Forged on the road

1529

Many of our early season concerns manifest themselves in the performances against Dundee.  A 1-1 draw at Dens on the last day of the summer transfer window, followed by a 2-1 win at Celtic Park in November, told the story of a club just about getting by on the domestic front.

The Celtic Park win saw us go seven points ahead of Aberdeen on the same games played, but defeat to a Stuart Armstrong goal for Dundee United, and a home draw against bottom of the table Ross County, briefly gave us what looked like a genuine championship challenge.

Something happened at Rugby Park in the first week of the year.  Kris Commons was sublime but the improvement in Celtic’s performance was due to more than just him.  We’ve won six games on the bounce, without losing a goal, with convincing performances, in all but away to Ross County, who belie their lowly position to squeeze every ounce of effort out of Celtic.

Before last week’s game at Hampden it was possible to find plenty of “Celtic are rubbish as well” comments.  We were rubbish, earlier in the season, but you’ve watched the team grow in recent months.  So much so that it’s becoming difficult to give an honest opinion on the goalkeeper, he is so rarely troubled.

Forged on the road

On Wednesday we have the Glasgow derby against Partick Thistle, before a trip to Perth next weekend, often a difficult venue for Celtic.  That will bring to end a nine game run since New Year, with only one game at Celtic Park.  The growth in the team has been forged on the road, often on smaller grounds with variable surfaces.

The return to Celtic Park, on Thursday 19, against the Italians with their famous blue and black stripes, will present Ronny Deila and his players with a bigger challenge.  It’s not a must-win game, but it’s an absolutely necessary test to a team who are looking more and more imperious in Scotland with each passing week.

    Depressing news.

Stick with it, though: the situation should level off fairly quickly, then you’ll be able to think more clearly, without having to worry about those nearest and dearest to you …

I see no way out for them financially so hopefully they are fuc@@ked.

  10. Spoke to some Raith fans at the weekend. They were boycotting the game yesterday as earlier in the season some of them got attacked and had a banner stolen at Ibrox.

Some of their kids were pretty upset at what they had seen but Ann Budge was unavailable for comment.

Really sorry that you have had to endure this.

When the ad was first suggested we wanted to keep Paul well away from it as he has had to endure this type of thing himself.

When the first draft went up in November I got the treatment as my email address was on here. I have been more reluctant to use it on here since.

At Xmas I must admit to thinking that there was a gathering storm coming my way when the ad was published but strangely (or so I thought) it never materialised.

Obviously they turned their attention to you.

BRTH, who himself has been subjected to this, gave me a big row for engaging with them on Twitter – which I know you did too. Just mute them or block them – do not engage.

You laughed at their stupidity and this only furled their anger. As you have chosen not to be anonymous on Twitter they were able to target you.

If you read their last two statements Angela Haggerty gets a mention in both – why?

They know who she is and she is an easy target.

I would suggest changing your Twitter account if you plan to keep using it and do not engage with them.

The bams drew 1-1, the fiver accie was for a right few bob…..but what’s for you go by you

Keep an eye out for 2-1s in Brazilian football, in fact if you just want a few bob bet both teams to score

Sorry to read of you and yer family’s distress fella.

But, I think that you are a victim of the shocking levels of naivety that envelopes this stupid action of making a ‘statement’ about the huns. I mean…think about it…why wait till 3 years after the horse has bolted to…all of a sudden assume…tthe roles of – Judge – Jury – Executioner – of the club which, means so much to these animals?

Some folk on here dont seem to be aware of the social concept of…rocking the boat re: the huns. And, anyway…if there was to be a ‘statement’ at all…it should have been directed at the cowards who run Celtic FC…peas in the same pod as, Stewart Regan for example…terrified of the social unrest!

When the huns were put into aministration…the cowardice was obvious straight away by, not relegating them till the last O## F### game had took place and…it was at that point that, Celtic FC should have rocked the boat by demanding that the huns be kicked out of the league immediately…and let it be known that there would be no kid-gloves worn whilst this scandal was being dealt with. Apologists for Celtic will tell you that…”Celtic couldny say anything etc…”…it was Celtic’s duty to fight the corner of their cheated fans…the fact that, they didn’t and, worse still…that this in-action was condoned by a Celtic supporter base…lazily occupying the comfort-zone, filled with Jelly and ice cream…took their eye off the ball and, allowed the Celtic boards in-action/collusion with those who feared ‘civil-unrest’…to go unchallenged? This period was grossly mis-managed by Celtic FC and has led to fans frustration boiling over as the fixture v’s the huns loomed large on the horizon and…sadly…folk on this site, composed and compiled this ‘statement’ with little or, no consideration of the consequences which suggests to me that, the higher echelon movers and, shakers of CQN and others who drafted the ‘statement’…didny think it through to final detail which suggests, to me…that, naivety, egoism and complacency were over-riding factors in the completion of the ‘statement’…hopefully I’m wrong, but…you might just be the 1st victim in all of this.

For me…the ‘statement’ was nothing more than a, boiling over of frustration in the fact that, nothing official has been declared by Celtic FC.

It seems that some folk dont realise that…the huns arent only the ‘peepil’ they ARE the establishment…jus ask Neil Lennon.

Tims are the underdogs in this country…we always will be.

Some naive folk think that we are the topdogs coz the huns died and are in a different league from us…in football terms…thats correct but, in terms of the social fabric…they ARE the ‘peepil’…our chance came when the huns violently created the ‘shame-game’ and, we were summoned to a Govt-Summit coz we had 3 players booked!!!

Celtic should have held a media conference and announced why they ‘wouldnt’ be attending the Govt-Summit…they didny and, the club…Neil Lennon in particular…ended up the puchbags. On that occasion…Celtic FC let us down. When Rangers were put out the league and were then given a licence…that was Celtic FC’s cue to rock the boat…they didny and the charade was allowed to roll-on for 2/3 years till some Celtic fans frustration boiled over and, they thought that the best way to deal with this was…to make a ‘statement’…but, the statement should have been addressed to the folk who didny act when they should have…the Celtic board.

Eddie I hope this scandal for you personally and your family, soon subsides.

That’s all I can say – take care pal.

Have to leave before I get pulled, bye.

I posted last year about how I’d been out of work for a while. After a while I took a job that usually I’d never look at as it was basically as a labourer on a building site. It did however pay the bills and I was grateful for the work.

I continued applying for jobs and ventually got a Foremans job with a company from manchester who do a lot of work for Scottish Power. Money was good and the guy who runs things is a great person.

Why am I telling you on CQN this? Well a few weeks ago I tweeted about the advert in the Herald, I encouraged fans to spread the word amongst fans of other clubs.

For some reason the huns on twitter thought that I had funded and paid for the advert and went mental, my notifications on twitter went mental.

A friend who suports Rangers phoned me up and said there a thread on a hun site where they were encouraging people to share any info they had on me. My home phone number, who I worked for etc was disclosed.

We recieved a few phone calls to the house late on and tbh, while I was sure it was just idiots, Isobel was not so sure and we eventually decided to call the Police.

I went to work as normal on the monday. By 10 o’clock it was evident that this wasn’t a normal day. I was getting litterally hundreds of notifications from twitter, non were complimentary. “wer you abused as a child” “peado” “IRA loving Peado” being the majority of tweets.

My bosses wife worked in the office 1 day a week, monday, she adswered the phone etc. She had to go home she was so upset about the abuse she took that morning. Over 300 emails and phone calls demanding I be sacked as I was a sectarian bigot.

On the wednesday one of my fellow workers stoped at Abington sevices for fuel in a works van, the guy was from Manchester, he was approached by 2 guys demanding to know his name “are you that fenian Rice”. Thankfully there is CCTV at Abington and apart from being a bit shook up he was ok.

After that incident my boss asked if I would take some time out. There have been 2 other incidents since and tbh I’m glad I’m at home just now as I know how vunerable Isobel feels.

    l

I’m meeting up with the boss this tuesday and hopefully I can get back to work soon.

What pisses me off is how these morons can continually get away with this, don’t we pay our taxes so the Police can protect us from these lowlife scumbags?

The online stuff will be traceable and attributable. Very difficult to deny.

The phone calls, which are more of a concern due to their personal nature, are likely to have been from withheld numbers,so action will be more difficult.

    Met you at “The Coarner”.

Scrolled back and seen that post, went no further so no doubt other posters will have proferred the same sentiments.

Nobody should be subjected to the vile and abhorrent intimidatory filth that you and your family have been subjected to for youdaring to have an opinion and articulating it.

Anyone wishing to have the dead team in anyway, shape or form should hang their heads in shame because this is the collateral damage.

When the Ad was first mooted there was some deluded lunatic on here posting that those who contributed to the Ad should be prepared to put their name to it (think they were advocating this from sunnier climes as well).

Coming as I do from the North of Ireland I had an idea of how that might have panned out. You might as well just have painted a target on yourself. Ffs their own board and people who openly support them cannot attend their home games and the inactivity and hand wringing goes on from those in authority who don’t give a second thought to charging Celtic supporters with singing.

Anyway stay strong and keep the faith. Anybody who has met you for a second or reads your posts on here knows that you are a strong individual. I’m delighted that your Boss understands and I sincerely hope that “these troubles too shall pass”.
