Italian version is that nothing is confirmed.

Italian media is very interested in wondering what FIFA /UEFA think of a clear example of a Government influencing a football decision -.

Italian media very interested in the comparative costs of constructing a stadium in Poland and the Ukraine .

  10. ”Clearly, in terms of where Rangers do play, that is now a matter for others to decide upon, it is something we have no control or influence over

can see where ernie is coming from regards neil,s statement

rangers are no more and about to be liquidated so why even give the media any reason to think there is still a rangers team

as regards to the team that is the zombie

then the celtic plc do have control and influence over were they play

    i.e.

    silence

the more this stich up goes on and with celtic director in posistios at the spl and sfa then i like many on here still think they want the old firm tag to continue.

the cartel gravy train must roll on in their eyes

p67 thinks PL is a great poker player

well he better have some hand as the sfa do not play by the rules and will fix the outcome if it does not suit ogilvies agenda

Everybody on here knows that the vote today should not be taking place. It is the direct result of pressure from both the SPL and the SFA on the SFL clubs. Should the SFL reject the first choice of both the SFA and SFL, which as we know is Division One, then Regan, Ogilvie and Doncaster have to go, it is as simple as that. Should the SFL board decide that Sevco starts in Division One, then Scottish football is finished as a sporting entity.

  18. From Stuart Hunt:

    Hi Jeff,

I saw a few comments about the lack of competitiveness there will be in the SPL if (looks like when!) Rangers don’t get back in. That’s not really the case for most of the teams though, because the other 10 teams just competed with themselves – it’s mainly Celtic that’s going to suffer. The competition for European places, the top 6 and avoiding relegation will be the same as usual.

    Jeff’s reply:

    Hi Stuart,

I take your point, but this is how I see it. Scottish football needs both Rangers and Celtic, even with them both it’s in a mess with the standard much poorer than in previous years.

No disrespect intended to the other ten teams but the League is about the competition between the Old Firm, I agree no other team stands a chance of winning the title, without Rangers, Celtic will be left without serious challengers. What that means is that games that were previously very important because points dropped against Hearts, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Dundee United, Aberdeen etc were vital as that could affect whether Rangers or Celtic actually won the title. The interest in those games would be significantly reduced because Celtic are still going to win the League even if they occasionally slip up. That means less interest in the games and less fans through the turnstiles.

Rangers v Celtic games are so special, the atmosphere is ten times better, no make that a hundred times, it will never be the same for any other game. Crowds will fall, I honestly believe that even Celtic’s own support will tire of watching one sided games and having no real competition. Less revenue for all could actually take some clubs to the wall, it will certainly reduce their ability to attract better players. For Celtic the lack of strong opposition is hardly like to assist them to compete in Europe.

Whilst neither side has actually covered themselves in glory in Europe in recent seasons, the chances of retaining or even enhancing the coefficient for Scottish teams, without both Rangers and Celtic is very unlikely.

Will Celtic be able to attract quality signings to a League that has fallen further and with less income will they be able to meet wage demands?

Rangers have to be punished, albeit the problems have been caused by Craig Whyte, but as he was in charge of the club at the time he did not pay creditors then regrettably the club carries the can.

It is a mess of gigantic proportions and Rangers have to be treated like any other wrongdoer, no special treatment is requested or deserved but the size of the club and the effect on Scottish Football with their demotion will open up many more problems for many clubs.

Ironically in the unlikely event of Rangers being allowed to move south they could eventually benefit from the situation and leave Celtic in an even worse position. That would really stick in the throats of those that are “having a party” at present and celebrating Rangers demise.

Scottish football has fallen from my youth when every top English side has a “Scot” in it, Rangers and Celtic attracted world class players and the national side competed against the best. It is a shadow of its former self and if anything good is going to come out of this sorry situation then perhaps the game has to be completely rejuvenated.

As a Rangers supporter I also take a more insular look at the situation and just want to see the team playing again, albeit in a new division with new players.

    Enjoy your football.

    Best Wishes

    Jeff

  19. Pablo whatever Celtic do will be wrong in some people’s eyes. I am quite happy for this to run and run until the season starts and Zombie FC don’t have a ground, a team and a league. I don’t know what Celtic can say or do that will make things worse for them…

CFC approached the Newco into the SPL nonsense correctly … The media would have pounced on us if we had led the charge to refuse them entry

However the situation that has developed re the SFL and the gerrymandering that has gone on is outrageous

I frankly don’t think that it is accurate to suggest that the fate of the Huns is for others to decide , one of the main proponents of this Newco div1 stitch up is the SPL of which CFC are a member ….to se we have no influence isn’t right

  26. The SFL vote on Rangers newco in the words of club chairmen STV

Scottish Football League chairmen from all 30 clubs are set to vote on which division they believe Rangers newco should be playing in next season.

Ahead of the vote at Hampden, STV spoke to a variety of representatives from SFL clubs to get their thoughts ahead of their decision.

Chairmen have also given their general thoughts on the voting process, the top-level administrators in the Scottish game and proposals for change.

    Scott Gardiner, Dundee

“We were told 10 days ago that we were conflicted. We got an email at 4:51pm last night saying Dundee had to vote. It’s inexplicable. We were told we had to vote.

“We want good, clear, honest leadership. I was sending emails at 1am and was still trying to get clarity at 6am. I’m perplexed.

“We are concerned the start of the season could be delayed because we don’t know which league we are in.

“Time is running out. We need clarity today and then the same on Monday (for the SPL vote).

“It isn’t appropriate to say how Dundee will vote. We don’t know the full facts yet. We don’t have enough info but we are told we will get more of that today.”

    Turnbull Hutton, Raith Rovers

“Some of the horror stories (we have been told) about the finances…15 months ago Neil Doncaster and Henry McLeish stood there and said it had to be a 10-team SPL or it was going to be financial Armageddon if that didn’t happen. Now we are talking about a 16-team SPL.

“There has been a degree of trust (in Stewart Regan) lost, yes.

“It is not for me to appoint a chief executive in SFA but if that face has gone and we have to do something to sort this mess out then maybe a new face, a new approach will be the way forward.”

    Henry McLelland, Annan Athletic

Mr McLelland suggested that both Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster should resign from their positions.

    John Yorkston, Dunfermline

“Dunfermline have made their position clear. I think that (Division 3) is the way it has got to go.

“We need to see what the ramifications are. Obviously other people are looking at the financial situation.

“I don’t think everybody necessarily believes those figures we’ve been given but if the figures are correct it is part of the pain we have to bear.”

“I don’t agree that putting Rangers in Division 3 would be the death of Scottish football. Rangers would work their way back up.

“I don’t know if anyone knows anything about Sevco. I know nothing about them other than what I have read in the media. We will ask the powers that be if they are confident Newco Rangers can satisfy their fixtures.

“Today is not the appropriate time to discuss any vote of no confidence in Stewart Regan or Neil Doncaster.”

  27. Dead and Loving it on

As far as I am concerned the statement from NL was quite diplomatic

What would you have him say?

Seems to me no matter what he does or says someone will find fault in it

Think that people have got to realise that Neil has got to act more statesman like and not just run off at the mouth

We are talking about somebody that very rarely goes through a day of his life without some form of abuse in this city of ours

How many other managers would have said , enough is enough

Think that you would probably find that more people have been found guilty of abusing NL than any other manager in the game

Don’t think that I would like to walk in his shoes even for a week

  28. Zbyszek@11:38

‘I don’t know how Capello won that contract’
