Game time shortage for Compper

768

While the postponement of today’s Premiership game against Dundee was inevitable, Brendan Rodgers and the players will be far from happy not participating in a game they prepared for.  For the manager, in particular, this of one of the two games he could deploy Marvin Compper before heading to Ibrox a week on Sunday.

Compper signed his Celtic contact in December but it will be March before he wears the hoops for the first time. His experience would be invaluable at Ibrox next week, but on the back of only one game, and that against lower league opposition?

I don’t know the player but without further evidence, I’d stick with Ajer and Simonovic.

  1. Give comperr 90 minutes at the weekend. See how he reacts. Pretty simple.

Simo is our new scapegoat but he’s done the biz at the eye pox before. I’m not too worried about it.

They are the second best team in Scotland at this point. We have to respect that but we’ve a worse record against st Johnstone over the last 2 years. We should fear no one.

They’ll play the way they play and it’s similar to the way they’ve been playing for two years with better organisation and a bit more energy than before. If we can isolate their full backs and get them turned we will destroy them.

Most of it will be about our attitude and game plan. Brendan seems to take a game or two to work out the opponents thinking and changes things a touch to compensate. I expect something a bit different against Murrtys dirties.

If we turn up switched on we win. Simples.

  2. DENIABHOY, if u have watched any of the latest zombie games u must be aware of the very poor attempts of any of the opposition teams making a competitive fist of it. Also the lenient mibs. Brendan has already touched on it when speaking about last st johnstone game

celtic are now under siege from smsm, mib, and everybody else with the pov “anybody except celtic” of which there are plenty. They see a very small window of opportunity to get sevco into the euro money. Celtic will have to be at their best for the run in, any thing else will let the zombies in.

f*** them all we will overcome. In brendan we trust

I found this for the price from Glasgow Airport to Grangemouth

Jump in the taxi £ 2.30

    59.37 km. x £ 1.10 per km £ 65.70

    Waiting in traffic (~14 min.) £ 5.10

    Total £ 73.20

They will go long trying to turn our defenders they will also push their full backs onto KT and JF, they will not try to play through centre midfield, they do get runners from midfield, playing one twos to get behind, they have improved with players they cannot afford but have been allowed to bring in, scoring plenty goals but if we do our preparations well there should be no surprises.

  5. Alfredo Morelos will stay at Rangers until at least the summer after Beijing Renhe decided to sign a player from Mongolia instead.

From the DR…..really surprised by this..

I do have to laugh when I hear talk about our defensive frailties, apart from the fact we have loads injured, we have the best defensive record in the league. Goals against are as follows and keep in mind we lost four in one game; Celtic 18; Hun 32; sheep 33; lennys bhoys 32; hertz 27 and Killie 36

  9. Mursheen – I have thankfully avoided watching any of their games since they last played us. Of course there are a lot of people lined up against us including the MIBs but I don’t think other teams lie down against them. WHy would they? Celtic supporting players in other teams don’t take it easy when they play us. Hibs are rammed with Celtic connections and I’m sure play as hard against us as they do against Sevco. St Johnstone went to Ibrox and beat them 3-1 a few weeks ago, and took great delight in doing so.

I don’t buy that argument, sorry.

I was just about to type a post this morning when I discovered this post I found in my

Documents?., I may already had posted it,maybe not?. Just ignore it if I have already

posted it before.I’ll add what I was going to post this morning at the end of this post to gerryfromthebrig.

    Paul67 etal.

I’m inclined to agree with most of what GERRYFAETHEBRIG said at 1.50am

I started supporting Celtic in 1953 for no other reason other than I saw a bit of magic

at a game against Falkirk at Brockville Park, that time I was at the game with

one of my older brothers who Supported Celtic and I was a bairn, and I supported

my local team, that wee bit of magic turned me from a Bairn into a Man and a Bhoy

in the blink of an eye, in the flick of a switch I was a convert to the Celtic cause, the good times,

and the plenty of bad times.

As GERRYFAETHEBRIG says it may be the wrong time to become a Celtic supporter,

watching them win almost every game we play, but there will be bad times, I’ve went through

plenty of the bad times, but the good timesalways follow on from the bad,

it’s not very enjoyable to watch Celtic in the bad times.

In no way am I saying that these are the bad times we have been lucky since BR took over

the helm at Celtic Park, Setting a British Record for the most wins on the trot, that was

some achievement by any standards, very few teams in World football can say that they

went unbeaten for 69 games, we should be very proud of our record. The first British team

to win the European Cup, set a record of winning 9 titles in a row, another great achievement,

I could go on with other things that Celtic have achieved in their history, but you can look the list

    up,

Celtic have done many thing that makes me proud to be a Celtic fan. But lose a couple

of games then they are lambasted by our very own fans, as Gerry says we should have followed

Celtic through the Bad times first, get into losing a few times, and if your still a Celtic supporter

at the end of it, you will still be a Celtic Supporter until your time comes.

As for winning in Europe, we haven’t a hope in hell of achieving another Glorious year like 67,

We may be ahead of the game in Scotland, but Europe will be a dream that we hope may

come to fruition, but we will have to wait a long time before it happens.

We can’t compete with the PSGs of this world, we may be the richest team in Scottish Football but we’re certainly way down the list in World terms.

The game Yesterday, was something like in 67 when we were beaten by Dundee Utd twice, I was disappointed that we lost 2 games that season, but it didn’t detract from the season that we had. it’s not a god given right that we musn’t get beat, there will be seasons where we are poor in football standards,it comes to all of us,but I’m confident that we will win the League, and maybe the treble.

When Boyata and Ajer got injured, our rhythm went out the window, and Kilmarnock took

    advantage of that.

But there was a plus for us in the form of a gift from Hibs beating the cheats, and holding up

their fanastic (in their, and the rags, eyes) run of form of late.

Excuse me from my ramble, Age is catching up with me, and my post will read like that of a kid

has written this, but no, it was my fault, if it’s not worded properly, forgive me for all the

    mistakes I made.

I must apologise for using the word kid, they would probably be years ahead of me in the grammatical side of things.

we really need to accept the good, and bad, in our game,we are not the only team that has been beaten a couple of times this season.

This is my add on to what I had written before.

I’ve been lucky enough to have support Celtic when we had the best Manager ever in my life time, Jock Stein.Life was great to be a Celtic Supporter when Jock took over the helm at Celtic Park.

Now In the present day we have another Manager who is hopefully going to be similar to the big man, a Great Manager for Celtic,he has achieved something that Jock didn’t do,not lose a game in a full season,Some acheivement for any Manager.

By the way Brendan Rodgers wasn’t my first choice as Manager at the time,Steve Clarke would have been my choice, Brendan had never won anything with the teams he had managed previously. But I couln’t have been more wrong, Brendan is a fantastic Manager, going through a whole season unbeaten is a great acheivement, and I hope that he will set another record this season,Winning the treble for a second consecutive season will put him in the record books again.

Celtic will never reach the heights of the Stein era re winning a European Cup again, unless we can get into a European League where the financial awards will be much better, Celtic should be at the Center of organizing a new European League. You don’t need a t/v deal, each team should have similar to Celtic T/V, watch it on your computer, and if you have the correct t/v you can transfer the game from your computer to your t/v,simple.

There must be enough countries that would love to join a Pan European set up that is devoid of the European elite who can manage to get 3 or 4 teams into the Europen set up as it is now,an unfare competition that is governed by four countries, We don’t need that type of competition,I’d rather it was fair for all countries that join up for a new set up.

Just think we would lose the cheats of this World,ie No Scottish referee’s would referee games, that would be a blessing in itself, No referee’s like the one in charge of referee’s like Dallas, in the present Champions League setup, we wouldn’t be involved with the SFA who are probably the worst association in World Football, maybe even ban all news agencies from commenting on games, it would be my ultimate dream, but I doubt that I will long enough to it happen,as one would say wishful thinking.

Again I must apologise for the grammar, and phraseologynot a strong point for me in late years, I’m lucky I can put a few words together.

  11. PB- Dundee game will be next midweek, back to 9 points, then 12 at Poundland, normal service will be resumed

Simo is our new scapegoat but he’s done the biz at the eye pox before. I’m not too worried about it

    ——–

He was at fault for the goal in the 5-1. Agree about the scapegoating though.

  14. PRESTONPANS BHOYS – the stats don’t reflect the fact that in most domestic games we have the majority of possession and hence limit the number of goalscoring opps the opposition have. From mid to front we have the ability to pin most teams back when we feel like it.

When I refer to defensive frailties, I am referring to the fact that when our defence is put under pressure then mistakes are often made. Goals don’t have to be the result of that, we often are let off by poor finishing from the other team.

We normally lose goals against SPFL teams against the run of play and when there was no apparent danger. Denfenders caught out of position, defenders static at set pieces, defenders being outmuscled or outpaced, defenders giving away possession with slack passes or the goalkeeper failing to deal with ball to feet situations.

A lot of this may be due to the constant changing of the back line due to injuries but much of it is due to us being relatively bereft of talent at right back and centre half.

ML, suspended or not, should not be our first choice RB. He is now a regular source of panic during games. Simunovic likewise and DDV too.

  15. Salve, Salve.

Quick question – When was the last time we started with an all Scots IX ? (I have in mind starting against St.Johnstone oin the MON years) but sure one of youse stattos will know.
