Saturday’s victory is unlikely to feature in the season’s highlights DVD but it was our ninth consecutive domestic win and despite a few shaky moments at the back we’ve conceded only twice during that run. That compares to only three clean sheets in our nine previous domestic games.
Despite selecting from the same personnel, Celtic have a vastly improved defensive unit; comparable to last season’s record breakers.
Europe is different. We conceded home and away to Salzburg and Astra, keeping a clean-sheet only at home to Thursday’s opponents, Dinamo Zagreb.
Done in the name of Celtic fans yesterday:
Did you read that the Celtic Foundation hosted 120 people who use the services of the Glasgow Simon Community yesterday? The Community have assisted the homeless for over 40 years. Community chief exec, Lorraine McGrath, said, “Too many people still find themselves without a home; more than 6500 people registered as homeless in Glasgow last year alone.”
You can get involved with the Foundation’s work this Christmas by coming to the game a little early on Sunday and shaking a collection bucket. As well as the Simon Community, the Foundation aim to help Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission, the Scottish Refugee Council, The Invisibles and Yorkhill Children’s Charity.
That’s an incredible amount of work to carry out in your name over the coming weeks. You can sign up to help with the bucket collection here. You’ll enjoy it.
The CQN Annual is coming off the presses this week. It’s a full colour Celtic extravaganza. Order yours HERE now in time for Christmas!

Singing with their brethren in the toilet ? Wasn’t too long ago that they were charging their horses into Celtic supporters on Janefield street.

Brilliant! :-)
See! Graffiti doesn’t need to be sexual, sectarian, racist snobbery…
With Ronny sticking to the one striker which seems to be the modern way. Think the days of four strikers on the books are a waist of time.
Gooooooooooooooooood night all
It can just be a satirical jibe at rowdy octopi
Davidopolous . Excellent.
It has been said that if those in the Media were critical of Rangers then and Sevco now, the fans of those teams would stop buying/listening. In that one area, I would suggest we emulate Them.

Can we cut the reference to xmas only takes a moment more to put Christ into Christmas
* I used to feel the same way until a Franciscan priest re-educated me…the following is taken from wiki:
“Xmas is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas . It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as Xtemass, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsməs/. The “-mas” part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass, while the “X” comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός which comes into English as “Christ”.
There is a common misconception that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the “Christ” out of “Christmas”, but its use dates back to the 16th century.”
*I’ve also been led to believe that it dates back to the catechumens as a means to protect themselves by not using the Christ word.
Big Cup- even worse than joining in with the singing, an off duty copper was one of those wrecking the place

Guys, i tried to scroll back quickly there, to see if there has been a mention. sorry if i missed it.
A good Celtic man and Irish Republican lost his life yesterday, in tragic circumstances.
Brendan Carey, leaves a wife and 3 sons.
Brendan stayed in Campsie Glen and was previously from Kirkintilloch. He recently organised a rebel night in a pub in Kirkintilloch, where the James Connolly FB played.
He will be missed
God bless

Four!
We’ve got about 44 in the first team squad, a total joke. Four strikers would be appropriate and plenty!
Oh to only have for strikers on the squad.
Seriously that size of squad can do nothing for competitiveness and hunger in the squad

Enjoyed your post mate.
Unfortunately there is a song that mocks those that died that terrible day and there are those in our support only to happy to sing it.
Sad to hear that but then again those that sing it probably weren’t around then.
I had a school friend whose future wife’s family were blue noses….her brother went up to the game and didn’t come back after it.
Her da went up to ibrox looking for him and went round all the bodies…much to his relief he wasn’t there.
Unfortunately for the family he had arranged with a mate to go out up the toon that night.
When he returned the next day with the family being beside themselves they were also relieved……….her da was never the same though after that after witnessing grown adults in tears after identifying their kin.
Only illiterates and the uncouthed sing about ibrox……munich….and heysel.
Charles, there was mention of charges but it all went quiet, not as newsworthy as a 14 year olds scribbling in a toilet cubicle at Tynecastle according to the Scottish media
Thugs n Thieves
this time
Night CSC
Bourne
The important thing about this and thieves was not only was it all made up pash, but it was all made up by a bunch of photographers and journos sent to Newcastle by the rag to harass and provoke the celtic squad on their night out!
Thugs and thieves, bloody swipe keyboard
Tontine Tim.
Thank you for your post regarding the disaster.I recall my cousins coming in as their mum was called out(as a nurse)to her work at the southern General.
In later life I became good acquainted with and trained beside the late Tommy Craig, rangers physio at the time.Tommy was behind the making of a half hour documentary on the disaster, and I recall him with tears in his eyes as he recounted how surreal it was as the bodies were laid out on the pitch.,people like you and me he would say, just goin to a game but they did not come home.it affected him deeply.
a terribly sad event.

I have been a season ticket holder since the Hampden year and have never heard a song about the Ibrox disaster.

There was a discussion on Radio 5, today 3-4pm, re the relative lack of fitness of today’s secondary school students. One of the facts that struck me, was that those that came last in the cross country races (remember em) twenty years ago would now be in the top five now in an equivalent run today.
Moral of the story, Bob Z was ahead of the game.

Sounds both familiar and typical
Three strikers ….leaving room for the progression of players from the youth team
Meant to add that day I walked round to Gilmour Street to get the bus from the Fountain Bar….Mrs. TT and the weans were standing at the bus stop and waved to me…….I came home that night 66 didnae.
Jock Stein makes his Celtic debut
8 December 1951
It was on this day in 1951, Jock Stein made his debut for Celtic in a 2-1 win against St Mirren. Signed from Welsh Side Llanelli, many thought Jock was going to help out the reserve side, however injuries and poor results gave Jock a chance to step into the team and improve results, a chance he relished. Jock played with authority and confidence who could read the game well and organise Celtic’s defence superbly.
During his time as a Celt, he made 148 appearances for the Hoops, scoring two goals. He won the league championship, the Scottish Cup and the Coronation Cup.
Injury forced Jock to retire from playing, but he went on to manage Dunfermline and Hibernian before returning to Celtic Park as manager in 1965 and the rest is history.
when is the last EL game?
