  1. Afternoon all

Right first off the ruling for offside of the Scepovic ‘goal’ is just unacceptable. I have run the line at matches and offside is the easiest of a linesman’s tasks. Just keep your eye on the second last defender and the ball. It was not a long pass to SS which means there is no excuse for him. As I say unacceptable and it cost is a point. End of.

But our own shortcomings were exposed there. Our defence is woeful- Efe Ambrose makes too many mistakes. Adam Matthews is increasingly failing to convince. Izzy should have done better at the their second also though where the rest of the defence was I do not know.

We miss far too many chances. Stefan Johansen is a fine player but he does not score often enough for one who gets as far forward as often as he does.John Guidetti is a decent player but he is not as good as we thought he was six weeks ago.

This was a sore one but it may do us a bit of good as many are overrating the team and the manager’s achievements to date. I said this weeks ago but so far he has done nothing so far that any new , competent manager would not. Get your defence right Ronny.

Still shaking my head at that offside though, As bad as any I can remember.

Ronny should be going tonto about that disallowed goal in that interview ffs.

    Disappointing blah, blah.

    Show you are angry man..

weebobbycollins. I Cifiti is a better striker than Guidetti ? how many goals has Guidetti scored how many goals has Cifiti scored ? I rest my case. H.H.

Celtic mugged in Dundee by Utd ( and a large doze of the obligatory of mibbery )

Dundee Utd much closer to a Salzburg or Zagreb and Celtic, were well organised, but fortune favoured a side that have suffered from more famous beatings than Celtic, than most.

Celtic were the better side throughout but the RD system, was shown to be fragile when faced with better class of opposition, and before the high tempo pressing game kicked in, Celtic had conceded a fortuitous goal. and the scene was set for controversy, and nearlyness.

Gudettii was fouled in the box ( but we got a gift at Tynecastle ) so no chance there, controversy rather than Utd closed out the game, when Scepovic scored a perfectly good goal, but it was destined to be McNamara’s day after they had blown it against Aberdeen, the other of three good sides in Scotland.

Looking forward to the January window and Ronny Deila’s comments after the game are much more telling than anything you’ll read on the the internet, and he didn’t fall into the traps set for others. If we lose to a top three side, it’s best to be today.

    Hail Hail

bring on Ross County on the 27th.

I agree that for a neutral, it was an entertaining game between two teams who were pretty evenly matched … With some good goals, some howlers, and some controversies … Should have been 2-2

    The problems are

    1. we were matched by a team who cost what…. 1/20 th of our squad. That is a problem …

    2. The game, while even, was of very poor standard. Spanish, German and Italian junior teams pass and move better than the two top teams in Scotland.

  6. On any other day we would have won, started well despite going one down. Big Virgil needs a bit of passing practise. The whole team needs to learn how to attack a ball in the air, not sure we won a 50/50 all game. Even though we had a lot of possession esp. the first half DU had more desire

I agree with most LG has to start and get a regular run, big Stefan also. You go with who’s hot in the striking department and give them a run JG and Anton need to sit for a while

  7. Lack of composure in front of goal and shaky on the right side of defence; both our centre forwards don’t look like as though they relish a physical challenge in the air or when the ball is played into feet; so we tend to over-play.

Bad day at the office …..

Looking at that pic, it’s at least a yard and the linesman is bang on line….

    Dreadful decision.

  9. We should be rotating the three strikers.

A and B to start. C coming on after 60 minutes or so.

B and C with A coming on after an hour.

    Etc

Joe Filippis Haircut…just my opinion. Guidetti has been overpraised on here

(just my opinion) and I don’t think he is what we need, I’d prefer Cifci. He can do things on his own and with us he would be even better…but again, just my opinion.

  11. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

£3m still the suggested figure for Guidetti …hope not …..

How many goals has he scored that aren’t pens or free kicks

    He was rank today

  12. The linesman didn’t put his flag up until Scepovic’s shot had hit the net.

    Bitter Hun cnut..

Some people just don’t like Stokesy eh,

Best player on the park as long as he played

Every decent chance early on went through him,

when he move inside he looked our most dangerous player.

    Easily earned MotM

  14. That offside decision wasn’t even close, Scepovic was behind the ball when Izzy played it therefore impossible to be offside, this was not a case of defenders rushing out and forwards rushing in on goal and a split second decision had to be made, the linesman had all the time in the world.

Of course it’s not the first time we have been subject to cheating at this ground, The ghost of Dougie Dougie lives on.

  16. I’d spend £3 mill on Cifti before Guidetti.

guidetti unproven. Cifti solid, consistent. With Griffith and Scepovic around him…

Looking at that pic, it’s at least a yard and the linesman is bang on line….

    Dreadful decision.

Absolutely sums up how bad that decision was – not even marginal

  18. Lots of head scratching going on,

who is coaching our defenders? to defend correctly.

What does our manager see in Matthews , Efe, Forrest, Guidetti etc.

If we can see the problems why can’t they.

  19. If Ronny Deila had ranted and raved about the Scepovic offside decision, there would be several posts saying “Never mind about that! You should be talking about the failings of the Celtic forward line!”

I think the Press and Broadcasters are missing a trick. They should be seeking post-match reactions from the fans and not the players & managers.

A manager and player will never say what you want to say about a match, just as they will never pick the players and subs you think they should.

Plus the fans interviews would be more entertaining.

  20. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    SANDMAN

He could only be judged offside when he touched the ball.

Which is handy as it gives him time to figure if he can get away with it.

  21. My BT Sports wasn’t working for some reason but my mate phoned me there to say that he enjoyed the game. He reckons we were cheated by the ref. Denied a stonewaller and a perfectly good goal. He says our manager was raging because we missed too many chances and gave away the goals.

I hate to get beat but it makes me sick when we are beaten by the MIBs. It has happened far far too often in my lifetime of following the Celtic.

  22. mike in toronto on

We tend to praise strikers like fifties or griffiths who poach or play a loner style … Players like jg are prolific in a Team… But celtic are still not a great TEAM yet. When we start to play like a team, a player like JG will show his strengths. Not sure that is the same for cifti (who I like). I just think there is much more upside with. jG. We have to play better/more as a team to get the most out of him

  23. Is there a prevailing feeling that after the Hearts game, a defender can foul Guidetti in the box and not risk a penalty award?

There have been a few fouls on him recently which have drawn indifference from the ref, but have not drawn a card or even a warning for “simulation.”

  24. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

    SFTB

No need for him to rant and rave

A simple comment expressing his disappointment at such a poor decision would have sufficed …he ignored it ….

  25. Tri,

There’s too much asked of our fullbacks, they can’t be at one end of the park and when a ball is punted into their space be expected to be there.

  26. FourGreenFields on

We will keep on getting those types of decisions against us until we do something about it , sitting back not wanting to upset anyone gets you nowhere.

The manager should be making a point about this every time it happens , if nothing else it makes our concerns public instead of doing nothing.

  27. Ambrose excelled alongside Van Dijk in Lennon’s 4-3-1-2, but we need at least one no-nonsense CB in 4-2-3-1.

Personally, I’d ditch 4-2-3-1 before I ditched Ambrose, but Ronny is not a pragmatist like Lennon.
