GONE IN 12 MONTHS: FIVE STARS – AND A MANAGER

FIVE of the Celtic squad who earned a 2-2 draw at Ibrox EXACTLY a year ago today have left Celtic over the 12-month period.

Ange Postecoglou utilised 16 players in the first game of 2023 with Canadian World Cup star Alistair Johnston, a £3.5million recruit from MLS outfit CF Montreal in the January window, making his debut at right-back.

Also featuring in the starting line-up was central defender Carl Starfelt while Josip Juranovic, Aaron Mooy, Filipe Jota and Giorgos Giakoumakis were introduced as substitutes.

GOVAN GLEE…Daizen Maeda is walking on air after thumping Celtic into an early lead at Ibrox.

Daizen Maeda fired the champions into an early lead, but two quickfire second-half lapses allowed Ryan Kent and James Tavernier, with an inevitable penalty-kick, to turn the game around.

Kyogo Furuhashi flashed in the equaliser two minutes from the end to earn the visitors a deserved point.

Before the end of the month, Juranovic had signed for Union Berlin while Giakoumakis sealed a switch to MLS club Atlanta United.

During the summer, Jota left for Saudi Arabia in a sensational £25million move, Starfelt joined Celta Vigo for a fee of around £5million and Mooy retired.

They followed Postecoglou who quit for Spurs two days after the Scottish Cup Final triumph over Inverness Caley Thistle on June 3.

TEAM: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor (sub: Juranovic 21); O’Riley (sub: Mooy 61), McGregor, Hatate (sub: Jota 77); Forrest (sub: Abada 61), Kyogo, Maeda (sub: Giakoumakis 77).
