Dissonance as well as rubbish football afflicts Hearts

1078

Our old friend Cognitive Dissonance was at play again last night.  Hearts manager, Paolo Sergio, seemed to accept Stephen Elliot’s second minute attempt was cleared so quickly officials might not have had a chance to ascertain if it crossed the line, but he tried to reconcile his frustration at this reality by publicly adopting a position which, on reflection, he should accept is in contravention to the rules of the game.

Elliot’s attempt struck Joe Ledley, who was standing on the line with his arms stationary and by his side, before being cleared by Fraser Forster.

Sergio said, “If you don’t see the ball over the line then you should see the handball which is a penalty and a red card.”

It’s scarcely credible that the Hearts manager is unaware of the rules of the game which clearly establish that for a handball offence to be committed the player needs to deliberately use a hand or arm to play the ball, not have the ball played against his stationary hand or arm.

No one had much of a clue whether the ball had crossed the line or not until after watching multiple TV replays and even then, while I can understand the attacking team claiming a goal, TV evidence does not provide conclusive proof that the whole of the ball crossed the line.

This will no doubt be the source of Sergio’s frustration; his team could have taken the lead but didn’t.  Armed with this frustration he then created a false scenario which allowed him to reconcile his feelings of grievance.

What a shower.  Struggling to operate in the SPL and pay tax, disorganised team structure and afflicted by football’s Cognitive Dissonance epidemic.

Just when you think you’ve heard it all here, there is always more.

I thought even making the move for Cousin was a joke. I frankly refused to believe they were that desperate. But then I heard McCoist confirmed it. How much more ridicule does that guy want to subject himself to? He has gone on TV again today and talked about a player he wants only to discover the higher-ups aren’t interested.

I could sympathise with an Edinburgh based paper (Evening news) having a biased view of events on and off the field last night as their main agenda is to sell as many rags as possible to the biggest majority of their potential buyers… i.e capitals ESTABLISHMENT club supporters…..

however, the beauty is…. i say print the inaccuracies…. make up a little more, contact the local constabulary, slay us sellik fans, feenyuns, tarriurs etc etc

    WHY i hear you ask?

Well, it was not Celtic football club who was in charge of spectators safety, it was Hearts football club, and with any luck in the world, they will be fined for not having the proper policing/security/strategy in place to protect all concerned for the second occasion in recent times!

Even if they are fined a tenner… it could sink them further!

All being equal though, as much as i dispise the typical hertz fan, We as Celtic supporters have a duty to be better than the inbred scum and not react to them ( if the reports are factual)

Surley its the job of the stewards and the police in the stadium to pull out and arrest anyone throwing anything at the players or anyone else for that matter now I dont think it is the job of the media.the fact that there were no arrests last night for throwing objects suggests to me it never happenned.I have just watched a fawnning interview with fat Saly on the STV news the interviewer almost imploring that he couldnt let the orcs fall any further behind or the season would be over. They are hurting big time now on BBC news the need for goal line technology to Lennie and the Bhoys keep rubbing there nose in it.H.H.

    Browns celebration last night

Seen Michael Higdon was givin a ban for a so called gesture in the centre circle a few weeks ago, will Brown be disciplined for celebrating right in front of the Hearts fans in a git it right up you way?

Anyone got the email address for the sfa compliance officer?

    _________________________________________

The phrick did it twice within 20 secs of the 1st one.

IMO this was incitement on Brown’s part – he is an ex HIVS player and his gestures could have caused a Hearts fan to invade the pitch.

You would have thought the officials and the police would have told the players not to do anything that could cause trouble.

    __________________________________________

    Re: Browns celebration last night

His celebration stems from a season in which he failed as Celtic skipper once more. A pathetic in your face moment to Diouf that was ultimately eclipsed when Diouf had the last laugh with two medals.

JF,Johann-It looks very like they are trying to pi$£ Sally off,and try to get him to walk.As Rogue Leader alludes to,he has a sacking clause worth a few bob.

  17. The player involved with Big Mick McCarthy was indeed Crawford Baptie.

Mick did NOT walk off the park before the sending off was administered.

The referee who showed him the red card was another Big Mick.

Clydebank’s Mick McGinley, a bigger Celtic man than the current Wolves manager.

    God Bless both Big Micks.

Apologies if already mentioned.Am I the only one that finds it VERY strange that the orcs have loaned one of their top youngsters to the mighty Albion Rovers?

Reason being, one Paul Martin is the manager of the Rovers. The very same Paul Martin who is the director of the company suing Whyte for approx £50,000!The case where the perjury allegations are coming from. The “I cannot recall”(when asked about his 7 year ban)came during this case.

Is it normal for an owner to give a player to a person who is directly involved in suing him?Is it part of a hush deal? All very strange

  21. I’m not buying this Cousin story, all a bit odd. Why is McKay on radio telling all and sundry that Cousin is willing to take 5k from them with 20k on table from Birmingham?

I get the impression a favour’s been called in here, now who called it is to me where the story lies. McKay and Minty go back a long way, Boumsong for instance? Now suppose you want to make Whyte look silly and look as if he’s working against McCoist and Rangers best interests. Cousin without a club in more than 6months is suddenly in demand and is willing, nay desperate to sign for ra gers but bad old Whytey won’t get in touch to finalise the deal.

To me this is McCoist trying to force Whyte’s hand in a back me or sack me decision. Whyte ain’t gonnamsack him cos his contract is watertight and McCoist won’t walk cos his contract is watertight. This is hun on hun action in a battle for the moral high ground.

Mckay has just been a wee bit quick and loose of tongue for me to believe anything else. The tales of private jets and easy negotiations on Shortbread just now just seemed to be a pr excercise to me, ie how great Minty was compared to bad old Whytey.

    Evening lads,

Roger Hannah on SSB there saying Murray took advice on EBTs and they said they were ok, Whyte took advice on them and they said EBTs were ok.

    Total nonsense.

Whyte’s interview on SOS stated that EBTs were still ongoing with directors of the club when he took over, and he immediately put a stop to them.

So obviously he did not think they were legal afterall.

It follows then that he bought the club KNOWING that the ruling would go against them.

Liquidation/ administration was always the the end game. He gets the club debt free and takes ticketus money in the meantime.

    It all makes sense

Cue the silence of the morgue where a pin drop would sound earth shattering when McKays sullen voice said nope it isnay happening tonight

McKay, Cousins agent said Whytey was not answering his phone the deal was not even fifty fifty and the funniest bit of all Daniel wants to come back to Rangers for a fraction of what Birmingham City are offering him ie they are offering 20 grand a week and Rangers are paying 5

RFC are not only making a laughing stock of themselves they are making a laughing stock of their media stooges

While McKay was talking in sombre tones about the deal saying this would not happen under Mintys regime on STV they were telling us Cousin could go straight into the team against Dunfermline
