Mistakes in the transfer market are more costly to a club than any mistake made on a football field. It’s too easy to spend millions on a transfer fee and commit to the kind of contract you or I will never see in our lives. After contracts are signed you need to hope the player settles into the squad, and the city, sometimes hope he learns the language, and assume he can cope with the weather.
So how do you offset this? In recent seasons Celtic have tried, when possible, to agree a deal in principle, but front-load the transfer with a short-term loan deal. This gives the club six months or a year to ensure all the boxes are ticked before they commit the kind of resources which would have an impact on multiple seasons.
Miku is a case in point. Glasgow is a long way from his native Venezuela, and as different from Madrid or Valencia, where he spent most of his adult life, as you will find in Western Europe. He is a almost certainly a better player than we have seen since he arrived at the end of the summer transfer window, but it would be foolish to suggest he has settled well at the club.
If Miku doesn’t cut it, he will return to Spain in the summer, or sooner, and Celtic will have conserved millions.

Thanks I went off to the SFL web site, its at the bigotdome!!!!
According to the BBC Vidiprinter, Little was sent off for a “professional foul”, whatever that is.
Paul
Its a double edged sword.Any loan period means the player nor the club are entirely 100% committed.
Elgin player sent off !!! Not Andy Little.Apparently both players have same number and news wires reporting it wrong!!
Sevco: the ghostly remnant of a hideous apparition reflected in an old and cracked mirror hanging on the tattered wall of an abandonded hovel in a flyblown, run-down and forgotten part of town.
The Elgin boy sent off for a tackle on that odious individual Black.
Chick was apoplectic with rage on shortbread!
The amount of opposition players sent off against SevCo is truly staggering
I make that eight this season
We should have known that The Rangers don’t get players sent off. After Black getting away with that tackle last week it seems like it would need an assault with a deadly weapon before a ref would even consider a red card.
Chick calmed down at HT , now admitting a yellow card should have sufficed for Elgin player Paul Harkins!!!
Trigger happy Sevconian ref gave straight red, typical!!!
well, there’s a surprise. Sevco have spent weeks moaning about tackles despite employing the thuggish Ian Black, the referees are always too happy to oblige them regardless of their new club status.

Get the feeling that Black could enter the field of play with a machete and play on with impunity
must be about 8 so far, not many games at the devildome finished with 11 especially if their struggling.

So sad to see how far MON has fallen, did a really good job at Villa as well.
Really is true that no one really does much after leaving celtic.
Go on Oldham
Just back in from the funeral of a good Celtic man, James (Jim) McEwan. Nice DVD montage of his life put together by his family and partner Alison. A great send off from the AOH club in Port Glasgow. If your having a tipple tonight, could you possibly raise a glass in his memory.

Odd business that in Belfast.
Old enough to remember the days when minority complaints would be airily dismissed by ‘that’s democracy’ or ‘take your grievances to the ballot box’.
Seems democracy ain’t such a good idea any longer.
Wonder why.
