Dilemma of youth development

1406

I know squad numbers are limited but I’m disappointed Eoghan O’Connell has not been retained. In his performances early last season he displayed the attributes of a modern-day footballing central defender. He has a future in the game and will do well wherever he goes next.

The perennial dilemma of youth development is that while teams want to improve performances NOW, they also need to leave space for worthy development squad candidates to grow into. Kieran Tierney got there, but the truth is, Celtic had been trying to sign a left back for year but were unable find anyone of the necessary standard. If we did, Kieran, Eoghan, would never have had the chance.

There is a bit of the chicken and egg here with regards to views of supporters of other clubs.

In the absence of a gathering point to meet, discuss shared concerns and realise that as supporters we are being shafted by those running the game then it’s not surprising some/many take the view you articulated.

But if such a mechanism for supporters to judge their clubs performance across the full spectrum, that is not just football results, was created then other matters will surface and provide a platform around which a union can coalesce.

Change the information which feeds the views you echoed and you change the thinking that caused them.

Reminds me of Wayne World. Build it and they will come.

    Auldheid, thanks for the reply.

I live in hope that there can be a situation where representatives of fans’ groups from other clubs get together to reach a consensus on cleaning up the SFA.

A Dundee United fan I work and get on very well with , is the one whose attitude I find hard to understand. Between the infamous Mike McCurry game at Ibrox and the League Cup final where united had a stonewaller turned down . Two , games where United played against EBT funded players , he is not interested at all in making the SFA more accountable as its nothing to do with his club.

    Jimmynotpaul, you’re welcome.

I referred to him as fork andles for a while as he was working in a hardware shop after he left our place .

There is Naples themed pizzeria in Renfield Street which has two Napoli flags outside it and wee advertising hoarding outside the front door of Diego Maradona in his Napoli strip. Its a celebration of Diego’s part in Napoli winning the Scudetto in the 80’s.

They might have to move the hoarding inside as some visting fans from down South might get annoyed seeing a picture of Maradona.

That didn’t take long, for the Blairities to crawl out the woodwork.

Rgarding the election – – we all know the agenda of the majority of newspapers, especially the Daily Mail and Sun and all the utter crap they spouted re Corbyn. Worrying thing is that the morons who read that merde think it true “cos it’s in the papers”

Don’t know what Corbyns Legal team are doing but if I were him I’d be looking at all the crap they wrote. Another thing, what ever happened to newspapers, yes, NEWS papers!!!!!!All we get now are opinions by some half witted cretin trying to make a name for themselves. Pure and utter shoite. Corbyn would have won the election had it not been for the rubbish printed, and the mugs believed it, what does that telll you.

Although I cannot put a date on it, at some point the media moved from reporting the news to trying to make the news.

  12. On Thursday morning the Daily Mail went to great lengths to link Jeremy Corbyn to terrorism.

Is it safe to assume that it will investigate possible links between DUP and terrorism.

    Don’t hold your breath waiting.

Best chanters on earth WITS, no doubt about it.

A few years ago was down with the ones from work, Christmas drink, the Sunday night we hit a mental pub in China town – all north siders, singing away karaoke.

The Monk and his cronies were in the place, before all the nonsense.

Anyway, they did a sweep – 2 euro or something – pick a football team,I took Ipswich some stupid team – was even thinking to maself, please don’t win this damn thing – low and behold, Ipswich was the team – my name was called out and the entire pub just went silent when a put up my hand, they all stared over at is.

Regulars doing that sweep every week in life, not even getting close to winning, then some Nordie clown stranger wins it.

80 euro think the prize money was.

Ended up spending about 100 euro buying the people drink fs – Oul dolls at the bar and all – what do yiz want to drink, ordering double Jamesons!

Finished up in Barrys hotel disco.

    Crazy but outstanding.

    Real Dubs, proper Celts.
