Cocky Dutch

I’m older than Virgil van Dijk and I’ve seen more football scenarios than he has, so in this respect it is forgivable for him to be talking about Celtic going through the entire league programme undefeated, but Virgil was in the Celtic team who lost at home to Morton less than two months ago, so he really should know the only place to do your talking is on the football field.

Celtic have a rather important game on Tuesday, which the manager will quite rightly be preparing for, making tomorrow’s game against Aberdeen an open race.  If Virgil’s (reported) mind-set is shared by many in the dressing room the 7/1 odds against Aberdeen look generous.

Better all-round if we knock any ‘undefeated all season’ talk on the head.  It’s fine fare for fans but not for players.

Feeling gutted for the five Celtic fans who failed to get justice in Amsterdam yesterday.  The rest of us can busy ourselves campaigning on their behalf but verdict will be a blow to the five and their families.

  3. E=mc2 the most important part of ogilvie statement was the oldest rivals part. It was deliberate. It’s also pathetic that he even remains in post.

Twists you are of course correct. But the battle for all of our sanity and the truth is very much underway. How celtic act is pivotal to our clubs future. So far, joke aside, they have said nothing.

This is a pivotal moment for me. If celtic acquiese then that’s it for me. Game over.

  6. E=mc2. Can I just point out that the so called endless struggle is not endless. In fact it’s only around 100 years old. This isn’t a struggle for supremacy in any case. This is about subjugation of one group over another. There is nothing fair or equal in this so called fight.

This excuse of it will cause trouble if we question really does get on my goat. So we let the bully have his way? Is that it?

As for their death. The legal entity called rangers was liquidated because it couldn’t pay its debts. The legal entity died. There is no such thing as a club – it’s not an etherical being that floats through space and time. The legal entity was rangers and it no longer exists.

I travelled to Amsterdam in 1982 on a supporters bus with no loo.

No Easy Jet or Ryanair in those days, tough journey there and back but great result in the old Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.

From a football perspective certainly not a welcoming city even back then..

Having travelled a lot over the years following Celtic in Europe, the only country in my opinion who know how to police football properly and fairly is Germany. They are used to large travelling supports on a weekly basis and from my experience when we played in Dortmund they tend to understand football fans and how to police properly.

    Glasgow Trouble

We invited 3,000 Ajax fans with tickets to Glasgow and 2,500 behaved themselves and were true supporters , 500 were fannies who wouldn’t last a minute on there own in any Glasgow pub on a Saturday night.

    Amsterdam Trouble

They invited 2,500 Celtic fans with tickets to Amsterdam and all behaved themselves.

Another 10,000 Celtic fans travelled without a match invitation to have a party.

Some of the 10,000 uninvited (without a match invitation) additional happy people who had turned up for a party were targeted by the local fannies (hooligan fans and hooligan police). They proceeded to take their anger and brutality out on the partygoers.

    Lessons to be learned :

Don’t go to uninvited football party’s in shit hole cities where some of the local fans and police are fannies.

Don’t give presents of 2 million euros to shit hole cities where the fannies stay.

Message to Celtic Players please do your best to finish second in our group with Milan finishing third.

To the many good people of Amsterdam and true supporters of Ajax you have been badly let down by your hooligan fans and hooligan police.

Either Ogilvie’s comment is calculated or it is a product of arrogance from what he believes is an unassailable position.

Who can blame him for the latter given he not only received an ebt under the BTC arrangement currently being examined by the UTT, but he started Rangers on the ebt trail in 1999 using the now illegal Discount Oprion Scheme. A scheme that would not have been illegal had it been implemented without side letters concealed from both football and tax authorities but as there were hidden letters was illegal from the outset.

Further he was a member of Rangers Employee Remuneration Committee who started Rangers on the ebt road using hidden letters as a matter of club policy.

Either he is unaware that this can be demonstrated or certain in his arrogance that he can explain it away as he did his receipt of an ebt except the tie in with player registration cannot be denied.

I look forward to someone posing the question and hearing CO’s explanation and if other clubs believe it.

  10. e=mc2, Theres no denying the fact that the legal entity that was rangers died. It is unfortunate that they continue in their new guise. Same strip, same badge, same trophies, same stadium, same loathsome supporters in the stadium and at the SFA.

In that sense they are the same. They would have been the same team playing in the same league as us with no trophies removed challenging for the league with perhaps the same squad of players as before liquidation had Whyte, Murray, Ogilvie et al got their way over Turnbull Hutton etc.

Allowed to start again when the rules didnt allow it,. Rules bent to allow that same blue jumper crowd to compete over Celtic in the Champions League years earlier when they were trading insolvent. Allowed to do so by the SFA. Never investigated by a friendly media in the employ of Rangers themselves.

Yip that Rangers will be back. They will be allowed to lord it over every club in Scotland. Rules bent. Indiscretions swept under the carpet. Cheating ignored. If you or anyone else thinks its a fair fight then fill your boots and by tickets for the show.

There is little room for doubt that ogilvie is a key player in the switcheroo exercise. Operating with a cloak of invisibility as he distanced himself from the matter and refused to answer questions so not to compromise himself or his office.

I’m holding out for his fall from power when the utt results come through and measures are brought in to prevent his like from corrupting the game that we all love dearly.

  17. e=mc2, btw you carry the same arguments that the Rangers support carry. That the Old Firm was a fine sporting rivalry and all the dirty cheating was part of the jolly jape. The Billy Boys? Ach all part of the jocularity.

Funny thing is when you go through all those arguments with those fine upstanding blue noses and then ask them why they support a club that did not sign a Roman Catholic they look a tad embarassed.

Mind you, they cheated themselves for years with that policy.

  18. Morning from a Blue skied Chilled Chilterns…

Once more Campbell Ogilvie shows why he is unfit to sit ahead of our National Game.

A couple of paragraphs in a statement yet so many wrongs.

My first point would be this is the second SFA President in a row to have a snide dig at Celtic, I’ve not heard them making such remarks about any other Club.

Next and obviously the whole point of his pronouncement – the oldest rival nonsense, intimating that Rangers continue through liquidation, without having to substantiate his statement, although substantiation is NOT one of Mr Campbell’s strong points.

Then there is the nonsensical “erosion of mutual respect” well where do you start here, firstly these two Clubs have little or nothing to do with each other, my understanding is Charles Green tried to set up meetings with Celtic, I guess to look at mutuality or augmenting the sectarian pound – as I understand it these approaches were given no truck, therefore no mutual respect had been built.

Of course he is almost certainly using this phrase once again to reiterate the continuation myth without heaving to substantiate his grounds, i.e. the mutual respect is that of Oldco when their were two giant Glasgow rivals, well lets look at that whimsy.

Let’s look at the Old Firm “mutual respect”, now over the many years this historical event took place there has certainly been times when a mutual respect was shown – can’t go very far back but I’ve heard tales of guards of honour from opponents when great Footballing deeds were done, applauding of sportsmanship, support from Rangers management when Celtic wanted to keep the Irish Tricolour flying at Paradise. The coming together, working together, during and in the aftermath of the Ibrox disaster.

Sure there was mutual respect down the years re-the old firm, never enough to overcome the bigoted bitterness that manifested itself in various ways, including sectarian signing policies, but it was there up to modern times and the highly lauded working relationship between Peter Lawwell and Martin Bain, how good that was for Scottish Football time will tell, but you could call that mutual respect.

But two things, firstly and obviously you are talking about two organisations, Celtic have no History with NewCo Rangers and to be blunt, many oldtime Rangers men and their current supporters show this organisation little respect, quite the opposite, the sinister nature of their dealings and their infighting and back biting has caused contempt.

So what of the old-firm, well the partial officiating had become so bad that the Footballing authorities were called out by the Chairman of Celtic, the emnity on the Park, between the coaches and between supporters had got so bad the Scottish government, rightly or wrongly decided something had to be done and called a summit, leading to legislation.

Celtic Managers and supporters receiving threats and bombs and bullets through the post – financial doping at Rangers, long suspected but now exposed showed a long line of cheating via financial doping.

When outed a refusal to accept responsibility or punishments by Rangers led to moire threats and hostility leading to the ending of the Club that died of shame.

Erosion of mutual respect? Who eroded it?

Celtic are one of the best run Clubs in Britain, if not Europe we have earned our respect, if other Clubs want respect, especially new kids on the block, they too should earn it.

Apologies it seems to have turned into a rather long rant… I’m not finished but I’ll cut off here.

will be until Sevco enter the SPL, it’s about ‘what Celtic do

    when that happens’.

In the meantime Celtic should be ‘legally’ prepared as to how

to refer to a new club entering the SPL.

    No you’re not alone.

But the plc is the integral part of Celtic that holds everything together.

Say if billy gets transplanted with Campbell’s brain, then is the resultant being Campbell, billy or neither?

  22. On reflection, I find Campbell Ogilvie’s comments amusing.

IMHO if PL had made a similar comment 10/15 years ago, he would have been hauled before SFA and fined.

    But, not now.

Is that because the SFA rules are too wooly, is it because it was a private meeting, or is it because of the inevitable arguments that Celtic’s legal team would put up?

Or some other factor, such as , Peter being correct.

The real question is why did Ogilvie consider it necessary to pass comment on the whole event?

Spoke to my big brother, Lisbon veteran, last night.

He is relatively sanguine over the Sevco business.

As far as he is concerned, they are dead and they know it.

Whatever is operating in their old clothes are financially hog tied, and will be.

Ibrox is the key to any existence they may have. Who owns it?

However, he reckons that it is all of minor interest to Celtic.

He believes that between the next 3 to 5 years, the game in Europe will be restructured and we will be there. They won’t.

He believes that this is the long game that Celtic are playing.

We have no chance of bringing honesty and integrity to the Scottish game. The infrastructure does not exist in Scotland……..and we all know it.
