Glib, shameless, fit and proper

1532

Before digesting news reports that Dave King is set to return to Scottish football as a director of Newco Rangers, it’s probably worth a caveat.  Today’s ‘news’ has the same heritage as pretty much every false steer emanating from Ibrox over the past decade.  Honest Dave King may well hope to take over at Ibrox but I could just as easily believe he has no intentions of getting involved.

Two months ago King accepted liability for 41 counts of contravening the South African Income Tax Act, while agreeing to pay the resultant bill, the equivalent of £46m.  By act of sheer comic genius he is being heralded as the most appropriate person to take control of Newco Rangers, the club brought about by the disastrous income tax affairs of Oldco Rangers, while King was on the board.

Lord Nimmo Smith prevaricated on some issues in his report into Oldco but he was unequivocal in his condemnation of the directors, including King. South African judge, Brian Southwood, described King as a “glib and shameless liar” in 2011.

In every practical sense this man is a perfect fit for the Rangers group of clubs.  Every scrap of information available on how he conducts his affairs screams ‘Rangers tradition’.

As for Fit and Proper?  Don’t make me quote a second judge!

In the event the SFA have to make a Fit and Proper decision on King they will have to consider Nimmo Smith’s view.  It is not even remotely credible that the SFA are competent to rule on King while their president was subject to the same criticism from Nimmo Smith (although Judge Southwood provides a convenient out).

The narrative being peddled today is a final throw of the dice by some, nothing more.  ‘A guy will hunn’ers of millions is coming in to make everything OK’.  Aye, sure thing.

  1. There has been ten times more, and more written on here about King and Rangers than the Daily Record could ever hope to write even if it put its whores on triple time.

Just e-mailed you mate. If anybody else wishes to donate to the ‘Mini St. John Doyle’ Fund in memory of Sean Ryan please e-mail me.

The fund is in memory of St. John Doyle and Linda’s Son, Sean who was still born in 2000. Their dream before St. John Doyle’s untimely passing was to buy two log cabins by Loch Lomond to give families who have suffered similar heartache a place to go for a bit of respite. Linda and the Ryan Clan plan or forging ahead with St. John Doyle’s dream.

To date CQNers and Lurkers have raised £860; this was to buy four tickets to send the Ryans to the Ajax game on 22nd Oct. and to buy a wreath, which was with George yesterday as he rested at home. Not a place to post but anybody who has donated and wishes to see the wreath I will e-mail you. The four tickets have bought and I will take them to the Ryans on your behalf later this week.

After the cost of the tickets and wreath we currently have £605; this and all other donations received up to the Ajax game will be handed to the ‘Mini St. John Doyle’ Fund in the name of CQN.

Thank you for your donations, proving once again CQN’s legendary status.

George will receive the Fortified Rights at St. Andrew’s Cathedral tonight at 18:30 and his Requiem Mass tomorrow at 10:00.

God Bless George Ryan, God Bless the Ryans, God Bless CQN.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

    Re King.

I think that the SFA must fall back on the legal position that he was a director of a failed incarnation of the current entity, and is therefore banned from holding office in it.

The SFA can ignore its own regulations, but it cannot ignore the law.

However,he can plough as many of his ill-gotten gains into TRIFCO as he likes in my opinion. It will make no difference, apart from to his bank balance.

They are screwed as a going concern for quite some time to come. Disnae matter whether the money comes from King or The Queen. It will disappear down a black hole. As will their club, company, call it what you will.

They lost the war which they started, and all we had to do was turn up,watch, and laugh. Hard.

Some Fholk simply have an agenda, and don’t seem to realise that we are not gullible bhuns…..we support a very well run Club, in a corrupt football environment …..we have ‘overcome’, prevailing against a football establisment which has all but destroyed itself trying to put their favoured club at the forefront……what is hilarious is that they contributed to the demise of oldgo, as much as sdm did……makes me smile every tim I think about it….

    Incidentally, tim = tim……… Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
