Creative options

Since July I’ve written about the over-dependence we have on Kris Commons as a creative player.  He’s pretty much our only option, and if he’s not fancied, injured, suspended or just off-form, we look like a team full of energy but without a key to open the door.

It may be that Ronny doesn’t figure on having a classic No. 10 in his team, and it’s more than possible that we won’t play one against European heavyweights, but against packed SPFL defences, we need someone who can create space in dangerous areas.

As we mentioned last month, some years ago Celtic reportedly looked at Bosnian international, Semir Stilic, while he was at Lech Poznan.  His star faded before a journey through Ukrainian and Turkish football before he returned to Poland with Wisla Krakow 12 months ago on an 18 month contract.  Since then he’s been a sensation and has kept Wisla in touch with the top of the table.

He’s refused a new contract offer from Wisla and is subject to a bid from Dinamo Zagreb, thought to be in the region of €250k.  He’s likely to be on circa €2k per week.  We’ve scouted the player, he’s soon out of contract, going cheap, on low wages, on form and we’re short of what he can give.

This is the kind of player Dinamo Zagreb pick up for buttons and enables them to compete as effectively as they did against Celtic with a fraction of our budget.  He has the making of an effective January signing.

Obviously hope I’m wrong, but I’ll be very surprised if Motherwell take anything from this game.

There was nothing seemingly about our initial reaction to Res. 12. The PLC wanted it buried.

Does that include Peter Lawwell and Neil Doncaster negotiating the TV deal for Sevco to the financial detriment of ourselves and all other SPFL clubs ?

With regards Sevco what battles have we chosen ?

Happy new year to you too.

  3. 67heaven,

Your ostrich like behaviour is comical

The decline of Celtic and their silence on everything is a concern to a growing number of supporters

one day when you extract your napper from the ground have a look around the 20k in Celtic park and the crap on the park

We have went from 60k to 30k in a decade a 50% decline — 20k and pay at the gate is not far away

As you are too busy living in your Celtic utopia in complete denial you will probably not notice

    Comical as I said earlier

I should add our clubs offixial position is Neil Doncasters too. He speaks for us and is paid to do so. I also believe that Peter Lawwell is a better negotiator than Neil Doncaster hence the TV deal.

That was the price that had to be paid to keep Sevco in the picture

That is not a strategy of choosing your battles but overtly fighting for the enemy.

  6. I’m not watching the sheep game but I want them to win today. A challenge would be great and might bring back some excitement and hopefully buck up our ideas.

Everyone is already talking about champions league qualifiers in January.

  7. Motherwell are rubbish. John Sutton is no Chris Sutton.

Aberdeen are better team but still a team we should be miles ahead of not one that we should be looking up

    At in January.

Aberdeen have played 1 more game than us but have won just as many as we have.

This is a seriously poor Celtic team

  8. Aberdeen moving the ball we’ll and keeping possession adeptly so far.

    Surprisingly enjoyable game.

Motherwell’s new manager is kidding on he isn’t bald, which has amused me slightly.

Amazing how these pages once held demands for Celtic to sign John Sutton.

    Agree with sentiment in post

Still feel our board keeping powder dry anticipating another event, or all too conscious of their corporate/social responsibilities

My own view if no changes there prior to Semi Final – the Celtic Board must speak up to support after game, regardless of, or despite result.

Anything said before that game would certainly escalate an already fraught situation.

Zero comment before game and an unambiguous – ‘we don’t support Doncaster’s statement etc.,’ within the week.

That would be a strong enough indication of intent for me.

  10. I wish we were playing today and I really hope the players are as hungry for some competitive action us the support. I think the blog needs a game too.

Aberdeen are fairly tidy, well organised and have several attacking options. Very little sideways passing…I like the look of Ryan Jack.

    Big night tomorrow.

  11. My view is our Board would put Celtic fans at risk by being seen to publicly putting boot in to the Huns.

Besides they are hellbent on self destruction there is no need to add petrol to the fire – it’s burning away nicely

  12. pfayr I want to win this league because we deserve it and are made to work for it. I don’t want to win because we have no challengers that can’t put a good run together.

We have already beat the sheep twice this season so as long as we keep winning?

  13. Ryan Jack is a really steady fast improving central midfielder . I’d take him no bother and Ive watched him

    For a couple of years..

  14. As things stand the league is in our own hands and we don’t need any favours from others. Of course fans of Aberdeen and Hamilton (as it stands) can also justifiably say the same thing.

  16. Why should anybody live in fear of sevco or their moronic fans.

I don’t need protected, I need the truth.

You would think it was the Nazi’s ffs.

Have we just to allow them to cheat?

Far too much of that kind of talk….Im for exposing the corruption and complicity, why would anyone want to ignore it,….for what, to pretend its not happening.

Look the other way is it?

No….I don’t think so….I don’t need protected from halfwits, ive nothing to fear.

    The truth will prevail.
