They turned it on when they needed to, the longer they play together the better they are gonna get.

They will for sure be in the mix at the end of the CL, along with half a dozen that are there year in year out.

I watched an honest game of football yesterday, I will watch an honest game in the week, it won’t be so honest next week at the bigot dome, but we will just have to spank them all the same, which will give me great pleasure.

The game against Anderlecht will be as bent as our game at the bigot dome, but if we turn up and play we win imo.

The darts were good today :-)

  2. The two biggest games of the season, or should I say 3 or 4 are the so called Celtic promoted Old Firm games. Being the most expensive at £49 a pop these games are the games.

Met your stubborn Toronto friend Mike yesterday. He stuck to his principles.

The Partick Tivoli was the first place I saw colour moving pictures on a screen. Black and white telly in ’60s Partick in ma house.

  11. Hello Bhoy’s!

Very brief intro…Female here looking for some tips to get into running. I’m an absolute beginner. I’m feeling a bit out of shape and need some tips on the scary world of healthy living! Any tips, tricks of the trade with regards to diet, pace, motivation etc would be much appreciated.

  12. And for what it’s worth, I love the fact ghirls are becoming brave enough to join the old bhoys network of CQN!!

Aye mate, I feel Mike is missing out on so many memories due to his stance.

It’s a great time to be watching the Invincibles. BTW, did you ever have pictures of the board up on your bedroom walls? Nah!, me neither.

Jealous that you and Joe Sips are going to Munchen mate, wish I was going with you guys. All you could ask for is guid beer along with yer Celtic :-)

    Morning All.

Up and at ’em for the early jaunt to Londinium where the “clever” people hold court apparently.

    Old Cinemas is it?

Well of course, there was The Radnor at the top of Kilbowie Road in Clydebank where I saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the B listed Ascot cinema at Anniesland (opened 1939) which later became The Odeon and could seat almost 2000.

Later, I also travelled across the city to the Coliseum in Eglinton Street which was the first cinema in Glasgow to show a talking picture which was Alfred Hitchcock’s Blackmail.

The Classic and The Classic Grand on Renfield Street which used to show movies of dubious morality and graphic sexual content – and where you could find many of the St Aloysius 5th and 6th years furthering their private education on any given day.

The Grosvenor which was then on Byres Road before being transferred to Ashton Lane and The Salon on Vinicombe Street where I saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid — a great movie especially when Katherine Ross takes her clothes off! Other people like the bit on the bicycle and raindrops keep falling on my head but Katherine Ross helped me see teachers in a whole new light (Hamilton Tim excepted).

The La Scala on Sauchiehall Street for Richard Prior and Gene Wilder, The ABC up the road for Jaws (now that was a really big cinema) and the GFT for Betty Blue where I was the only male viewer in the company of 15 young women who told me it was a musical!!

Lastly, The Odeon on Renfield Street where I remember being taken by my mum and dad to see the debut screening of “The Celtic Story” complete with narration by Jimmy Gordon.

Green’s Playhouse should get an honourable mention but by the time I went there it was the Apollo.

The one in Partick mentioned by DD is now a British Heart Foundation Furniture Shop but the cinema is still intact behind the facade and you can go upstairs and view things from the old balcony.

The George on St George’s Road became a snooker club (I still have a lifelong membership from 1979) and the Kelvin on Argyle Street became a nightclub before being demolished to make way for flats and a Tesco express.

Right must fly before I get started on the Odeon at Marble Arch where I saw John Wayne in Brannigan many years ago …………

  15. Back in the day

    Welcome.

    Starting back running?

    The First Week :

On Monday, run 15 minutes using a ratio of 15 to 30 seconds running/30 seconds walking. Tuesday: Walk 30 to 60 minutes. Wednesday: Run 15 to 20 minutes using a ratio of 15 seconds running/30 seconds walking (more seasoned runners do a 1:1 ratio). Rest Thursday. Friday: Run 20 to 25 minutes using 20 seconds running/40 seconds walking (veterans use 1:1). Saturday: Walk 30 minutes. Sunday: Run 25 to 30 minutes using a ratio of 40 seconds running/20 seconds walking (veterans use 90:30).

Good luck. When you start to get further, faster, that’ll be all the motivation you need. The park runs on a sat morning all over UK are very popular, with all different ability levels and all shapes and sizes !!

ODEON Shettleston where we caught up with Jason and the Argonauts

  17. Shettleston Odeon…..

Mid to late 60s …. Saturday matinee….such a thrill for quite a wee lad. My first taste of approved parental freedom going with my Rangers supporting pal. ( A bit of a bad boy according to my mum lol)

Within a couple of years….realised how run down and manky it was. A shame really.

    My god nostalgia….what’s it like!!!

  18. The 2 pictures houses I went to as a boy were the Granada, just off Parkhead Cross and the Scotia, just round the corner from the Louden……Very occasionally, I would get to the State or the Odeon in Shettleston (saw the 10 Commandments in one and the Alamo in the other).

The State Shettleston…………Any of my fellow eastenders remember the last film to be shown there?

Not a film buff at all, just that the billing posters were up for about 2 years before it was demolished……..

  20. Received a mail from Booking.Com to tell me that as I was flying out from Glasgow Airport soon, I might wish to visit places of interest around Paisley. First up was Braehead….wait for it…next was Ibrox Stadium tours. Might go to Braehead but never again to the other.
