Glib, shameless, fit and proper

1532

Before digesting news reports that Dave King is set to return to Scottish football as a director of Newco Rangers, it’s probably worth a caveat.  Today’s ‘news’ has the same heritage as pretty much every false steer emanating from Ibrox over the past decade.  Honest Dave King may well hope to take over at Ibrox but I could just as easily believe he has no intentions of getting involved.

Two months ago King accepted liability for 41 counts of contravening the South African Income Tax Act, while agreeing to pay the resultant bill, the equivalent of £46m.  By act of sheer comic genius he is being heralded as the most appropriate person to take control of Newco Rangers, the club brought about by the disastrous income tax affairs of Oldco Rangers, while King was on the board.

Lord Nimmo Smith prevaricated on some issues in his report into Oldco but he was unequivocal in his condemnation of the directors, including King. South African judge, Brian Southwood, described King as a “glib and shameless liar” in 2011.

In every practical sense this man is a perfect fit for the Rangers group of clubs.  Every scrap of information available on how he conducts his affairs screams ‘Rangers tradition’.

As for Fit and Proper?  Don’t make me quote a second judge!

In the event the SFA have to make a Fit and Proper decision on King they will have to consider Nimmo Smith’s view.  It is not even remotely credible that the SFA are competent to rule on King while their president was subject to the same criticism from Nimmo Smith (although Judge Southwood provides a convenient out).

The narrative being peddled today is a final throw of the dice by some, nothing more.  ‘A guy will hunn’ers of millions is coming in to make everything OK’.  Aye, sure thing.

CFC fans watch the Huns to see them get stuffed

Our board hoping that sevco reach the SPL and assisting them in doing so is something completely different

Re King …unless he throws money at them he’ll make no difference ……Greengo and his mates need paying out ……after that is King going to put up the £12m they need to balance the books year on year….( probably more than that when the mad wages they pay get increased as a reward for the sterling job of securing promotion )

  9. hear keevins at it again with rant about troops on the street if king dave not crowned by sfa. GUYS wot is the position of ticketus have they been shafted or are they stll major player in the 2nd demise of the huns.

  10. Tommy, I doubt it as I should be in Russia very soon. Zenit’s stadium will soon be my destination for football. Will try to get to one more game work permitting. I believe that we can do well against Ajax.

  11. They are coming back; truth be known, they never went away. Sure their hubris got wounded, but like jackals, hyenas, vultures and leaches… you don’t get fat on ethics and morals.

What they do may concern us, maybe it doesn’t… but what is above question – what they do does not define us; and never will.

My club was born from hunger and poverty, its sole purpose was to alleviate suffering in all its debilitating forms.

Decades later we are where we are, but we would never be here today, to enjoy all that we enjoy, to have our hearts swell, if it had not been for a few who cared to care.

What defines us as a club, well ask one hundred Tims that question and you won’t get one hundred different answers, neither will you get one.

For me what defines us as a club, well for me as a club we care. We can’t solve the world’s problems, but we can do our wee bit to solve some of them. We can do it as individuals, we can do it as a collective, and we can do it as one if the inspired leadership is there better too. In our 125 year we take the field with a booze maker on our chest. Nothing against booze or the maker of, but we can only ever make one history, it’s our history, devoid of taint, or slander, or revision. I’m amazed that in our 125 year when the club looks to the Supporters once again to write history by their charitable ingenuity when the club has not the vision to ask for a one year sabbatical from a sponsor and in its place promote so many worthy charities. The year will be gone soon and with it the 125 and the opportunity for the club to brand our ethos on history, or the club can chose to do nothing.

Like I said, our club will only ever have one history written about it, pity there is such a chasm between our founding ideals and the grab for profit that appears so apparent today.

We don’t care more for glory than compassion simply because without compassion… there is no glory. And although some say you can buy history, let them reconcile that with the mirror, because what worth history without love and compassion. You can’t buy love, you can’t buy compassion, you can’t ever buy glory either, and money only dilutes it. Personally, I do believe you can buy history, because history is simply what is written down and recorded, just buy the writers.

The huns are coming back to buy glory.

I like seeing Celtic win football games, I like as much, if not more, Celtic, and all that it beholds, being lauded for their good.

  12. How is Fillip Twardzik doing? I work with a Czech football fan who takes a gentle interest in the Celts now. Celtic really ought to pay me for my ambassadorial work for the club but I am happy to do it for free. Recently I met a Flamengo Brazilian supporter who was told all about the Celtic history. What a history it is.

Aye Keevins is at his usual shit stirring best with this one.

He mentions Celtics Peter Lawells role on the SFA board with predictions of martial law if King is not issued a fit and proper positive decision.

The MSM want King as much as the skint Sevco for their self preserving stability recent paper sales make that obvious.

Keevins vision of a future without King fits in perfectly with Regans previous vision of social unrest if the Sevconians were not satisfied.

From Keevins (the shameless shit stirrer) in Todays Sunday Mail

“CAN you imagine what public reaction would be like if the SFA decided Dave King didn’t pass the fit and proper person test to take control of Rangers?

The fertile side of my imagination tells me troops would be deployed on the streets and we’d all be living under martial law.

Or, what if the man who would be King at Ibrox was to be given the good housekeeping seal of approval courtesy of a deciding vote cast by Peter Lawwell, Celtic’s chief executive and member of the full SFA Board?

Did yer man Keevins give any comment on King the fraudster and the fact that perhaps people with such obvious disregard for the rule of law may be neither fit nor proper to run such an iconic Scottish institution ( sic)

The MSMs constant fawning over sevco with their references to dignity , tradition …yada yada ….juxtaposed with the continuous stream of spivs, chancers and fraudsters that they link with sevco ……….MSM and sevco …welcome to each other

In my head …… That I’d do it with him, for encouragement, thing is he wants to do the half marathon and I’ve only done 10k barefoot, it was a special run for Kano, do you think it would be ok to attempt the long run 2014, in Martins name, thoughts?

Ps when my friend was younger him and a few other Celts walked to CP from Greenock and it was a big thing in the Celtic View at the time. About 30yrs ago, st Stivs will know?

What they have done is blatant, what they are doing is blatant, what they are being allowed to get away with is blatant, what the refs have in store for us when they get back might not be blatant but 2010 is a benchmark the refs would love to better.

If there is no official concern from the club – our club – then surely all is well and we can all go to sleep with the lights out and sleep a thousand dreams.

Mate, I’ve ran a few true marathons in my time. Even ran the Paris marathon half-pissed. For lots of reasons it was a run I’d lost interest in but I still got round in under four hours which was poor but was good considering. I hadn’t touched a drink for six months right up to the night before the marathon and then I got kicked in the balls with life.

Do I think you could do a true-half marathon… I KNOW you could.

    Re King.

I think that the SFA must fall back on the legal position that he was a director of a failed incarnation of the current entity, and is therefore banned from holding office in it.

The SFA can ignore its own regulations, but it cannot ignore the law.

However,he can plough as many of his ill-gotten gains into TRIFCO as he likes in my opinion. It will make no difference, apart from to his bank balance.

They are screwed as a going concern for quite some time to come. Disnae matter whether the money comes from King or The Queen. It will disappear down a black hole. As will their club, company, call it what you will.

They lost the war which they started, and all we had to do was turn up,watch, and laugh. Hard.

A positive regret for me -is the fact that Il Giovanni Montalbano

has finished the series on BBC 4(last night) without having

dealt with the on going stramash at the Bigotdome.

I am positive that Montalbano would have arrived at a satisfactory conclusion re

the eternal (hun) and SFA suitability for office under the rules question etc.

After all it is an unbroken line from Romulus and Remus eh! They never died-history oh history!

Really hope there is more to come from Montalbano.
