Crimean clubs crossing, Bayern banner ban

750

We’ve been trailing the Ukraine-Russia Joint League plans, which was due to commence early next year, since they were first mooted in 2012.  Political will, met commercial money, and a football desire to put the merger of two large national leagues into the schedule.

Needless to say, these plans are off the agenda, although it’s easy to look back now and see why the political will was so forthcoming.  Note to Westminster, if you want to indulge in a bit of togetherness, put your shoulder behind building a relevant nationwide sporting infrastructure.

Instead of a Joint League, what the football authorities in Russia, Ukraine and Zurich are left with is a bit of a mess.  Crimean clubs, Sevastopli and Tavriya are midway through a season in the Ukrainian Premier League.  Russian minister for Sport, Vitaly Mutko, said, “From the beginning of next season Sevastopol and Tavria wiil join the Russian Premier League”, which will expand to accommodate them.

He told Russian media he had received assurances from Fifa that they would accommodate the change, adding, “We want a friendly relationship with Ukraine and do not want to disrupt their current championship.  When the season finishes in May we will be back in discussions to formulate the way forward.”

The Russian media report that Ukrainian FA are less interested in maintaining friendly relations with their eastern neighbours and have written to Fifa and Uefa asking them to ban Russian football if they take clubs from the Ukrainian FA without permission.  This claim has not been mentioned in the Ukrainian press, or on the Ukraine FA website – despite this being cited as the source in Russia, so it cannot be verified.

Clubs moving between national associations is a common occurrence, happening every year somewhere in the world, but I’m unaware of it happening without the approval of both FAs.  Notwithstanding that, there is zero chance Uefa or Fifa will block this transfer.  Two member clubs are in a problematic situation, they have a league which wants to take them. Uefa will approve.

Conspiracy theorists everywhere were confounded this morning when one of Europe’s most connected clubs, Bayern Munich, were issued with a partial stadium closure for their home Champions League quarter final against Manchester United, after fans displayed an offensive banner against Arsenal in the last round.  Homophobia was their offence of choice.

Seville – The Celtic Movement:

“After the game I asked a policeman the way to the station and he just pointed ahead…walked on to find myself in Porto Bus area…walked back – asked another Policeman and he pointed other way”.

  5. Are the delusionals falling for King’s schtick?

It’s designed for one thing only. When the SFA ‘block’ his investment they’ll ‘go to war’ and buy season books again. There’s nothing more at the heart of this.

Apart from anything else in order for King to invest £20M in a share issue at current prices sufficient shares would need to be released such that all the other investors would see their % holdings reduced to 1/3 of their current levels. This would also put King in the position of immediately breaching the mandatory takeover %, therefore having to buy up all the other shares anyway.

Are the other shareholders going to allow King to do that? I doubt it.

I was actually shocked to read your comment implying that somehow the Jews were as bad as the Nazi/ss because of the treatment meted out to the SS/Nazi after the war.

To compare anything or anyone in the modern historical era to the deranged and institutionally racist Nazi/SS, especially the Jews who were on the receiving end of this genocide shows a complete lack of reasonable thought and understanding of the plight of the Jews under these thugs.

I find your comment so repugnant that I am actually thinking of leaving this sight.

Maybe a trip to Belsen or one of the other centres of destruction may cleanse your mind of the type of comment you have posted.

Cheers BMCUW and Kit. If I have missed anyone please don’t take it as a slight. You are a truly wonderful group of people. :-) im off oot to sort things oot as some poster might have said if he could rhyme. :-P

You’re shocked by what, my post or your ignorance? I never said the Jews were worse than the Nazi’s or the SS, I invited you to read history and make your own mind up. And I’ll tell you this, you will not enjoy the reading, or you can forego the reading and just bury your head in the sand and go to your grave believing that we were always the guys in the white hats.

  10. The Bladder!

Step 1: The inner-tube has been blawn-up usually by means of a bicycle pump (on a rare day by means of a foot-pump cause someone’s Da has one in the back of his van).

Step 2: The valve is tied-off and tucked inside the leather spherical (allegedly) outer-skin. The skin is frequently scuffed and often shows evidence of raised stitching.

Step 3: The aperture is then laced-up (new laces are a novelty) – standard issue is normally; gnarled, twisted and knotted. It creates a protrusion – akin to a ‘ticking’ fuse!

The weapon is ready and primed – a sort of mini-version of the old Barnes Wallis bouncing bomb (as deployed by the Dambusters).

    The crime-scene!

Various; a mud-splattered pitch which tends to make the bomb heavier – the frozen-rutted pitch which makes the bomb’s trajectory difficult to anticipate (dodge) – and then there’s the dreaded cinder/ ash mine-field where the ‘wet’ bomb attracts a coating akin to heavy-duty sandpaper.

    The Victim!

    These are numerous but as far as I am aware I do not recollect any fatalities during my childhood. Examples of those who were injured in combat include;

The centre-forward/half who met the ‘laced-up’ section of the bomb flush on the forehead – often resembled someone who had had a frontal lobotomy.

GKs who suffered; dislocated/broken fingers, staved wrists and multiple bruising.

Defenders (part of a free-kick wall) who had the misfortune to block a shot with their thighs (or God Forbid – their haw-maws) – the pain was akin to being stung by a Portuguese-man-of-war (victims were often left with a dead-leg for 3 days or more).

This list is not exhaustive and further injury information will no doubt be released by the HSE under the FOI 50 year rule! :-)

Thanks. I suspected LG was onside. I don’t think the referees are quite as bad as they once were, but the linesmen make up for it.

If that was meant for me there is nothing I have ever posted that I would not have the guts to say to a persons face and be able to validate my words without malice.

Anyone want to talk about Celtic for a change ?

    Yes, I do too.

Favourite 3 home strips and favourite 3 away strips.

    HOME

    1. Lisbon 1967……obviously.

    2. Centenary 1988……the Maestro at his best. The Celtic cross as the badge. Heaven.

    3. 1980….so simple, lovely V-neck, no sponsor, worn in the 1980 cup final and also against Real Madrid ( Johnny Doyle and George McCluskey scored )

    AWAY

    1. Lime Green 1984-86, worn in the 5-0 demolitions of Sporting Lisbon and St.Mirren

    2. 1982-83 Green with white pinstripes, V-neck, worn against Ajax when we won 2-1 away from home.

    3. 1982-83 White with green pinstripes, V-neck ( the opposite of number 2 ). Again so simple but effective.

” I don’t think the referees are quite as bad as they once were, but the linesmen make up for it.”

That`s what I said after the game on Saturday. The “offsides” were given by the linesmen and the `keeper`s foul on Griffiths was much easier to spot from the line. I thought the ref was pretty fair.

I’m glad it was not directed at me because if my memory serves, in all the years I’ve been on here, I’ve never read another poster ever say they’d be happy to take an Israeli flag into Parkhead other then me. Education is not everything, compassion is.

I cannot understand why you are getting so exercised about further referendums? There wont be any. September 19 will see to that
