CELTIC’S £5million misfit striker Albian Ajeti has been given the boot from Turkish club Gaziantep FK – after only FOUR months!
The Swiss dud signed a one-year deal with a 12-month option as he quit the Hoops on a cut-price £500,000 in September.
However, Ajeti, who cost the Parkhead side TEN times that amount when he joined from West Ham in the summer of 2020, has once again failed to impress and the Super Lig club have cut him loose after just one goal from five appearances.
OH, NO…Albian Ajeti in an all-too-familiar pose at Celtic following another miss.
Thirty-year-old Ajeti is now without a club, as Transfermarkt confirmed today.
Neil Lennon bought the Swiss international forward for the champions when Davie Moyes put him up for grabs at the London club. The ex-Hoops defender was clearly unimpressed by the frontman who failed to score in nine outings.
The ex-Parkhead gaffer wanted the one-time Basel attack-leader on an initial loan switch, but he was told it was a permanent move or nothing.
The Irishman shelled out big money for Ajeti, but, alas, the player bombed in the east end of Glasgow with a meagre tally of nine goals in two years.
LYING DOWN ON THE JOB…Albian Ajeti reflects on another wasted opportunity.
Ajeti netted six goals in Lennon’s final season and a mere three in Ange Postecoglou’s first year in charge.
Following a failed loan move to Austrian club Sturm Graz, he was finally offloaded in the last day of the summer transfer window to Gazientep FK.
The team’s head coach Marius Sudumica reportedly told the club’s president that Ajeti no longer featured in his plans which led to another quickfire exit for the misfiring marksman.
