Just my opinion,for what it is worth, but I think big VVD is a luxury we can afford to do without at the moment, he’s not going to stay anyway. If someone comes in January with a bid of £8m upwards then take it. Use the money to buy 2 big, competent central defenders and shore up that defence. It may give us a chance of progressing in the EL, we will win the league anyway. We should be planning NOW for an assault on Europe next season and I would be prepared to put my house on big Virgil not being at CP after the summer transfer window and by that time it will be too late.
RD should looking at this scenario now, sort out the spine of the team.

The linesman wrongly flagged for offside at the Scepovic goal. He made a mistake. But what gets me is, if Celtic had won 2-1 and United had a goal wrongly flagged offside, we’d be reading and hearing about it for the next 4 days.
Made me laugh today when Leigh Griffiths was coming on, Gary McAllister said, “He’s a player who hopefully will get a goal for Celtic.”
I know what he meant to say, but can imagine what the denizens of FollowFollow thought of that one.

After watching another inept defensive display, I feel we badly need a tactical aware defender who can play behind a back 3 someone who can anticipate the play in front on him, cover from left, middle and right and not leave a fellow defender 1 on 1, the old fashioned sweeper .

Notice that media have Mancini linked with Guidetti (from Man City days), plus the likes of Aaron Lennon, Lucas, Adnan Januzaj and Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
I think they are a better team than Red Bull Salzburg, so we will have to buy well and cut out the defensive mistakes to compete over 2 legs.

What I can never understand in these situations, when Efe was clearly struggling with Cifcti, is why VVD didn’t match up with him? Time and again he ended up one on one with Efe. I’d punt VVD in January if the money was right, he might not be as big a miss as is thought.
Forrest loses his effectiveness when he comes inside and too many times DU were able to force him to do just that.
Guidetti? I have my doubts he is the penalty box poacher we need. £3m? Not sure I’d pay. Someone in the EU might but that’s chump change for them.
