I see different opinions on this but considering the team we put out for St Johnstone on boxing day that came home with 3 crucial points, the team proposed above are different level.
A risk worth taking for the LC – last seasons cup win was much more symbolic and morale boosting for Ange et al.

I follow Eddi Reader on Twitter, I don’t know if you do, she was talking about Arden the other day, She was singing its praises, compared to when she moved to Irvine.
That team has 8 internationalists and between them accounted for 54 goals last season.
No reason it couldn’t deliver a win at Dingwall in a one-off, league cup game.

*** SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2022-23 ***
RESULTS FROM TEST GAME #0 – CELTIC 2 NORWICH 0 (MAEDA, TURNBULL)
As pre-season friendlies go this one was competitive enough and one where Celtic dominated from start to finish. I think our pre-season has left most of us with a feeling of optimism for the domestic season ahead but perhaps not quite the same level of hope for playing in Europe. But time will tell.
A big thank you to the 30 who emailed me with their 3 nominations for our best performances. Whilst there was a clear winner of Man Of The Match there was a pretty varied range of opinions on which other players caught the eye.
Results are as follows with my own choices asterisked –
Hart: 8
Juranovic: 0
Carter-Vickers: 4
Welsh: 7
Taylor: 0
McGregor: 15
Hatate*: 26
O’Riley: 1
Jota*: 6
Kyogo: 0
Maeda: 14
Ralston: 3
Jenz: 0
Bernabei: 0
Turnbull*: 5
Abada: 1
Giakoumakis: 0
Forrest: 0
Mooy: 0
McCarthy: 0
So, the players that would have received points were this not just a friendly game would have been –
Hatate – 5 points
McGregor – 4 points
Maeda – 3 points
Hart – 2 points
Welsh – 1 point
And so, the competition now begins for real in only 7 sleeps time when we get to enjoy Flag Day and a 4.30pm Sunday home game against Aberdeen.
Hail Hail!

Oh and I would be glad if anyone can confirm the unbelievable point, if true , that there was no match day programme issued for the 1970 European Cup Final between the famous Glasgow Celtic and Feyenoord ??
Hi CD
Was at that game in Milan and could not find a program. I have never seen one since then either.
Almore: I was at the 1958 All Ireland final when Dublin beat Kerry! Well, I think it was Kerry but I’m sure my Dublin friends said it was ages since Dublin won it.

As a 22yo CB, Welsh has plenty of development ahead of him, no way would I be selling him anytime soon for what would be a modest transfer fee.
MJ needs to at very least go out on loan, he’ll be getting very little game time with Jota and Maeda ahead of him. Even with those lads missing, I’d be inclined to play Kyogo out left and bring GG into the middle. MJ chances of game time this season are remote.
If we could move Ajeti & Jullien on this window then we’d have gone some considerable distance to tidying the squad.

Interesting read (at least I thought so)
https://www.worldfootball.net/team_performance/celtic-fc/sco-premiership-2021-2022/
Minutes played in the league last season for each member of the squad.
Devil always in the detail but the stats are instructive.
Due to squad turnover early in season, lots of injuries throughout the season, and late arrival of key players into the squad?
The data indicates PROPER competition in one position only
Right full back.
The load was more or less shared equally by Josip and Tony.
This year’s squad looks deeper and broader
(Time will tell of course).
If everyone is fit though?
You better perform when selected …
…. Or else
