Fog of stress begins to lift from Lennon

980

A line has hopefully been drawn under the stress Neil Lennon has lived under during the last two years with the conviction of two men found guilty of sending bombs in the post.  In a statement, Neil said: This has been a very stressful and difficult time for myself and my family and clearly I am glad that it is over”, before adding, “I will forever be thankful to the Police for the way in which they have handled this matter.”

Celtic chief executive, Peter Lawwell, added: “No one could imagine the pressure [Neil Lennon] has been under during the past two years.  He has coped with this particular episode, last year’s assault and the, at times, seemingly unrelenting attacks from many quarters.

“In my opinion, no-one in Scottish footballing history has had to contend with this level of pressure whilst trying to do their job.  Neil Lennon is someone who has shown tremendous character and resilience, and we will continue to support Neil in any way we can.”

This month has been made all the more difficult for Neil Lennon by the sudden death of Paul McBride, also a target of the bombing campaign.  Neil Lennon said, “Finally, I would like to mention my good friend Paul McBride.   His sad passing remains very raw to those close to him, we continue to miss him dearly and my thoughts remain very much with Paul’s family.”

The SFA have written to Neil Lennon three times since the start of the trial earlier this month to capitalise on perceived transgressions by the Celtic manager while yesterday a former referee used his newspaper column to undermine Neil’s position at Celtic.

These people really do need to get a grip.

Within minutes of the verdict being announced yesterday news of Stilian Petrov’s serious illness was made public.  Stilian will received the very best medical attention and all our prayers.

Sixteen roads to Golgotha – Neil Lennon increasingly reminds me of a young Jock Stein.

He still has much to learn, but there’s a kind of magic about the man which promises much for the future. (thumbsup)

‘GG – My God, was that 14 years ago?

We often think of Henrik Larsson, but how often do we remember Harald Brattbakk?

Other Celts in that game that have perhaps been under appreciated in the years since:

    Marc Rieper

    Enrico Annoni

    Regi Blinker

All we ever did,as a club…was to try to play football, and play football the way it should be played.

Heaven knows that have we failed so many times along the way,but we always tried our best, and tried to keep it pure.

The Celtic way. From Stein to Hay.

Tommy Burns,in my lifetime supporting Celtic, had his teams playing the most attractive brand of football that I have ever witnessed,it didn’t lead to much success…but so what? We demanded to be entertained, and that’s what we got.

The Centenary side, under McNeill, the O’Neill years.Venglos gave us Lubo, and Wim gave us Henke.Even Brady and Macari,in the most difficult of times, attempted to attack and be Cavalier in their approach.

John Barnes and King Kenny? A disaster – but the ethos remained the same – go and play football, let the players express themselves, show their skill on the park. When I was a kid,I remember watching a John Barnes team demolish Aberdeen, away – and it blew my mind – total football it was, incredible.Sadly it didn’t work out for them in the end,but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.

Mogga? Madness. All out attack.Like a degenerate gambler he was – Watched him play football matches with 5,maybe 6 forward players, all out attack – like Ossie Ardiles had his Spurs team play.Once again,it didn’t work out for us…but sure?

Now we have Lenny, and I am delighted with him thus far.Warrior turned leader,a few blips, but some great times already. And it looks like there is going to be a lot more celebrations to come, both domestically and on the European front

Did somebody mention an essay? Apologies for going on a wee bit.

I hope you all have a brilliant day the mara.

Be seen in green – WE ARE THE CELTS!!

    Slan. :)

SydneyTim – Regi Blinker helped stop the huns from winning 10 in a row.

Remember Walter Smith and the billboards saying “9/10 Must Do Better”?

Remember Richard Gough and his referee’s whistle?

Regi helped put a stop to that nonsense, and he did it without an EBT. (thumbsup)

I sense some impatience that we have failed to ” wrap up ” the S.P.L.,accompanied by frenzied hun excitement over their meaningless and super hyped wins gained with the assistance of complaisant, look the other way, shake the right way, sycophantic referees.

    Lads,please.

    Let`s do them slow.

Enjoy their gradual realisation that their ba`s up on the slates and brother daddy can`t climb up that high.

Not a very kind sentiment,I know, but normal and natural and , after a century or so,

    eminently justifiable.

Let`s take our time,Tims. Time is on our side.

That lie lifeless and unfulfilled beneath the soil

I see an old man fingering his perishing flesh

He tells himself he was a good man and did good things

Amused and confused by life’s little ironies

He swallows his bottle of distilled damnation

  14. The BIG picture for us-Celtic fans….must be…getting out of the secterian-pit….called Scottish Football! IMO!

I don’t know where we go but, since Sammy Nelson’s Testimonial game @ Ipswich in 1980-81, the English football supporters seen, with their own eyes that, Celtic FC was a, club crying-out to be…taken away from, an, axis of evil more famously known as, Glasgow Rangers FC/SFA!

Please DD… get us OUT of here!!!

Kev if we were to listen to the huns there would be millions of us heading to Killarney Cork Dingle Dublin since there seems to be a plethora of food these days. I must admit the food I tried in the restuarants of Tralee in 2010 was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve been in a few places! There was a pork steak wrapped in bacon with garlic kale and yams the likes I have never tasted. Where do the Irish guys dig up those chefs?? Phenomenal..anyway how about I buy you some guinness before the Scottish cup final..assuming all goes according to plan against the mini huns?

Kev I posted this last night here on CQN. Not sure if you agree but I think hun liquidation is on the cards. If it does not happen it will only be because of govt or middle east greediness intervention.

    ————————————————————————-

After the other 10 SPL traitors opted to not include Celtic in discussions on how to split up Celtic fans money I was wondering what would the bored do about Newco since its obvious the sorority of 10 are keen to do

    business with a weak Newco?

Then I realised that Newco implies Liquidation. Liquidation implies HMRC won the tax case. HMRC winning the tax case implies that EPL doors are going to be knocked on south of the border which means chaos for the EPL. Maybe the Donut is waiting for this scenario and the Celtic cash cow now being “invited” to the greedy down there. Who knows? Just thinking “allowed”.

  17. I don’t like racism at all. I have lived in Australia just short of fifteen years, I have worked in most major cities and most states. I have literally worked with thousands of Australians from all ethnic backgrounds. In my fifteen years I have witnessed two acts that were racist and nasty against the Asian demographic; neither involved violence. (These acts amounted to racial abuse by three white Australians) I lived in Asian countries for five years, I witnessed dozens upon dozens of racist acts by Asians against whites and quite a few did involve violence.

Sometimes what you experience is ‘realer’ than what you read.

I don’t know if, you know of this game or, indeed if you where @ it….

    Celtic 6-0 Hearts April 1st 1981 ? I think ?

Anyway….The Jungle that night, after ever goal would burst into this chorus of…”April Fools, April fools, April fools….”

    You get the drift.

If I ever would want to be …..HAD…then….

I would luv to be had by u!

I agree the worst racism I have ever understood deeply is from Chinese born in China, Koreans born in Korea and Japanese. Having lived in the far East I know. Apollo 11 is always a good starter for 10. Ask them! See what they say? However I was prepared. I once met a hun who couldn’t believe it was an Irish guy that came up w/the square root of minus one.

  21. April fools day 2012 has instructed a solicitor to take legal action agains Jan the 1st 2012 through Mar 31st 2012 apparent hijacking of April the 1st 2012 purpose and role in the British callander year. April 1st 2012 was quoted as saying “Every day this year has seen stories on TV, Radio, Printed media and new media regarding Rangers FC that are so fanciful and sureal that it believes every other Callander day is attempting to make my role in the callander year redundant”. April the 1st 2012 went on to say “I am particularly angry at the 14th of February 2012 and that day to be the ring leader”.

April the 1st 2012 finished with a hard hitting message for pretenders to it’s date – “I Dont Do Clocking Away”.

  22. twists n turns:

    twists n turns:

I played and ran the football team at the university I attended in Los Angeles. I picked the team, in the squad we had about twelve or so different nationalities. We had two African Americans. Only one made the team, a hard as small guy who made the left back slot his own. He was not the most gifted but he was one of the most committed player’s I’ve ever played with.

The intimidation I was subjected to, to have him removed from the team, by external up-themselves, fraternities was something to live to believe. I had African American mates everywhere I went. They didn’t have much in common with me but they made sure the intimidation never morphed from words to violence.

The worst racism I have encountered was by the xenophobic Chinese against whites and by whites against whites who did not share their prejudices. (both in America and Scotland)

That black left back, he played every game that I was in charge and he twice got our PPOTY.

If Murray & Co, get their way and liquidate the club, buy up the assets and simply start up again as newco rangers, it’s like them going off to the crapper, taking a dump, flushing away all the debt and keeping the sh*t.

If, as seems certain, they are put through the blender soon, I hope HMRC ensure that any would-be buyer pays the full price of the debt owing.

My fear about them going through the blender though is that Sweet FA and SPL will simply say, “Oh well, that’s the end of rangers. Nothing left to investigate.” and close the case.

No matter what happens, the full extent of their rampant corruption must be fully investigated and exposed for all the world to see.

We all know that any newco will start up again doing the same old stuff the oldco did (behind locked ludge doors).

I hope Alex Thomson is full prepared for a long investigation. Getting to the bottom of the govan abyss might be a long journey indeed.
