Creative options

Since July I’ve written about the over-dependence we have on Kris Commons as a creative player.  He’s pretty much our only option, and if he’s not fancied, injured, suspended or just off-form, we look like a team full of energy but without a key to open the door.

It may be that Ronny doesn’t figure on having a classic No. 10 in his team, and it’s more than possible that we won’t play one against European heavyweights, but against packed SPFL defences, we need someone who can create space in dangerous areas.

As we mentioned last month, some years ago Celtic reportedly looked at Bosnian international, Semir Stilic, while he was at Lech Poznan.  His star faded before a journey through Ukrainian and Turkish football before he returned to Poland with Wisla Krakow 12 months ago on an 18 month contract.  Since then he’s been a sensation and has kept Wisla in touch with the top of the table.

He’s refused a new contract offer from Wisla and is subject to a bid from Dinamo Zagreb, thought to be in the region of €250k.  He’s likely to be on circa €2k per week.  We’ve scouted the player, he’s soon out of contract, going cheap, on low wages, on form and we’re short of what he can give.

This is the kind of player Dinamo Zagreb pick up for buttons and enables them to compete as effectively as they did against Celtic with a fraction of our budget.  He has the making of an effective January signing.

Some posters on here seems to want Johansen as a holding player.

Utter madness. He can’t tackle and lacks and strength. Hasn’t kicked a ball playing in that position. Much more effective further forward.

Still think there needs to be three midfielders in the middle with two wide of a striker.

Agree about McGinn. Never fails to impress me when playing against Celtic.

Would like another leftback and centre half. Ambrose may be backup but he’s unreliable. Matthews also needs to be binned. He can’t do the basics, so is no use.

It’s a bit bitter and raw in Shangri La today; however today marks the perihelion, when the Earth’s orbit takes it closest to the ole Sun.

I know you were trying to have a dig, however you raise an interesting point.

How many supporters at the moment are fed up for a variety of reasons, its not just me in case you hadn’t noticed.

Whatever the reasons for not going to the game, supporters have a right to complain at the behaviour of the board, hence the empty spaces at CP.

I make a serious point, im not having a go.

“It’s f…..g heartbreaking that they seem to be coming out of LIQUIDATION,let’s remember, more unified than us.”

    Bobby,

That sounds an awful lot like the same club mantra that Donkey Doncaster spouts :o)

They were liquidated, which is terminal; they are finito, an ex football club, no more, expired, left their mortal coil, kaput, gone, never to return, extinguished, expurgated, extirpated, in fact – deid.

The fans think it’s the same because they are deluded sad acts.

The cowboys that bought the “fire sale” detritus try to sell it as the same club to make their money before they rode out of town,

The Creditors have been told it is not the same club and can whistle for their money.

The SFA/SPFL want it to be the same club for emotional reasons and for fear of the backlash of they don’t make them a special case.

Truth is they have never gone away – the great unwashed who still think SDM was a hero.

They may appear more united, but this apparent lack of dissension is precisely what led to the demise of the previous incarnation. If their loyalty blinds them then they are destined to repeat the mistakes they made in the past.

    Happy New Year friend

  15. So many remind us that the cheating has always with been with us, and that’s just the way it is. Apathetic silence will guarantee that we’ll never, ever, play on a level playing field. Back to the future and back to the back of the bus.

    Soldiers are we….

The power of silence, it does not break down barriers, it never levels a playing field either.
