

A large bronze relief panel of the Lions and management team somewhere on the Celtic way is what I would like to see.

  17. Gerryfaethebrig

    There is every possibility.

I also think Jozo is our best centre half. I just feel given that he has only just returned from a long lay off. Brendan might feel that he isn’t fully 100% sharp enough for this level of game…at the moment

LOL! Well I was thinking of Queen Vic. However, you’ve reminded me of the best pub sign I ever saw. I was in Brighton and there was a pub called The Queen’s Head. The sign was a painting of…..Freddy Mercury. :-)))

  19. The 3 centre halves, / 5 at the back failed miserably vs Barca….id be surprised if he opted for 3 centre halves again

  20. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Chairbhoy, a crowd of us were on holiday in Portugal in the early nineties, 5 Celts and 1 bluenose ( he’s not a hun ) .

There was this Evertonian in the same apatments . One of the most racist horrible orange and masonic wee keichs I have had the misfortune to meet.

Liverpool had four black players playing for them at time and he referred to them as the four tops followed by the n word.

He sort of latched onto the bluenose we were with as he thought he could bond with him. Thankfully , our bluenose chum avoided him as much as possible.

You’re right of course – sad as that is.

  23. I am not a fan of Graham Spiers` style of journalism but I have never thought he was a bad person ie Hun.

I heard that he was impressed with the Kano story and donated £20 to the bucket collection yesterday.

There is hope for him yet.

On another topic, I thought Broonie was fantastic yet again, yesterday. I was pleased that Kieran was given MotM but, in truth, Broonie has been the real MotM at every Home game this season.

    Were you watching MiT? 0:-)

  24. RUGGYGMAN

Flat back four but with a central defender as defensive midfielder, given we don’t have a defensive midfielder at the club. Erik or Jozo are comfortable enough on the ball and good enough passers to play there. The problem at Nou Camp, other than they were far too good, was the three centre backs were in a line along the edge of the box, no one was pressing their midfield or closing down the space in front of the defence.

Yeah – the Motherwell play-off should have been a reality check, but it didn’t last long!

Nobody expected Hearts to challenge for the league when they came up, but this year’s new team (despite getting far fewer points than Hearts) somehow were. Just because it’s “Rangers”!

I like Erik, think Kolo is our main man at the back and think big Jozo has all the makings of a Paul Elliot……. Quite like the fact we have 3 decent centre halves, although facing Augero & co we might need 6 centre halves !

1-0 to the good ghuys, Scott Sinclair to put his old team to the sword m
