We know what to expect from Aberdeen tonight. They will flood (pardon the pun) central midfield, defend deeply and, let’s be clear, they will score any time we allow them the kind of space they exploited at Celtic Park this month.
Question is, what will Celtic do about it? If Stefan Johansen’s ankle knock keeps him out the central-mid triangle of Johansen, Brown and Biton will be disrupted, and surely Neil Lennon will not revert to a central two after the Scottish Cup lesson. The picture is further complicated by the injury to Emilio Izaguirre, which forced Charlie Mulgrew back at the weekend. Mulgrew would be a suitable direct replacement for Johansen.
In 10 years doing this stuff I’ve probably used no more than a few dozen words to praise emerging young talent; it’s been a rough decade in that respect. Without wanting to go overboard in any way, Darnell Fisher has looked more than comfortable at right back in the absence of Mikael Lustig and Adam Matthews. Darnell’s problem going forward will be that he has two excellent international players ahead of him in the pecking order, but for tonight, I would be tempted to bring Matthews to left back (if he can do it against Barcelona….) and restore Fisher to the right back slot. This would allow Charlie to sit alongside Scott Brown and Nir Biton in central-mid.
Well done to Frank McAvennie, who is jumping out of an aeroplane 15,000 feet in the air. You can play your part in this exercise by supporting the Quarriers run, Chavey Down residential home, in Newton Mearns, which helps young people up to the age of 16.
The need is for sensory equipment, toys and wheelchair-appropriate play areas. To contribute, go to Frank’s JustGiving page, or text FMSD 89 followed by £1, 2, 3, 5, 10 to 70070.

bournesouprecipe,
Sorry just seen your post.
Yes, fantastic season from Efe :O).
Just found out the ref was Thomson not Murray. Still 2 huns imo!!
@Eddie
Your more generous in defeat than me mate.I just feel it was one of the many
moments in the game that defined tonights result.Aberden had 10 men behind the ball at 2 nil up and continued in that vein.History will show 2.1 but 10 men done us proud.
H.H,
H.H.
Virgil’s contact was minimal. Pawlett is notorious for his diving antics and for playing for fouls in and around the box. Was suspended for 3 games last season for cheating. Watch his reaction when Thomson blows the whistle at the incident in 11 mins. Think he was expecting a yellow card.
Well played the hoops . HH
Ach what are you to expect, Efe lost his partner tonight, a bit in the daze of the headlights so to speak, he is a good player for us, we are lucky to have him imo, for a mill or less, a very good buy.

Ok ta gotcha now.

I just threw in a name like hiddink (sp) or someone of his ilk who would not be told who he would sign..
as I said it was a discussion in the pub as to what we would want as our next manager.(we are not going to have lenny forever)
another experiment or a man with cajones who would tell our board that to progress we heed to spend a little.

Change the name to collars, belts and leather restraints if you want more hits………allegedly. ;-)
Just watched Langfield catch the ball unchallenged from a great Stokes corner. C M is standing scratching his arse.
VP
I have told the young fella to phone you either the morra or thursday.

Effe has more strengths than weaknesses and offers lots of options to his team mates.
Good teams need defenders who can actually play football.
He will find consistency and become a colossal athlete and player for Celtic.
He definitely has the raw materials to start with.

“ Anyway, it’s February and we have just suffered our first league defeat of the season and some of the comments on CQN are an absolute disgrace. Some spoilt little brats on here for sure. ”

I strongly agree with these sentiments.

Was hoping nae buddy saw that.
Thot Efe and Bitton were brill tonight!!
Hi guys.
Me wee mam was brilliant today on her 94th birthday. I gave her all the best wishes from CQN, and she gave a wee smile. Wee soul. Thanks to all of you for your best wishes for her. It was really important. :-))
Weefra HH supporting Wee Oscar.
Efe could have had Pawlett done for a late lunge,an honest man.
The Spirit of Arthur Lee,

I went to the market the other week with my wares, did no too bad, not complaining, I should go every week, but getting up at 7 on a sat morning when I really don’t have to is a bother for me, and I was asked by a couple of people for restraints, I will make anything as long as they pay me >}
HH
Just seen it again,Pawlett running away from goal and over ran the ball,a yellow for me.
Big Fraser had to loose a goal at some pint, and that was a fantastic strike from Hayes.
A great achievement for Fraser.
We played better in the second half, got organised and got at them a bit, James Forrest made a difference.
It was going to be a hard game tonight, with ten men, all the harder.
Was it a sending off? If it had happened at the other end I’d have been looking for it.
Onwards.
Weefra
still time to wish mrs weefra a happy birthday.
God bless mate…
BT
No more than I would have expected from you. You are a star in this household. As your family is. :-))
Weefra HH supporting Wee Oscar.
BT-PL will only have a manager he can control , Strachan,Mowbray ,Lennon. The next compliant fav is Owen Coyle IMO.Available and will be offered less than NL is on.
BT
I think its a fantasy to expect our Board to actively hire someone to be disruptive and cause fights.
For Hiddink read Mourinho, who was caught on camera bemoaning his own failed striker signings.
Everybody is a corporate manager nowadays. Brian Clough was the last of that mould. Harry Redknapp now bankrupts clubs with their own consent
Snr obviously.
Amatrypaline time since commans people mate never emailed me…o)
We will be tims in the morning and still have our team.
then now and always Celtic..
Hail Hail
Night all MK11
One Red card and two yellow’s in 20 mins but nothing against the sheep for similar fouls is a deliberate attempt to infuriate Celtic players and put them off their game. I have no doubt that this was a pre-meditated plan to end our unbeaaten sequence.I would have preferred defeat honestly, it’s a shame as Aberdeen played well and Jonny Hayes strike was a peach ( little fecker ripped the piss out of me a few years back playing for his mates team in Dublin – no wonder I had to have a hip replaced!!)
referees inconsistency in SPFL (in Celtic matches) to me = masonic cheating cabal
Hail Hail
SFTB
so we live in mediocrity for ever…?
Not a nice though for me to sleep on..
@sftb
hire someone to be disruptive and cause fights?
Don’t you know we already have someone who brings it on himself?

Just finished watching the game on Alba – what a second half performance from the Bhoys – I’d love to see the possession stats on that – I don’t know what was said at half-time but that was awesome; very unlucky to lose IMO. So tough to be playing a man down for so long, but they completely dominated Aberdeen throughout that period… stunning.
My only criticism…. 5 minutes for Balde… again. Not quite sure why but there you go. Who cares if we get beat 3-1, with 10-15 minutes to go, and 10 men being knackered after nearly 80 minutes a man down, why not use all subs and go for a result ?
Anyway, HH to the team… and look on the bright side… Murderwell are less likely to be second because of this…. Always look on the bright side !
Neil Lennon is Celtic manager and I’m grateful for that.
Neil is Celtic manager by default after the pitiful list of candidates drawn up by PL after WGS left.
Just remember it wouldn’t be the support that picked the next manager it will be the guy the listed Coyle and Mowbray.
Clarke, Mackay even Moyes couldn’t lace Lenny’s boots as players or managers.
We are very lucky to have Neil as our manager but not as lucky as PL.
@gold coast tom
At least someone on here knows about football
