Fog of stress begins to lift from Lennon

980

A line has hopefully been drawn under the stress Neil Lennon has lived under during the last two years with the conviction of two men found guilty of sending bombs in the post.  In a statement, Neil said: This has been a very stressful and difficult time for myself and my family and clearly I am glad that it is over”, before adding, “I will forever be thankful to the Police for the way in which they have handled this matter.”

Celtic chief executive, Peter Lawwell, added: “No one could imagine the pressure [Neil Lennon] has been under during the past two years.  He has coped with this particular episode, last year’s assault and the, at times, seemingly unrelenting attacks from many quarters.

“In my opinion, no-one in Scottish footballing history has had to contend with this level of pressure whilst trying to do their job.  Neil Lennon is someone who has shown tremendous character and resilience, and we will continue to support Neil in any way we can.”

This month has been made all the more difficult for Neil Lennon by the sudden death of Paul McBride, also a target of the bombing campaign.  Neil Lennon said, “Finally, I would like to mention my good friend Paul McBride.   His sad passing remains very raw to those close to him, we continue to miss him dearly and my thoughts remain very much with Paul’s family.”

The SFA have written to Neil Lennon three times since the start of the trial earlier this month to capitalise on perceived transgressions by the Celtic manager while yesterday a former referee used his newspaper column to undermine Neil’s position at Celtic.

These people really do need to get a grip.

Within minutes of the verdict being announced yesterday news of Stilian Petrov’s serious illness was made public.  Stilian will received the very best medical attention and all our prayers.

Books sometimes become films, either factual or fictional.

    Who would believe this?

Would be delighted to see it go wider and deeper. Agree with a point you made earlier that this goes beyond the Rio Tweed and into not only England but Europe to.

It would be interesting to see if the same lack of questioning has been evident in other countries msm as it has been here.

It would be a book l would buy…or would l have to download it given we are internet bampots?

  4. macjay1,

The fabric of Salmond’s society is woven with the same thread as the Mason’s apron.

Too many people discount or underestimate it’s influence.

Neil Lennon is ainm dom – I like Jason Roberts and would be pleased to see him at Celtic, but he’s 34 so doesn’t fit the profile we’ve established of signing young, hungry players with resale value, and as a player who has been in the English Premiership for the past few years his wage expectations probably wouldn’t fit into our pay structure. (thumbsup)

Jude.Daly has no pace and had 2 cruciate injuries, decent player but we can do better. Not sure off top of my head who we could go after, scouting has been good last 18 months, hope we can get a physical striker in to give us alternatives.

We need to come out the traps better,

Never been to a Church service before, therefore:

Should I conduct myself as in going to Chapel…

My lassies say that I should not bless myself entering or exiting….

    (Serious question)

One of the unseen bonuses of the story going up to this level is that those who were quick to be seen to have a word on Rangers’ behalf will be a lot less inclined to jump on that bandwagon as it derails, which in turn makes it more likely to do just that. Political expediency, top of any politicos list

    See you tomorrow pal.

Will we have to listen to your NY stories ?

Were you hanging out with Mick and the bhoys.

Cheers for posting that, I was wondering why the charges for dropped, however having read that I think the defense offering lent heavily on the premise that those being charged were intelligent individuals, it seemed to exclude the notion that really stupid people can attempt to kill and sometimes really thick people actually do kill.

If you do bless yourself don’t do it in an agressive manner.

All kidding aside just keep your hands in your pocket bud.

Green Oak Tree – Serious answer:

Catholic churches are churches, not “chapels”. The latter is a diminutive term applied to them by Scottish Protestants in their belief that a Catholic church is somehow less than a real church.

Church of Scotland churches don’t have holy water and don’t have a tabernacle containing the Body of Christ, so there is no need or expectation to bless yourself or genuflect. (thumbsup)

good point, our first minister has seen to have gone quiet of late.

To capture the people’s interest in England it has to be seen to be relevant to EPL clubs. That is why l liked to closing comments on C4 news.

Green Oak Tree – You’re welcome. I’ve been to a few Church of Scotland services in my time, mainly for weddings or funerals of friends, there’s a simplicity to their style of worship that is appealing, but don’t let the minister catch you out with a second collection. ;) (thumbsup)

fanadpatriot – No intrusion at all, my friend in Celtic.

As I said, I do like Jason Roberts. He strikes me as an unfussy, level-headed, honest, sort of player, and I agree with you, he’d score a bunch of goals for us. He’s the sort of player I think Gordon Strachan would have wanted to sign for us. (thumbsup)
