Dilemma of youth development

1406

I know squad numbers are limited but I’m disappointed Eoghan O’Connell has not been retained. In his performances early last season he displayed the attributes of a modern-day footballing central defender. He has a future in the game and will do well wherever he goes next.

The perennial dilemma of youth development is that while teams want to improve performances NOW, they also need to leave space for worthy development squad candidates to grow into. Kieran Tierney got there, but the truth is, Celtic had been trying to sign a left back for year but were unable find anyone of the necessary standard. If we did, Kieran, Eoghan, would never have had the chance.

How are you, mate? Hope your summer is going well.

I’m having a good day. I just finished my case this afternoon, and found out that my case for Monday has been adjourned … so I dont have to work this weekend!

The lovely doc (my doc, not CQN’s doc ….although I am sure he is lovely, too) is cooking dinner tonight! This does not happen often, so I am going to enjoy it!

I am not a fan of Tories… but you have to give Ms. May some credit … she almost got the warring Labour/SNP/SF factions united …. even if only in their hatred of her! That is no mean feat.

Big Packy …. nah … used to be a striker, and a left footer. Do I look like a right winger?

It’s looks a very decent summary of events, I read the 16 things we learned and there you have it, the men who “murdered” Rangers.

Will read the rest tomorrow, too late tonight now after last nights nightshift:))

Auldhid …. didn’t Celtic just announce 50,000 season tickets sold this week …. I think Celtic’s attitude will be – as long as fans are prepared to keep paying, they wont rock the boat.

    =================

In which case everyone should be grateful to those who do care enough about fairness that rather than deal with Res12 Celtic went about putting an entertaining team on the park. :)

However should there be slippage and that mob cheat there way back into a competitive position, what then?

But you are correct if no one cares about getting SFA reform why should folk like myself bother?

Personally I’m satisfied that I now know that Rangers did lie to get the licence and the SFA and UEFA when it became clear something was amiss agreed to cover it up, hence Celtic’s reluctance to ask UEFA to investigate something that UEFA already had the answers to. Corrupt all the way up.

I’ll still watch and cheer Celtic on but it will not cost me anything so that I’ll not get annoyed at anything that favours The Rangers when it shouldn’t and I’ll not be paying to be cheated.

I’ve found a great pub to watch in.

    BBC report the truth shocker.

    This made me smile

Johnston told the BBC: “Oh yeah I feel misled because these guys knew, the bank and the Murray executives, their accountants, their lawyers, they knew why we were asking [for the assurance].

==========> “The answer came back with what I would call technical evasion.

A bit like Johnson’s statement in Rangers 2011 Interim Accounts.

It wasn’t necessarily a bad decision to call a general election. The decision to leave the EU was conclusive however nobody has a mandate on what the terms of the exit should be. As there is no mandate those awkward folks in the House of Lords who wanted to remain were going to play around with May’s agenda and cause havoc with her two year deadline. What May wanted from this election was a mandate for a hard brexit. Labour were in an absolute mess so the timing was good. What followed was one of the worst campaigns in history both on a political and personal level from May’s side. Corbyn was underestimated but May gave him momentum by hiding away, her arrogance with an awful manifesto and displaying poor judgement with u-turns and such like. Many voters also rejected the MSM agenda which pushed too hard against Corbyn.

  11. Ah

That sounds as if you are now giving up just to be sure are you giving res 12 up due to a refusal of celtic uefa and the Scottish football association to deal with this.

  12. mike in toronto on

auldheid … we all have to do what we are comfortable with … and live with that ….

I would hope/expect that, regardless of the outcome, you must have derived a great deal of satisfaction from the work that you guys have put in … in my business, sometimes the balls dont fall your way, and you have to be content to know that you fought a good fight for a good cause … I hope you guys feel that way …

and, of course, being Celtic fans… there is a a bit of a romantic in all of us… so, there will always be a bit of me that will hold out hope that the Board will wake up and do the right thing… the fans deserve it .. the four of you more than the rest of us.

Thank but we ALL deserve better.

We had the piss ripped out of us from 2000 , as a club we had to spend big money to compete in the early years under MoN, then when the debt caused us to reverse, we got the piss ripped again when that mob, under the SFA’s governance, embarked on further unsustainable spending using tax payers money and dividing the Celtic support.

I’d want some assurances that measures have been put in place to avoid a repeat before spending a penny but not enough seem to care as long as we are winning.

The same folk and the same thinking are still in place at Ibrox and clearly get some protection, but as long as we are winning we rip the piss instead. Long may it continue.

At the core I think self respect comes into it and to honour that a stand has to be made..

Perhaps the Board as Celtic supporters rather than Board members will finally act out of self respect.

Until they do they have lost mine.

  16. Some people don’t like politics being discussed on this bhlog but I find it very educational.

The result of the Uk election is important for Ireland, not just because of the Good Friday Agreement, Brexit and the large number of Irish people living on the UK. Economically, culturally and socially there are lots of important links between us.

The DUP are a disgusting political party, a throwback to three centuries ago. Their support for the Tory party is hardly surprising but I can’t see any long term good coming out of it.

Fair play to Jeremy Corbyn for persevering, despite the hostility within his own party and the MSM.

Off to mo leaba now. Next best news for me will be Paddy Roberts signing for us.

Cannot believe May is still in no10. As if losing a majority wasn’t bad enough, she promised ‘strong and stable’ Government. What has transpired is anything but. She will be laughed out of Brexit negotiations as her credibility is shot to bits. Her own party hate her and are lining up to thrown her to the wolves. She stood on the steps of Downing Street today and called the DUP ‘friends and allies’. WTF? Has she no shame? At least Cameron fell on his sword. The lengths these people do to cling onto power. Just go FFS.

Hello again all you young rebels.

It’s National Celtic Festival weekend at Port Arlington on

the Bellarine peninsula here in Oz, for anybody interested

you can listen to the enchanting sounds of the pipes, the

beat of the bodran or even pop into a poetry recital all

followed by a creamy pint of Guinness.

    Alternatively.

You can wait till next Sunday which is our big Celtic day and

you can listen to the enchanting sound of PADDYMACOZ

singing the… Glasgow cat..listen to the beat of the BOTOB

and listen to a recital of the usual pash from the likes of

my good self all followed by plenty of pints of Guinness.

But why not attend both? after all we’re all part of the

biggest and bestest family in the world.

    The Celtic family…Wha’s like us.

  21. I notice not many of us are arsed about the Scotland England game the morra. Now I live in England and they don’t seem that bothered either.

In pub tonight, a friend of a friend Hun, says, I hope we f*** you tomorrow. He’s a Scot. Lived here for years. Apparently all the Scotland team is full of fenians.

Aw I thought it was the snp who done that according to laboury socialisty type unionists on here

    Both are cobblers

Lab after their precarious ‘pact’ with the libs failed were already on a timer.chicago school economic policies were introduced by Denis Healey so the IMF would bail the country out.implementation of these structural adjustment progs ensured wide ranging public expenditure cuts and industrial unrest (where was your garbage stacked?).

Tis awkward I know introducing the concept of memory to the labour party 75-79 but in many shameful ways they out thatchered thatcher herself.
