As news of the goal deluge from the Bernabeu arrived last night it must have caused some reflection at Celtic. Real Madrid thumped Malmo, our eliminators, 8-0. Malmo are not, after all, this season’s surprise packages.
European football is an unforgiving environment, not just for the minnows. Roma, who are currently second in their Champions League group, lost 6-1 in Barcelona two weeks ago. That result came on the back of Bayern Munich taking a 0-5 lead inside 36 minutes in front of 70,000 fans in Rome in last season’s tournament. Bayern went on to win 1-7 in what was supposed to be a game which changed Roma’s ways.
Roma are a good team, currently fourth in Serie A, but their expansive tendencies have earned them humiliating results against teams capable of exploiting them.
Rule No. 1 in Europe is to be defensively disciplined. If you don’t have that aspect of the game figures out, you are as well not competing.
While John Collins was no doubt sincere in saying he could see tonight’s game far enough, he should be relishing the opportunity to test his defence against a European team. This is our last chance before next season’s qualifiers. It is a precious occasion to test tactics.
Thanks to everyone who has bought Winds of Change, and for the fantastic feedback on what was an incredible era to be a Celtic supporter.

Counsel for SD notes King said to Sky News be wanted to “restructure relationship”
“And you want to put him in prison for that?” judge asks
Joe Filippis Haircut………….I don’t pay money to watch now. Binned my 2 SB’s last year (after many years) as I cannot do Sunday football due to family commitments. 4 games last season at 3 on a Saturday.
celtic40me……..No, I didn’t but I know what they are up to, it’s slave labour and inhuman.
Ah the old judges er…society at work yet again.
What a surprise.
HH
HMRC will be watching with interest.
Judge unusually concentrating on the ‘spirit of the law’ rather than the ‘letter of the law’ e.g. “what is the harm” – surely he must uphold the law regardless of the impact – like introducing a sliding scale on dangerous driving dependent on the damage caused…bewildering!!!!
If SD’s legal team are the best money can buy can I suggest Mike just watches an Ally McBeal box set and represents himself the next time.
One thing for sure Ashley now knows what he is dealing with and will act accordingly, he wont be a happy camper

King’s affadavit says “I cannot recall if all the quotes in the article were made by me”

Judge “Just because journalists say something doesn’t mean it’s true”
I can’t see that Ashley saw this as anything other than a long shot, a warning, a nuisance and a way of hitting the huns where it hurts most at the moment, in the wallet.
Seems to me like the judge is making them prove the charges, it might seem that he’s taking sides but when theres the chance of sending a man to prison there has to be a very high burden of proof on something like this

Judge on Sky reporter Jim Whyte “Did Mr King give him a nice lunch and refreshments? A bottle of wine?”
Tonight’s game…
Is it important?
For the players it will only be important if current management team are in place next season.
For management – tonight’s result could determine if they are in place next season. If we win – they buy some time. If we draw – the jury is still out. If we get pumped it accellerates the inevitable.
What is the ievitable?
I like to think the inevitable is bye bye to John Colins and John Kennedy. Ronny? He has qualities I like. He has been bled in Europe and hopefully learned from it. I wouldn’t be averse to RD being given an opportunity to bring his own guys in and give it a go. However if we lose and its an all or nothing to go out the door – I believe they should all get their marching orders…

Counsel for SD asked if he has contacted Jim Whyte?
I don’t think so, barrister replies.

Its not nothing, and there’s been a big drop in the share price today, although that might due to the poor results they announced

Case against Dave King for contempt dismissed by judge
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/dec/09/how-sports-direct-effectively-pays-below-minimum-wage-pay
Everyone on here for weeks assumed Ashley would trounce DK because he has relatively unlimited funds. Wake up call here. The dark side infiltrates everywhere.
To be honest, I thought this was a pretty stupid charge to aim at DK in the first place. Like the Edinburgh HMRC case, there is room for a judge to use common sense and King said nothing in the interviews that in any way endangered Ashley’s commercial agreements. A case of a wee shit getting bullied by a big shit.
James Doleman @jamesdoleman · 25 secs25 seconds ago
Judge however wants a full trial of King on a further matter, wants it held in January.
its no victory for the huns this, it doesn’t change anything although in their tiny world where everything comes down to wins and losses it will be spun as getting it up ashley. How much are they down from this?
James Doleman @jamesdoleman · 2 mins2 minutes ago
Judge “I really wonder what the point of all this was, £400, 000 gone”
As the case closes the judge leads the rest of court in a rousing rendition of No Popes of Rome
“Did Mr King give him a nice lunch and refreshments? A bottle of wine?”
I hadn’t realised that it was Judge Rinder adjudicating.

Judge signs off, telling SD counsel, ‘Please remind Mr.Ashley that we arra peepil…’
Probably.
Guardian expose on Big Mike yesterday….coincidence, I think not.
Secret power flexing their muscles.
Very disturbing .
HH
Well well well, I was 100% wrong with my prediction.
I thought glibby would get a slap on the wrist.
Instead the goatfiddling judge handed the SD brief his briefs on a plate.
Hopefully Mash is pissed off now.

Court will be sitting this afternoon to discuss terms of injunction Sports Direct have against RIFC
C,mon Mike….Let them know you are not a man to be trifled with.
Buy them over, and then demolish ipox…..and build a SD megastore and Car Park.
C,mon Mike, they are laughing at you, what are you going to do about it?
HH
Bit of a damp squib – couldn’t see much in it (apart from the unseen paperwork).
No doubt the GASL will blab and blab and be feted by the SMSM – 8-page colour supplements and wall-to-wall interviews.
Maybe today’s case was a bit of a ‘Trojan Horse’ – a precursor to the other upcoming court case? Who knows?
