If a player makes a mistake in front of goal, it can and does cost him money.
Winning bonus may be lost, he can be dropped.
If a referee has a poor game he picks up his game fee, regardless.
So let’s have a radical plan
Fine referees or linemen 100 pounds for each game changing decision they get wrong.
I reckon the standard and even handed ness would improve
Having supported Celtic for over 50 years I am still surprised that our fans get angry regards bad refereeing decisions. Is it not accepted by the silence of our board regards this, that they accept on the BALANCE OF PROBABILITY most decisions will go against Celtic and they are prepared to accept the same?
Judging by certain statements made recently, I think our board cannot wait to consummate the arrival of Sevco into the SPL.
Oh and least I forget, as a football team we are poor.
Good to remind, especially our younger supporters, that even the great weren’t too hot every match. I didn’t see the game but I suspect too that your comment about their defence doubling up on James Forrest would be very effective in such a tight wee park.
By the bye, anybody criticising Johansen needs their head looked, imo. He gives us so much energy.

Neil canamalar/’GG, I agree. So our best attacker was Izzie and our worst defender was Forrest. That just about sums it up!
Auldheid, a good point about “the one angle”. It was an excellent finish from a quality player. But if we are going to attach any blame to Efe for the second goal, due to his uncomposed swipe at the ball to concede the corner, then whoever played the wayward pass in midfield has to be held acocuntable for the concession of the first DU goal.
Philbhoy, and I wonder why we seem to have reverted to playing so many hopeful crosses in from wide areas, with such a poor return from this particular tactic. If we don’t have the personnel to convert high crosses into goals, then why persist with just wasting all our build-up play in this way?
We have played some delightful stuff this season by pinging quick little 1-2s inside the opposition box, and we have several players more than capable of playing quick, intricate stuff on the deck through the heart of the opposition defence. Why do we not do this more often? And there is also the chance that if we don’t get a shot away then we will draw a foul… the MIB can only refuse to award us a blatant penalty a couple of times before he HAS to give one!

CELTIC’S REPORT ON REFEREE
“A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE”
The directors of Celtic Football Club yesterday issued to the press copies of the letter of complaint which they lodged with the Scottish Football Association regarding the manner in which J. Thomson, Burnbank, the referee, handled the game in the final of the Glasgow Cup competition between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park on Saturday, October 11.
After making a specific charge against a Rangers’ player, the letter continues:- This offence of itself called for the extreme penalty against the offender. Taken in conjunction with several subsequent tackles by this same offender, it can only be described as a travesty of justice that the player should have been allowed to remain on the field and R. Thomson be ordered off.
After making reference to the goal that was disallowed the letter goes on: –
The whole game from the first incident was marred by frequent fouls, from which undoubtedly our players were the chief sufferers. The repeated injuries to our outside-left, the repeated fouls against our outside-right, the methods adopted towards our goalkeeper, most of which were penalised by free kicks without proper action being taken against the offenders, resulted in the match being a most unsatisfactory one from every point of view.
It is our considered opinion that if incidents such as these are to occur with increasing regularity, as seems to be the case in matches where certain teams are involved, the game in this country will be seriously harmed and made almost impossible for our club.
We think it must be placed on record that our complaint is only one of several made in somewhat similar circumstances within a recent date comparatively.
N.B. This complaint was made after Celtic had won the Glasgow Cup beating Rangers 2-1 in the final.

JFH…. I think JG is a player. Agree he has been a bit off form for a few games, but, as I said earlier, he cant do his job unless others are doing theres. And they aren’t. We should still seek to sign him, and I’m afraid dropping him – while letting other favourites get a free ride – would make that difficult.
One thing …. I find I dont hurt as much when we lose, as I know the league is a foregone conclusion….. if I find it hard to stay motivated, surely the players must also struggle to get up for games when you know that they really wont effect the league destination.

Not that I’m suggesting it will make any difference to the outcome, but it is simply what I expect to happen.
