Do to Scotland what you did to Celtic

282

I don’t want to see a single Scotland player forced to miss the Croatia game as a result of Billy Gilmour’s positive test, announced today.  I did not want to see 13 Celtic players forced to miss two games, two weeks training sessions and isolate at home, following Christopher Jullien’s positive test in January.  I did not want to see Ryan Christie miss Celtic games after Stuart Armstrong’s positive result in October, but the latter two happened.

The disruption caused to Celtic’s season was immeasurable and, when 13 players as well as coaching staff were forced to isolate, the result of predatory Track and Trace action.  Billy Gilmour did not travel to Wembley alone, he did not have his own dressing room at the stadium, he did not eat alone, he did not socialise alone.  The government officials who hammered Celtic will look the other way today.

Ms Sturgeon, if  you are that concerned with public health, do to Scotland what you did to Celtic.  We all know there is zero chance of that happening.

Interesting that Swinney’s defence was that his colleague, Ivan McKee, HAD commented unfavourably on the Tartan Army’s travelling but failed to mention that he did so only when the BBC reporter pressed him for comments. There was no voluntary condemnation and none would have been made without the reporter’s questions.

When presented with evidence that no social distancing (unsurprisingly) was observed at the Fan Zones, he continued to praise them as well policed and not under consideration for scrapping or restricting.

We get the Governments we deserve and while we won’t let them get away with murder we might allow them some involuntary manslaughter.

  4. Awful article and some equally awful responses. We are surely better than this.

    Aff oot.

  5. Are we to believe that Gilmour did not travel, eat or room with anyone else in the squad set up, never mind train with or be treated by coaches, physios etc and at all times remained at least 2 (1?) metres distant? And hugging Mount and James, Chelsea team-mates didn’t happen..?

    Aye, right, as they say.

  6. If I remember rightly, Celtic had 2 people positive post Dubai ; second one was never named. This suggests that there was transmission. We did this to death at the time but i’m sure the seating on the plane and buses did not meet Scottish health standards; hence we got battered. The club put out a statement at the time thanking the Gov and SFA for their guidance. It was only Lennon who spat his dummy and has bought some more to spit

We didn’t lost the league by a country mile due to Covid

“But it gets a bit tiresome when he interprets the root cause of every factor of life’s adversities which adversely affect Celtic is the fault of the Scottish Government.

So for the purposes of the argument.

“If Gilmour is the only absentee tomorrow, then what are Lawwell and McKay going to do in a practical and meaningful sense, as opposed to them having Paul Brennan set squirrels running blaming the Scottish Government?”

There has also been at least one 2005 report of squirrels preying on atypical animals, such as an incident

where a pack of black squirrels killed and ate a large stray dog in Lazo, Russia.

    – From Wiki/SIMBT.

  10. Dontbrattbakkinanger on

three-year-old boy was left pouring with blood when he was attacked by a “pack” of squirrels as he fed them.

The animals pounced and bit F R five times at a country park in Cornwall, his mother S, said.

“All of a sudden six of them came at him. I’ve never heard such a heart-rending scream. There was blood dripping everywhere,” she said.

Cornwall Council said it may put up warning signs about feeding animals “if this becomes a regular problem”.

So, what does it take for you and Timmy and James F and others who , after all, are not SNP supporters- merely Independence Supporters- to get to the point of realising we are being treated differently?

You criticise Paul for not keeping quiet on this but you say you will take it seriously if our craven Board raises its voice (despite Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon already making statements to that effect).

I have difficulty in believing you are all not supporters (merely voters) for/of that party. You spring to their defence every time Paul criticises their football interference.

    ———

Paragraph 1) – I addressed the first point in a response earlier to, I think, Greenpinata. Much as it obviously pains several people on here, there is no proof as yet that the Gilmour situation is being handled any differently at this stage.

In the event of him being the only absentee – and it may be relevant that McGinn and Robertson have deleted what may be incriminating evidence from their social media accounts – then there will be evidence that this matter is being handled differently.

As I said earlier, the SFA get out will be to claim that NHS Teesside rules are different to those which NHS Scotland operated in January 2021 and August 2020.

Paragraph 2) – by the time N Lennon raised the issue after Mr Lawwell’s apology, his credibility – and that of Celtic on the matter – was in shreds. His self seeking rant did neither himself or the club any favours.

Lawwell’s previous apology on Dubai was akin to an altar boy having been caught drinking altar wine and being dragged by the ear to apologise to the parish priest all the while mumbling ‘sorry’ while staring at his feet.

Neither carried a shred of credibility or culpability.

I repeat that if the current custodians of Celtic PLC/FC feel disadvantaged by external forces then they are duty bound to address these to protect their shareholders if nothing else and by more effective means than mumbling their surprise and disappointment, or hanging a visibly unwell man out to dry in public.

Paragraph 3) – This is Paul’s blog and he can say what he likes. I view his comments as I described You clearly disagree.

I think it is convenient for the current custodians to have their chosen blogger peddling this line as they perceive it as likely to take the heat off their own inadequacies. Judging by the first couple of pages of responses it works.

And for the umpteenth time, I am currently not, never have been and never will be a member of the SNP.

  13. Rocky Squirrel celebrated a victory in a Portland, Maine court today by being awarded the right to not only obtain a handgun but, also, to get a concealed hand gun permit. After the verdict Rocky hugged his lawyer Jerry Meisterfibber as well as his long time cohort, Bullwinkle Moose.

The case was filed because Rocky Squirrel was denied a gun and a concealed weapons permit to protect himself from a hungry hawk who was threatening to kill and eat Rocky. He initially tried to get a restraining order against the hawk but was turned down with the judge citing “natural selection”.

Rocky won the gun trial by his lawyer claiming that natural selection only pertains to animals on strictly vegan diets and not those that are carnivores or omnivores. He argued that “a hawk is a carnivore and a squirrel an omnivore due to the fact that squirrels have been known to eat meat. Thus, the linguistics tell us a squirrel is protected under the second and a half amendment. Now if a tomato kills a grape the linguistics of this argument tell us the grape deserved to die and is not protected by the second and a half amendment and by virtue of natural selection the tomato gets to eat the grape”.

The defense argued that the real reason Rocky Squirrel wanted a gun is the kill his longtime nemesis Boris and Natasha. They argued that actual hawks cannot kill cartoon characters. They, also, wondered why Rocky Squirrel had rights seeing that he is completely animated.

The judge responded that a lot of animated people have a right to own a guns. He used his cousin Ned as an example saying: “Uncle Ned gets excited and animated whenever someone throws gasoline on the bar-b-que”.

As of press time it has been learned that Rocky and Bullwinkle celebrated their victory by getting drunk and shooting up a brassiere factory.

“And for the umpteenth time, I am currently not, never have been and never will be a member of the SNP.”

Just a defender of them at all opportunities. Their spokesepople are more believable than Neil Lennon. Their partialities and biases do not diminish theur truths.

And Billy Gilmour is one small example of a recurring trend. It is not an isolated example.

If needs be, I am sure they could identify a 3rd choice keeper or a guy like Nathan Patterson, who is only there for the experience, and offer them up as a sacrifice to perceived equality of treatment.

There is just nothing that the SNP backers wil not swallow

  16. It’s a funny world where The Scottish Government and the SFA have clearly, beyond doubt treated out club differently to the Huns and the national team, and this had had a material effect on the success of our football team yet a pro-Celtic blogger points it out and it’s all his fault, the people running the club’s fault or the manager’s fault.

We seem to have collectively disappeared down such a narrow rabbit hole that genuine injustice against our club (all of us) is instantly reframed. There’s probably no way back when the injustice is so clear and yet the blame is so quickly attributed to the Board, and bizarrely, our host.

I don’t see that Paul needs to qualify the criticism with any acknowledgement of the failure of the club in other areas. We were clearly treated differently, this isn’t a political issue it’s one of fairness and the effect the lack of it had in our season.

It’s a bit weird, one group accepts that although clear and obvious different treatment, even the board have limitations in dealing with any officialdom in Scotland- as even them, yes even the Celtic Board are perceived as Irish and Catholic and treated differently.

Another group a) can’t allow critism of the SNP, for example James Forrest Blogger has an immediate childish reaction to Paul’s articles whenever they are mentioned. and b) avoid any commment on but ask what have the board(who they perceive as not SNP in politics) will do about it. It’s a double whammy! Deflect from the real problem, which is and always in very unequal treatment of us.

It appears there is a trend…..the more Yes vote you are the more you hate the board. It’s not hard and fast, but you’ll see over twitter and especially on here a common trend. There are exceptions of course

  20. timmy7_noted on

It’s reassuring to know that whilst Celtic are being so unfairly treated the bloggers are calling it out.

We argue among ourselves about that treatment and the people who could actually do something about it are, as ever, silent as the grave.

  21. So Billy Gilmour had no “close contacts” not his room mate in the hotel, whoever he sat beside on the bus or plane that was within two metres of him, no one at dinner. Whilst Celtic had to isolate thirteen players and travel in nine coaches to Dingwall weeks later and the Huns car shared to and from training.

The pine martens apparently prey on squirels and while the remnants of the Irish Popular Front for Red Squirel Liberation know well to avoid the pinemartens ,the evil bloated yankee imperialist grey squirels arent aware of this and have been dying in large numbers as the liberating army of pinemartens advances.
