    IKI

The elderly gentleman sat next to me in 102, nearly had a heart attack at the first announcement during the match. Booming!

  2. DELANEYS DUNKY on 26TH JULY 2017 11:46 PM

Rest assured I gave Rodgers a mouth full for Rogic role. His ears will still be ringing :-)

The season does need to change . Agreed . Move with the times . Unfortunately , leadership is required to bring about change and the SFA are lost somewhere up Sevco ‘s chorus & verse .

As DD says only half time . Sleep well Timland . HH

STARRY PLOUGH on 26TH JULY 2017 10:52 PM

I was surprised McGregor didn’t get on for his energy and forward movement:((

Without being smart after the fact, i text bhoys when i seen line up, and would have started Callum instead of Olivier, more experienced, keeps the ball and can play a ball thru a tight defence.Betcha he starts next week.HH

  5. Rosenberg might not be one the finest clubs we have faced in recent times but they are certainly the most tactically organised and challenging opponents we have faced since being eliminated from the Champions League in December last year.

ps I take it the members of the GB just sat at home tonight playing with their playstations, or are they only capable of creating an atmosphere when they are allowed in to the stadium to play with their pals.

The atmosphere inside Celtic Park tonight was ok and no different from matches played at a similar stage in previous seasons

  6. !!BADA BING!! on 26TH JULY 2017 11:53 PM

McGregor’s useful in tight spots. His speed of thought, movement and touch. Would have been a good shout tonight.

I dont think Rosenborg will change tact next week. Why should they?

  7. TIMHORTON

We need to learn how to pass in anticipation.

We pass often to where he is meaning he receives then starts his move.

We pass behind guys a lot because we aim where he is and not where he is going.

We had improved under Brendan but tonight was like watching Delia’s Celtic.

That is the biggest difference at the higher level movement and anticipation .

Players understand this but coaching needs to refine it.

I have felt all preseason and Linfield games the old habits of square and backwards was returning and hoped it was rustiness.

Coaching needs to address this now.

  8. Jim Duffy.

It was bgfc dad who called Clyde tonight and was excellent in challenging Duffy about today’s spfl statement.

Jim stated he did not call rangers cheats because he personally was not that interested in it.

On reflection he said something I now think is incrementing.

Don’t ask questions because its a big can of worms. What about other teams who went into adminstration he said

Duffy was the manager of Dundee in 2003. Who went to the cup final and beaten by 11ebt rangers players and an ebt manager in McLeish.

And yet he doesn’t think he was cheated.

Then again Dundee employed ravenelli and cannigia.

Duffy is being exposed and has something to hide.

    Shame on him.

  9. mickbhoy1888 on 26th July 2017 11:58 pm

Snore, A complete and utter fanny doesn’t do you justice. But you shoiud try it on for size. There is no way you’re a Tim.

  10. Olivier Ntcham sent a constant supply of accurate well weighted passes to Lustig throughout the first half.

Lustifg sent a supply of well curled crosses to no-one in particular as we had nothing in the box for him to aim at.

James Forrest had 6 shots and headers on target during the first half. unfortunately all of them, bar the header, were blocked as he was shooting. Slow to get away from the defender but he was always in a dangerosu location. His best shot, in the 2nd half, was the only one off target.

Stuart Armstrong continued to try to drive forward

    Kieran bust a gut.

Rogic and Sinky went looking for work as no-one was finding them

Nobody had a stinker (Tom Rogic, first half came closest) but overall the team was flat. Pass & Move was fairly static and then passes became ragged.

I still believe Rosenborg will live to regret not taking advantage tonight but we have made things hard for ourselves.

Still think- the next round is the hard one but we might have one new face by then.

  11. Stringer Bell on

A somewhat luck 0-0 from our point of view, still canny believe the 2 chances they missed.

We had no focal point and no space and couldn’t think our way out of that situation, but we are in an ok position in the tie, if we have a no 9 in play next week.

Brendan took the 10 players (Munis Brown, who struggled to walk off on his own) on a thank you lap tonight post match, clapping largely empty stands. But it was appreciated by those left in the ground.

Nervous about next week but have a faith in the manager that I haven’t had for years.

I think we can do it.

  12. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 27TH JULY 2017 12:04 AM

James Forrest is a luxury we cant afford. Inconsistency is his middle name.

Needs to grow a set and buck up or ship out.

  13. !!Bada Bing!! on

SB- i thought Rogic and Sinclair would have switched after 25 mins, it wasn’t working.Only HT ,and kept a clean sheet, another week to work on the return game. All about opinions , but i seen bhoys questioning not having a 3rd striker, IMO Celtic should play with 2 strikers in every game, hence we need another.

    Jim Duffy.

Duffy is being exposed and has something to hide.

    Shame on him.

Maybe other clubs in the SPL/SPFL did use EBT type arrangements?..Could that be why everyone is reluctant to push this issue?..Is that the smoking gun?..If not then the whole situation is crazy..I’d rather we knew the truth though..whatever the truth might be! #HH

  15. !!Bada Bing!! on

SFTB- Cant agree amigo, KT has probably not had a worse game IMO, and Sinky, along with all our attacking players was anonymous.HH all about opinions

  16. !!BADA BING!! on 27TH JULY 2017 12:07 AM

I take your point but we would have a difficult job attracting a striker of quality required to play third fiddle given our circumstances (SPL etc).

  17. fairhill bhoy on

MICKBHOY1888-11:58pm- regarding GB,load of pish, the singing was every ten minutes or so in between the groans:-))

  18. ps. BB why Rodgers didnt let Sinclair lead the line in the first place was strange to say the least. Its not as if he hasnt played that role before in England.

  19. BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 10:13 PM,

The end of a bad seven days for Celtic…

Seriously, you think they’re going to Reign on our Parade?

Got to say, and I should say it often, your Match Reports from Celtic Park are the Very best – Barr none… hope you keep’em in a safe place.

    One word… Truth.

As for the ghuys who would’ve went with the false No 7…

    Hail Hail

  20. !!BADA BING!! on 27TH JULY 2017 12:11 AM

KT took a bad knock in the first half about 20mins into game. Never recovered after that.

  21. BABASONICOS71 on

    Flat atmosphere.flat performance,flat night.

Think we’ll still scrape through but i’m sick of scraping. The annual game of chance our club plays is becoming tedious and bland.Spend the fucking money early JUST ONE SEASON and see how we get on.

    Brinkmanship isn’t ambition.

    PISSEDRIGHTOFFcsc

  22. BABASONICOS71 on 27TH JULY 2017 12:19 AM

As frustrating as it is, that’s just never going to happen (spending big early) and for very good reason. SPL.

  23. they were fitter than us tonight. brown was not strong enough (yet). Muscled off the ball, fairly, on several occasions. Tierney was shattered after 20mins, along with rogic. sinclair has lost his pace. we were taking “touch then pass” all night when last season it was first time “pass, pass, pass”. Hope the hype of invincible hasn’t gone to their heads. hard work – not talent- will get us qualification.

  24. Bada Bing

Don’t think I said they had good games- merely that they tried.

    Sionnaich Abu

I heard your opinion of JF echoed many times- the only person who won’t understand that point of view is the Rosenborg coach, who changed his line up in order to try o nullify his pace threat.

James flashed a few crosses with no takers and ran along their front line, Arthur Graham style, without finding any targets in the box. Mostly because our front three did not work tonight but they will, next time, when Rosenborg leave the comfort of their defensive shell

  25. Thought the Ref was crap, why no mention of that?

He seemed to give every 50/50 to Rosenborg.

The “tackle” on Broony at the end looked horrendous.

  26. fairhill bhoy on

Poor tonight,no pass marks except our goalie, you can dress it anyway you want, but our passing was shocking, balls getting played out wide at 100 miles an hour, or to high in the wind.It was a very unlike BR team

  27. As for atmosphere. The lack of the GB made little difference compared to say, Maribor, a few seasons back. Atmosphere that night was crap. Tonight was poor. more to do with the performance in my opinion. Also, I would like to ask those selfish bar-stewards that leave early – could you leave ASAP. I missed some of the last minute of added time as the stairwell in front of me block up with the early to leave brigade. disgraceful disregard for fellow fans.

  28. !!Bada Bing!! on

I dont think the players trusted the pitch, taking too many touches instead of a first time pass

  29. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 27TH JULY 2017 12:23 AM

What makes you think they’ll change tact? It’s half time. Their tactics are working just fine the way they are.

  30. INVINCIBLE 'GG on

On reflection, I saw nothing in Rosenborg that would cause me to be concerned about the return next Wednesday.

Neat, well organized, particularly in defence, breaking quickly from defence but toothless up front.

We need to be quicker in thought and action especially in and around their box.

I’m sure Brendan reads the site and will be taking all our tactical advice to heart.

    Aye right.

  31. the glorious balance sheet on

In the last year in Europe we have played 8 different teams of varying abilities.

Lincoln Red Imps, Astana, Hapoel Ber Sheva, Man City, Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach, Linfield and Rosenborg.

5 out of these 8 teams have been able to keep a clean sheet in at least one of the matches they played against us – Red Imps, Beer Sheva, Barca, Monchengladbach and now Rosenborg.

The only teams to concede in both games against us were Astana, Man City and the no hopers of Linfield.

I think that suggests we are either too one dimensional in Europe or perhaps too reliant on a narrow pool for our goals.

I had a look back at least season where we scored 16 goals in Europe but only 3 of these goals were scored by players who were available for selection tonight.

So given that context, it’s probably no great surprise that we drew a blank tonight.

Last season’s European goal scorers were-

    Dembele 5

    Griffiths 5

    Roberts 2

    Own Goal 1

    Rogic 1

    Brown 1

    Lustig 1

I think we’re in real trouble if Griffiths is not fully fit next week.

  32. Just returned, poor performance, other than the two centre backs and the keeper (& Hayes from the bench), no player came even close to an acceptable performance. Brown was atrocious, Sinclair and Armstrong invisible and the two full backs awful. Rogic you can excuse as he obviously isn’t a centre forward (or a false nine).

We’ll qualify as we will can’t play worse, they aren’t that good and hopefully Griffiths is fit.

  33. Just read all the comments. It seems it was as bad as I thought from my perch in block 409.

If Griff is not fit for next week we cannot go with that same team. BR would surely need to start with either young Aitchison or Cifti. At the start tonight I reckoned that with the goals already scored by Sinclair, Rogic and Armstrong we would be OK but that wasn’t a “team” tonight, it was just a collection of players who played as if they had no real belief that we actually had a goal in us. You could see after 20 mins that it was going to be a very long and fruitless night.

BTW congratulations to JF for winning scapegoat of the night. That’s impressive given that you worked hard and had most of our efforts at goal. Particularly impressive given that SS hardly touched the ball all night and ML, KT and SB all managed to play way below what was expected and required!

  34. BABASONICOS71 on

    FRED C. DOBBS…

Was it the ref being bad that caused us to have no fit strikers?Aye,he was pish but ain’t it ever so?The poor yet redeemable result is completely our own fault.

  35. Kriss Ajer, still a bit raw defensively but looks a real prospect at centre half. Play him this season and don’t send him on loan, accept he’s learning and we could have a top class player.

  36. Next week, McGregor should play before Armstrong. Playing players who’s heart is set on a move rarely works.
