Dilemma of youth development

1406

I know squad numbers are limited but I’m disappointed Eoghan O’Connell has not been retained. In his performances early last season he displayed the attributes of a modern-day footballing central defender. He has a future in the game and will do well wherever he goes next.

The perennial dilemma of youth development is that while teams want to improve performances NOW, they also need to leave space for worthy development squad candidates to grow into. Kieran Tierney got there, but the truth is, Celtic had been trying to sign a left back for year but were unable find anyone of the necessary standard. If we did, Kieran, Eoghan, would never have had the chance.

I think the tories and DUP need to do some serious bonding-you know, find something they have in common and spend some time just going for it.

This looks just the ticket for them,it’s during the summer recess and just before the conference season. Ideal, really.

    http://www.goatfest.co.uk

  15. In the U.K. The Tory party cling on to power with a dubious pact with the devil. It won’t last and there will almost certainly be another General Election.

In Scotland, the government is being found out. In truth they are as bad as the Tories. They gladly pass on their austerity measures. They attack our public services relentlessly, and when they get questioned , it’s standard answer is ” It’s all big bad Westminster’s fault.

Wrong, they have sweeping powers over welfare and taxation. Powers that they demanded, yet refuse to use . They have the power to implement so much to improve the lives of our poor and most vulnerable. FFS, they even voted down the ability to scrap the UK wide cap on NHS pay.

Our poorest and most vulnerable need action not soundbytes.

No wonder their vote was down in every single constituency. They are being found out big time. Under their watch; education, health , policing etc, etc are going backwards. Everything is surplus to requirements in the quest for one overriding divisive issue.

IMO, the SNP and their cowardly friends : The So called Scottish Greens should be held accountable, and subsequently treated in the exact same manner many on here treat the Tory party. Again, IMO to do anything else is plain hypocrisy.

Sorry for the rant, but the effects of austerity cuts from a black and yellow source is everybit as devastating as cuts from a blue source. This is the truth.

    Hail, Hail.

Right you lot, just when you thought your day couldn’t get any better I have some news for you.

After tomorrow morn I’m taking a break from the routine of the ole daily EK weather REPORTS. I think I’ve been posting these for something like 7 years now and I’ve often thought of chucking it. I mean, what purpose does it servve, really?

But at various CQN gatherings a number of folk have encouraged me to carry on, not because they actually cares about the EK weather but, rather, that it signified the start of a new day on the Blog and dare I say it they didn’t want to read further back into the ole Moonhowler territory! Their words, not mine. However, these very kind sentiments encouraged me to continue with my rubbish.

Of course for the past year or so we have had the very excellent fellow South Curver with his ‘word for the day’. And, just as significantly, we have Ianbhoy929 with his equally relevant weather reports from East Devon.

Both of those fine posters can be regarded as setting the ‘new day’ bookmarks, I’m sure you would agree.

It’ll be hard to resist posting each morning as I will still log on and read the blog over my breakfast. But I’ve ran out of new words to describe the micro climate of EK.

Obviously this is NOT a flounce as I’ll continue to post rubbish about, amongst other things, my unsuccessful betting tips, my ParkRun time, the Scotland National Team, and my respect for Gilbert O’Sullivan, Gerry Rafferty and many others. And that’s apart from Goals For Shay and CQN Couponeers…

The earth will continue to turn I’m sure.

Not a long time poster but I do understand people’s view that your post was good to roll back to to avoid the ” howling” period.

Anyway I look forward to East Devon weather, word of the day, and wish you a happy weather retirement.

Weather in Salamanca blue skies and 25 degrees to go to 31, probably close to EK!!!
