Fog of stress begins to lift from Lennon

980

A line has hopefully been drawn under the stress Neil Lennon has lived under during the last two years with the conviction of two men found guilty of sending bombs in the post.  In a statement, Neil said: This has been a very stressful and difficult time for myself and my family and clearly I am glad that it is over”, before adding, “I will forever be thankful to the Police for the way in which they have handled this matter.”

Celtic chief executive, Peter Lawwell, added: “No one could imagine the pressure [Neil Lennon] has been under during the past two years.  He has coped with this particular episode, last year’s assault and the, at times, seemingly unrelenting attacks from many quarters.

“In my opinion, no-one in Scottish footballing history has had to contend with this level of pressure whilst trying to do their job.  Neil Lennon is someone who has shown tremendous character and resilience, and we will continue to support Neil in any way we can.”

This month has been made all the more difficult for Neil Lennon by the sudden death of Paul McBride, also a target of the bombing campaign.  Neil Lennon said, “Finally, I would like to mention my good friend Paul McBride.   His sad passing remains very raw to those close to him, we continue to miss him dearly and my thoughts remain very much with Paul’s family.”

The SFA have written to Neil Lennon three times since the start of the trial earlier this month to capitalise on perceived transgressions by the Celtic manager while yesterday a former referee used his newspaper column to undermine Neil’s position at Celtic.

These people really do need to get a grip.

Within minutes of the verdict being announced yesterday news of Stilian Petrov’s serious illness was made public.  Stilian will received the very best medical attention and all our prayers.

when Obama was elected I couldn’t believe the reaction from some (supposedly educated and respected) senior personnel within the company I was working with. They were akin to huns who had just seen a Catholic appointed as Scotland’s first minister. The use of the ‘N’ word is still prevalent all over the mid West.

I took a trip to the Ozarks region in my free time,.which covers Missouri/Arkansas and I a part of Kansas and was quite astonished at the readiness of locals to openly quiz me as to the influence and numbers of aforementioned “N” classes in UK. For some reason, they also had a very deep rooted mistrust of the French!

Looking forward to today going to the match with my Nephew, he is a very excited 8 & 3/4 old boy, i see us winning narrowly today with the home crowd giving us the edge, St Johnstone are not to be dismissed or taken lightly as we already have seen at paradise this season.

mate I’m not too sure when I am next home but whenever it is I’ll make sure it is over a couple of home games and if you fancy it I’ll meet you for a few beers and share a couple of stories.

I owe Mort a few beers too so I’d need to invite him along too. I just know he has stories to tell.

It is a well established known fact to many in public life regarding threats to your life from the dark hordes which support that club, Robbie Coltrane recently revealed he had threats surrounding the Mason Boyne satire, even Rankers supporter Ian Pattison got it in the neck over the hun line in a Rab c nesbitt episode, i believe Stuart Regan came face to face with the dark side during a meeting recently.

  8. Cheers Kitalba I,d appreciate if you could let them know of my request.Hail Hail Hebcelt

  9. Good morning friends from a sun-kissed clear skied but chilly East Kilbride. Really excited about the thought of a full house singing for 90 minutes today and showing the TV audience the true meaning of the word supporter.

Let’s get back to winning ways and end the day 18 points ahead with 6 games to go.

    it would be a pleasure.

My grandson Danny is going to his first game today. He is so excited. He can’t relate to the size of the ground. The only football he has seen so far is his dad playing in the amateur league in front of 20 folks! I went up to Scotland last week and kitted him out in the full strip scarf etc. I wish I was going with him.

I remember the excitement of going to paradise as a kid. My parents didn’t have a lot, but as my uncles ran the local supporters club bus, I was privileged to get taken from a young age. Many of my friends whose parents were relatively well off used to get to Spain for 2 weeks a year and I remember thinking when they were heading off to the airport how good it must be for them to go on an aeroplane, and have 2 weeks in the sun.

As we grew up, they later told me how jealous they were seeing me standing at the pub with my scarf waiting on the Celtic bus, and watching in envy as the bus pulled away with me on it.

On reflection, they were well off twice a year. Me? I was a millionairre once a fortnight:-)

I betcha Danny will have his strip on already!

Morning all from a sunny La Suisse. Starry, Swiss T – I hope you are both well.

I see the Scottish MSM are still acting as the PR wing for RFC(IA-BSTBL) this morning. Most articles I’ve seen seem to be gentle explanations for the thick on what liquidation means, (note, FF, you are to be ‘liquidated’ – not ‘liquidized’.)

Some Sunday morning reading for those who wish. Grey’s elegy written in a country church yard:

The curfew tolls the knell of parting day,

The lowing herd winds slowly o’er the lea,

The Gers fan homeward plods his weary way,

And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

Now fades the glimmering landscape on the sight,

And all the air a solemn stillness holds,

Save where the beetle wheels his droning flight,

And drowsy tinklings lull the distant folds:

Save that from yonder ivy-mantled Ibrox tower

The moping owl does to the moon complain

Of such as, wandering near her secret bower,

    Molest her ancient solitary reign.

The curfew tolls the knell of parting day,

The lowing herd winds slowly o’er the lea,

The ploughman homeward plods his weary way,

And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

Now fades the glimmering landscape on the sight,

And all the air a solemn stillness holds,

Save where the beetle wheels his droning flight,

And drowsy tinklings lull the distant folds:

For ‘thems’ no more the blazing hearth shall burn,

Or battered housewife ply her evening care:

No children run to lisp their sire’s return,

Or climb his knees the envied kiss to share.

The boast of heraldry, the pomp of power,

And all that beauty, all that wealth e’er gave,

    Awaits alike th’ inevitable hour:-

The paths of glory lead but to the grave.

Nor you, ye Prod, impute to these the fault

If Memory o’er their tomb no trophies raise,

Where through the long-drawn aisle and fretted vault

The pealing anthem swells the note of praise.

Can storied urn or animated bust

Back to its Big Hoose call the fleeting breath?

Can Honour’s voice provoke the silent dust,

Or Flattery soothe the dull cold ear of Death?

Some village-Hampden, that with dauntless breast

The little tyrant of his fields withstood,

Some mute inglorious Milton here may rest,

Some Cromwell, guiltless of his country’s blood.

Th’ applause of list’ning senates to command,

The threats of pain and ruin to despise,

To scatter plenty o’er a smiling land,

And bury their history in a nation’s eyes,

  12. hebcelt

No bother, 001 Bhoy will be on once he has his tea, and as for your girl, don’t fret, she’ll be right.

  13. Looks like end-game approaching for the Huns. Admins now openly talking about liquidation.

And I see the StJohnstone chairman is preparing to vote Newco immediate SPL entry. Sadly I think this will be the approach taken by all the clubs with the exception of us, and possibly Dundee Utd and Hibs. I imagine the pro-Hun mentality will win the day.

However, as I understand it, a new club must have three years of accounts to be considered for membership of the SFA? And if you aren’t a member of the SFA then you cannot be a member of the SPL.

So how is this obstacle neutered?

Also, with all the talk of CVAs and liquidation, I have yet to read condemnation of what amounts to a determined bid to stiff creditors – including the taxpayer…

  14. From the Scotsman: Desperate denial of reality from Sally.

The attraction of a new company (newco) is obvious. It is the means by which the assets are obtained without any of the previous liabilities. But in football “cleaning up the balance sheet” in such a ruthless fashion can carry a cost that cannot be measured in pounds and pence. Essentially, if Rangers were liquidated and started again, many would contend that their past, as well as their debts, would be scrubbed. McCoist, not surprisingly, would beg to differ.

“As far as I’m concerned, the club will never die,” he said. “Even if we came back as a newco club, it will never die. We’d get a bit of stick and there would be a few arguments. I hope it doesn’t happen but, if it does, I wouldn’t see it as anything other than the old club. I don’t go along with the idea that 140 years of history would be wiped out.

“Of course, there is concern, but I’ve got to be positive. Last weekend’s derby win was a big help because it gave everyone at the club a real boost. But the most important thing is where Rangers go from here and where the new owner will take us. I’m still hopeful that we’ll have a new owner to take us forward in the not too distant future. But as positive as I am, I’m also cautious. We are by no means out of the woods yet and liquidation is still lurking away in the background. There is no doubt about that.”

  15. It seems like liquidation is the only game in town for the Govan amateurs after scanning this mornings broadsheets. When the extremely sympathetic to the cause sycophants in the Scottish ‘media’ are talking like this then we know the outcome.

I know it’s April 1st but shouldn’t stautes be erected at all Scottish grounds in honour of Alastair the Great who single-handedly has kept their club going during these dark times. The fawning praise from Craigan on Espn yesterday was embarrassing, Although he should enjoy punditry in division 3 soon after securing a lifetime media contract by saying the ‘right things’.

Absolutely brilliant post, took me back to the early 80s when I was one of only two boys in my class who had seen Provan, McGarvey and Nicholas in the flesh.

Hope ur grandson has a great day. The highlight of this season for me was taking my 5 year old niece to the Legends game in August (the one where the money actually went to charity) and seeing the look of amazement on her face as she got her first look at the inside of Celtic Park. She still talks about doing the huddle!

Looking forward to the game today, although it’s unlikely to be a thing of beauty. St Johnstone are a solid outfit away from home, and a moment of magic will be required to unlock their defence.

Kris Commons, if selected, will revisit the scene of his worst 60 minutes in the hoops last year, when his early penalty served as the springboard for an almighty belly-flop of a performance. However, the onus will be very much on players of his ilk to produce something, so Paddy on the bench would be a heartening sight.

The only time that, I have seen Hundom, get its true deserts was….

in the, 1980 SCF when, after watching their team lose to a, George McLuskey goal in, xtra-time…the battle de royale took place on the Hampden pitch.

The huns fans, who it had too be said where….un-defeated, all over europe until, May 1980 SCF @Hampden Park.

The Celtic fans, having watched the, autograph hunting section of their support being…bush-wacked/bottle-rained/knife-wielding thugs attacked…..

then, it was down to the, JUNGLE section of, CP.

The, huns support were, attacking the Celtic end of Hampden like the, end of the world was nigh!

It was THEE biggest mistake that the, Rangers support would, EVER make!

Before the huns new it….thousands, upon, thousands of the, Celtic contingent that day would, be on the pitch, lending support to the, Celtic fans already on the pitch!!

Make no mistake….the Celtic fans, let it be known that day that, WE, as a support….might, come across as…well-meaning/charitable/tolerable/friendly etc….but, make no mistake….Celtic supporters will be bullied by No-One!!!

    Hail Hail

Leaving the above aside. Should it go liquidation and a newco, and, as some are naively suggesting, Celtic and a couple of others vote against immediate newco entry to the SPL. Does this not mean that under the present undemocratic SPL voting system, entry to the SPL for newco would be automatically vetoed.

My own view on this one, and I may be proved wrong, is that Celtic will, via abstention, sit on the fence.

I hope a full stadium take the opportunity to let the MSM that we are all Neil Lennon.

Talking about the press isn’t it funny how they try to condition the masses’ acceptance of certain words in the most anodyne way?

Administration and now Liquidation are being portrayed as if they were perfectly normal practices that should attract no adverse comment. That is just the way businesses are run today we are being told.

The robbing of the tax-man and other creditors is a jolly wheeze that hurts no –one, and if SDM trousered millions and helped burst the bank in the process; ah well these things happen let’s just start again as if nothing has happened.

We have a fight ahead of us to make sure that Rangers don’t get away with this.
