Dear SFA, a joke hurt our feelings

1666

Can you imagine how a formal complaint about the comment ‘Rory Bremner can pretend to be Tony Blair’ would be composed?

‘Dear SFA, a rude man’s joke hurt our feelings.  Tell him straight, no more jokes!’

I clicked onto the NEW club’s site to confirm their reaction.  As well as complaining about a joke [it wouldn’t hurt if it wasn’t true], they complain about the Daily Record, “the paper is riddled from top to bottom with an anti-Rangers bias”, just to prove they also have a sense of humour.

They also attempted to put a stake in the ground by affirming that Pinsent Masons, now representing Scotland’s champions and sole Champions League participants, did not report to the police that Craig Whyte has any connection to the club/company.

No one has ever suggested that Pinsent Masons made such a report.  This is a bit like insisting that Ally McCoist will not manage the Champions League winners this season.  Pinsent Masons were far too busy taking instructions from their top client’s chief executive, in his non-comedic role.

What a laugh!

Does anyone else get “Shockwave Flash not responding” then “Shockwave Flash has crashed” when using Google Chrome?

Over 2 months now and i still have’nt cured it ?

    ==================================

2 months? I’ve had it for years since stopped using Internet Explorer – think it might be something to do with all the adverts.

  4. Rory Bremner, the lucky sod,got up and close with that little hottie Penny Smith for a while.

Tony, the war criminal, gets to wake up next to Cherie the wide mouth frog.

Don’t think even for one minute that Rory would want to be Blair if that was the first thing he woke up to every morning.Assuming that his conscience let him sleep in the first place.

Valentine’s Day – cheers. I recognise that name from over the years. Can’t recall though if she is still a regular poster. Something sticks in my mind that she, as JF, was upsetting a lot of people a few years ago with her strong stance on something. Sounds like she has redeemed herself as the people’s champion for now.

  6. Nice article Paul67. I was wondering how the SFA would respond and exactly what the nature of the ‘complaint’ would be from Nu Rangers. ‘That guy implied we are not the same entity’ – the response?? ’em, well, OK, we didn’t like it that much but what do you want us to do?’ – ‘nothing really, it’s just our supporters will want to hear us making some noise about it’ ‘Aye, message received, we’ll file that under ‘can of worms, do not open’ in case we have to ‘prove’ you are the same club – you know where that will end….. and you really don’t want to pay those debts Craigy and chums left behind!!! LOL FTP WATP!! Love from Campbell’

    Aye, that’ll be it.

  8. Burgas Hoops – Google Chrome – I was recommended it a few years back and thought it was great but of late it has been a disaster. Computer geek I was talking to told me to stay away from it. So I have and I get a lot less problems. On the computer anyway….. the rest of life, Google Chrome seems to have little effect and the problems keep heading my way…..

  12. Here is some random information for you:

I was gonny give up the drink for November. Lasted 5 days.

Now, when I drink it is a couple of bottles of beer and maybe a whiskey or two and it would be once a week, maybe twice on occasion.

But my will power has died lately.

It’ll be January before I attempt it again.

The Internet needed to know that and now it does. Rest easy…..

And another random thought – TIm O’Brien and Darrell Scott, you may have seen them on Transatlantic Sessions, by jasus they are great. If you are in to American Folk, Bulegrass, Blues, Country do yourself a favour and Check them out. Been about for years but I’ve just caught on to them. Wow.

  13. Just playing catch-up here. Good to meet some more CQNers yesterday, unfortunately, I had to leave just before Billy No’Well started, to go and meet Mrs. JTT.

Thanks must go to Morrisey and BRTH, for explaining to this thicko, the possible scenarios resulting from the adjournment of Resolution 12, I am even more confident now, that we’ll prevail in this matter.

  20. Most jibes that are hurtful are so because the victim thinks it might be true.

A fat accountant or lawyer would not mind if somebody labelled him uneducated because that is not true.

Make a joke about his weight and that’s a different matter.

Top of the morning to you all from Fife where, though it is dry, the wind is fairly scudding the grey clouds away to the east.

Normally my Saturday would begin with a walk in the country, but recently I have been unable to do this as I have been travelling to Little France to see my son who has had major surgery in the Royal Infrimary.

I don’t normally give too much detail of my family, or their troubles, preferring to hide behind the cloak of anonymity of Big Nan, however events in the Scottish Parliament earlier in the week blew whatever cover I had.

This week has convinced me of what a boon this forum is. I had some idea that it was a good place where decent folk of all shades exchanged diverse views, but didn’t realise just how strong a branch of a Celtic family we are.

Like all families, we laugh, cry, and argue together, there is a good streak of the charitable ethos of our founder still running in the veins, but most importantly there is a basic fairness that comes to the fore when wreckers try to cause division by attacking one of us unreasonably.

For almost a lifetime I have been aware that Masonic chancers, often sectarian in their outlook (as opposed to decent freemasons) have blighted the lives of many in the engineering industry I worked in.

In retirement and with no financial or business pressures to constrain me I have been able to challenge this organisation, a body that I see as the very antithesis of meritocracy, and I did this unsuccessfully in 2000 and again this year in the hope that this taboo topic can come under scrutiny and reform.

The fact that many of the 3,116 supporters from my petition came from this site was heartening for me, especially considering the air of menace that attaches itself to the Craft.

However the level of support I received from CQN after I had addressed the Public Petitions Committee on Tuesday simply exceeded my wildest expectations. Some of the many compliments I received were tinged with relief that I had not let the side down, again like elders judging a younger family member!

So, though I have tried to thank all those who directed comments towards me I am going to have to spend less time on the site and would take this opportunity to say thank you to one and all for your support. I have been complimented by Oxford scholars, academics in the law, law students, all sorts of people, but the most treasured plaudit’s were those posted on this site. Thank you again.

P.S. I should have reported the reason for spending less time on CQN was the good news that I brought my bhoy (Celtic SB/Shareholder) Kevin home yesterday and he is staying with us to convalesce and hopefully make a full recovery.

P.P.S. Breaking story and it’s more good news! The postman has just delivered the most generous gift from a Hebridean poster on this site. 2 lg Black and 1 lg White McLeod’s of Stornoway puddings, plus 2 pkts of Hot Smoked salmon. Now if this doesn’t prove we are more than just a set of internet bampots supporting more than just a club I don’t know what would.

Have to say in all my working life I have never found accountants to be the sharpest tools in the box.

There are far better educated people in most lines of work than number crunchers in my experience.
