  1. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

I believe a few of the fairer sex are coming along,so she’ll be in good company.

  2. The recent open season on our captain is disgraceful and transparent. End his season appears to be the message and the cheerleader and instigator Levein is culpable with his blatant and unprofessional attack on Scott Brown.

Jealousy was dripping from every one of Levein’s scurrilous words about our captain and I firmly believe he wanted to disrupt our treble aspirations. This was latched on to. Must try harder!

Fortunately for us there is no naivety in our camp-we are ready, prepared and will respond when the time is right.

Was at Preston v Sheff Utd a couple of years ago(long story), wee Fleck was out warming up with the SU team about 2.20 stadium empty, we came out the hospitality box , and shouted ‘ awright Fleckie- he gave us the thumbs up, cue 12 Tims singing The Celtic Song, ….he took it well, there was a few ROI Bhoys in SU team and were howling at him…:))

I loved Jarvies when Alfie Conn ran it and barred all the Yoker bigoted huns. Great Celtic shoap it became. :)

Lovely to hear about St Margaret’s; I’ve recently instigated the St Margaret’s Foundation in Airdrie linked to the school. Some great people in Airdrie.

  6. DD when did he run it?

The time I am talking about Peter Jordan I think ran it.

The team was full of Langy and Yoker zombies

Wee Fleckies mothers family are heavy republican Tims. His dads side don’t bother that much though his Uncle Robert played for Rangers. I always got the impression from John that he preferred Celtic.

Be great to see you in Belfast.

Hertz are a disgrace and will be put in their place when we meet next-Levein should and will be called out though!

Before Peter. Alfie has worked and been protected by Colin Beattie since signing for Celtic.

Awe right, well the Sunday team was full of currents apart from one wee guy that went to St tams a few year younger than me, but he acted like a current and got a slap like wan. His nickname was Bullitt or something like that.

Anyway Allan Fleck who I knew from when I was 11 or 12 was a really nice guy that would never walk by you.

  13. Today Easter Monday is not a holiday in Canada unless you work in a bank, school or government facility which I luckily I did for around 30 years; everyone else is off tae work. It’s also only a holiday in the States for those fortunate tae roll Easter eggs at the White House.

That is one of the main events I missed after emigrating, when I lived back hame today was a huge holiday all over Europe, lots of sporting events including horse racing, there wisnae enough room in the blowers tae put the runners and riders up on the wall.

Today there are fixtures from the Championship down being played in England and its not unusual for Premiership games to be played, I would hazard a guess that the Champions and Europa Leagues this week has curtailed them.

So why in the name of God is there nae fitba on today in Scotland, or any other Easter Monday that I can recall except one.

Naw we have games tomorrow and Wednesday night while the EC quarters are on, this won’t affect our crowd on Wednesday night but surely the Tuesday night games will see diminished attendance even though places are up for grabs in relegation and top 4 battles.

Surely it would be better to play in the light of the day saving on utility costs as well as making a safer environment for the fans. The people who run our game couldnae run a ménage.

The one Easter Monday game when we played that I recall was when we were trying to emulate Wullie Maley’s marvelous 6-in-a-row achievement, which by this time was 61 years old.

The sheep were top of the league, having already beaten us and deidco both away, by 3 points courtesy of us dropping a point at home tae our old adversaries the Arabs on the Saturday at Parkheid, it was only 2 points for a win then.

They had only 2 games left, one against us at the Pen the following Saturday while we had 4, this was a result of drawing 2 SC games which meant League games were postponed.

There would be no extension to the season which would end on May 8th as we were already in the SC Final slated for the following Saturday. So we had to finish the season by May Day which meant 3 games in the final week.

Easter Monday for me was always a happy day, lots of sport on the tele including a huge racing card and Balloch was as usual busy with locals and visitors enjoying the sunshine on the Bonnie Bonnie Banks as well as the many popular bevvy establishments. The fatherland wasn’t the only place with beer gardens.

That night a pretty decent crowd was on hand, well nourished with the Easter Sunday left overs and well oiled tae. The Big Mhan rang the changes after Saturdays poor performance, out went the King, wee Ten Thirty and big Tam and in came Cairney, the Fife Beckenbauer and the Buzz Bomb who after being demoted tae the reserves had scored 4 for them up at Tannadice.

The wee mhan was majestic that night as was the returning Lemon, we won very comfortably 3-0 against a very good steelmen side containing a horrible goalie called kieth mccrae who was part time as he worked for the daily express, he always seemed tae play against us with a sneer on his face, he was highly rated and moved tae Maine Road a couple of seasons later but never really made the step up and ended up playing in the NASL.

They had a cultured wing half who could also find the net, unfortunately he moved tae govan, was given the name “jaws” and also played with a twisted face, and up front was a wee stalky striker who always troubled big Billy, a few months later he would become one of the most sung about players in the hoops as well as being a thorn in the hibbee defense’s side.

We were now 3 points behind the sheep and a tie up there 5 days later put us in the driver’s seat and on the following Saturday our game against the Honest Men at hampden was cancelled due tae flooding, we were forced tae play there due tae a concern with the beam in the main stand at our ground, the sheep, on a 16 game unbeaten run, lost down at Brockville, so we now only needed 3 points fae 3 games but all had tae be played that week, we were fortunate there as in Wullie’s 6IAR they had tae play 2 games in one day.

However, in true Celtic fashion we made it hard for ourselves by drawing 2-2 at Love Street against a relegation bound Buddies. The MOTM that Tuesday night was a wee striker called ally McLeod who put the Saints intae the League twice, 16 months later he would score 4 at hades against the hapless ECWC lavvy holders in the LC, he went down south but never really settled an came back up tae star for the hibbees.

Nevertheless 2 days later at the national stadium Wullies record was emulated but sadly in front of only 25,000, there is only so much money tae go around. After the game we gave Queens Park 10 grand to assist with their own renovations, unfortunately it didnae include covering the Celtic end.

Big Jock announced after the game that the Lisbon Lions would take the field for the last time, oul Ronnie was injured and unknown tae us wee Ten Thirty was being freed, smartarse Clyde announced they widnae play at Hampden hoping we would concede Shawfield tae them and an anticipated bumper crowd, not so said Jock we will just play it at Parkheid with the stand closed, backfired on the greedy bully wee as ¾ of the park was jam packed and the money went straight tae the famed “biscuit tin”.

I remember after Neil Lennon got jumped in Ashton Lane by huns Whitehead and Carrigan fae Knightswood. Every Tim grassed them for being smack dealers. The next time I saw Neil Lennon out in Byres Rd. Was in Oran Mor in the company of the owner and his friends. :)

    Another great post and read.

    I enjoyed that.

My old dad, God rest his soul, used to tell me it was diedco that held back a renovation of Hamdump way before it got a renovation. I cannot remember his reasoning behind it, something about them refusing to stump up cash?????

  16. Alan Pardew will struggle to get back into management after his departure from West Brom, says former England striker Ian Wright.

The relegation-threatened Baggies parted company with Pardew on Monday after eight straight league defeats.

*they used tae get semis played at their ground until both us and the Hibees complained after one LC semi as there was a lack of concessions, including programmers, available. So they widnae want a decent hampden in competition tae their coup.

BTW did you know the ould Celtic end at hampden held over 70,000.

Pardew has the worst record ever at Palace.

Probably as bad at West Brom.

He also hates Celtic for signing Foo Fighter fae Newcastle. Thinks Scottish fitba is Mickey Mouse amateur league.

Him and the huns would be a match made in heaven.

Wow 70,000 I knew that the Celtic end was big, and the crowds that the stadium held were massive in the day, but 70,000 for 1 end..

  22. Was seriously considering Belfast until Wednesday evening when i received an email from UEFA advising that my application for the Champions League Final in Kiev had been successful. Incredibly, i also got a ticket for the Europa League final in Lyon. The odds on getting both are very small, i believe there were only 6700 tickets in the public ballot for the CL final. So it’s unfortunately a no to Belfast, a yes to Kiev and maybe to Lyon.

  23. I see that a former ref has slammed the assault on Broony on Saturday.

I wonder if anyone will take notice at the SFA. Doubt it
