For the love of the game. And endurance of Ally McCoist

1247

Close to 100 people agreed to participate in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary panel, as Neil Lennon put it yesterday, “for the love of the game”.  Processes were established and although panel members would meet and be introduced to club officials who were subject to their decisions, they were granted freedom from publicity in order for them to hand out punishments free of intimidation.

This freedom has now gone.

Such was the reaction to Ally McCoist’s public demand to know the names of the panel members who judged the actions of his club the SFA felt it prudent to select panellists who were happy to expose themselves and their places of employment to the outcry the original panellists endured.  IF they uphold of increase the penalties.

On Wednesday evening we should find out whether intimidation of the SFA works.

The biggest scandal of all is that despite the consequences of McCoist’s actions, the SFA have taken no disciplinary action against him.  Rangers officials are free to react to the appeal judgement in the same manner as the original without fear of consequence.

Other managers who are pursued for more prosaic matters might consider the SFA panel have something personal against them.

    There’s this for a start:

In his 1999 autobiography Ferguson stated of Gordon Strachan “I decided this man could not be trusted an inch – I would not want to expose my back to him in a hurry”. Strachan’s reaction to the attack, in is own autobiography, My Life in Football, was one of being “surprised and disappointed”, but did not sue for libel, and more recently they have “declared something of a truce”.

And then there is his unstinting support for RFCIA and all it represents.

But,hey, that is all just my opinion, and I’m not getting into a debate with you about anything.

  6. What no-one was prepared to say on shortbread was that the directors of RFCia have a responsbility to the club and if I am not very much mistaken, there are guidelines for directors of all PLCs which they MUST follow (follow). Where you know there are breaches taking place, it is your responsibility to report it. Announcing that you are unhappy and walking away is not enough. You are duty bound to report it and NOT to the RFCia friendly, succulent lamb press. You are duty bound to report it to the appropriate authorities.

Of course, it might well be that you didn’t want the appropriate authorities looking too closely because they might just see all the other dodgy stuff going on. A touch of self preservation there perhaps….

    don`t doubt you

however i have witnessed jumping up and down celebrating exhuberently as the Huns scored against us

was doing a fairly good impression of a Hun then

also his fairly regular fond comments re the Huns

as for uberhun …maybe a touch too much

  8. need to ask a question and hope someone can help me out, I feel like I will not like the answer. I have been trying to predict the end game and thought this would be possible.

    1- Green walks away , Mon/Tue

2- Gobshite Souness Impersonator rushes to save the day . Tue/Wed

3- No time for CVA , so NEWCO is formed – Friday

4- Newco is voted into SPL , all SFA and SPL penalties apply only to that bad Mr Whyte and Murray (D) versions of Hun FC. 30th May

5- All creditors are stuffed ( always)

6- Newco rents Ipox and MP from whatever one of Whytes companies owns it. June 1st

7- New Hun FC , carries on as before, minus Euro football for one season.

8- Jim Whyte marries Brian Kennedy live on SSN , July 12.

    is tt possible?

  9. Criticising John Greig for failing to understand and carry out his fiduciary duties as a company director is like criticising a monkey for being unable to recite Shakespeare.

Been working and was listening to Pick of the Pops on way home rather than the guff on Snyde and Shirtbread. So has anything happened today? Or is it the usual Braindead rubbish from Dud and Duffer ?

I’d like to suggest another distinguished name for the Newco Tax Dodgers XI. ‘Adult’ entertainer Janine Lindemulder did time in 2008 for tax evasion. Don’t ask me how I know of such a person

  13. jmccormick

Not a chance. For a start, if it’s newco, it’s no European football for three years automatically, and you’ve not mentioned anything about the creditors, some of whom are European football clubs – UEFA might get involved further. Green is a nobody and won’t be involved. Kennedy and Murray’s only involvement is to make them look good when they lauch a bid, in months to come for the carcass of the club, so no chance they’ll get involved anytime soon. It’s liquidation mate, and in 20 days time max.

I have not asked you to get into a debate.

My question was a simple one.

What has Fergie ever done that discriminated against ANYBODY on the grounds of their religion ?

You have not given that any kind of answer.

His spat with Wee Gordon was not based on anything other than perceived disloyalty.

That happens to every manager at every club.

Any love that he had for Rangers as a youngster was left behind him many years ago when Rangers, in particular Willie Allison, publicly humiliated him over his choice of a life partner. As history has proven, they only did him a favour.

That’s all I have to say on the subject.

    Good luck.

I’m not saying you should read the Daily Record today but if you did you would see that the DR pull no punches re: SDM’s “I was duped…” speech.

The DR left no-one in any doubt that the legally written record (i.e. as a basis in law) would record that the “I was duped…” would be seen as the lies of a fantasist to rival any his would be successor made.

Seeing the front page of the DR I decided to buy my first copy in about 3 years and the detail they go into the SFA report is actually, almost commendable.

  16. If Ferguson was such a hun, why did he refuse the rangers job? (as did Jim Mclean)

It was widely reported at the time that both refused after being told “the signing policy” wouldn’t be changing.

You know as well as me that we are all locked into one tribe or the other if we were raised in this neck of the woods.

Fergie was a Rangers man as a boy & no doubt he would still like to see them win rather than us.

It is how he deals with people through his life which dictate whether or not he should be branded an UBERHUN.

I would have to find him NOT GUILTY.

  18. pggtips2,

I’ve not long seen the articles online. Hopefully they will help to get the real message out there – Murray is up to this in his neck.

And once the big tax case comes back, I’m sure there will be even more evidence of his role in their demise.

  20. iv been engrossed, a little obsessed even, about the whole rangers situation for the last few months logging onto this site every day to get the latest news and views but i think, today, for the first time, the enormity of the situation has finally hit home. Maybe its todays DR headlines, the MSM are sayin wat has been said on here for the last couple of years, but all i can say is im soo sooo happy they are finally gettin their comeuppence for their years of cheating and how i felt after another undeserved defeat at the hands of them when i was only a wain watchin Tommy Burns’ team. It hurt so much and i didnt like how they made me hate so much. Im beginning to believe in karma. Maybe its the hangover talking, or the fact i got lucky last nite but i feel a real sense of everything bein put to rights this weekend… and, with the end part of layla by eric clapton playin in the background, life doesnt get much better than this

    B-)

  21. I think Ferguson considered himself an uberhun when he played for him (headbutted Bobby Murdoch) but was shown the door when he married a Kafflik. So, when he was asked to come back as manager when he had had the success at Aberdeen, he refused. Probably still has time for them but without any of the illusions of ye regular follow, follower.

Fergie was one of my dad’s apprentices at Remington Rand in the 60s. My dad was a life long Celtic man and thought Fergie was a great guy. Would never hear a word against him. Remembered him as “a bluenose but a good wan”.
