Have yourself a troubled night in Glasgow

1188

With Lionel Messi and Barcelona focussed on winning their final group game against Benfica tomorrow night Celtic must achieve a better result against Spartak Moscow than Benfica manage at the Camp Nou to progress to the latter stages of the Champions League.

Aiden McGeady has suffered a recurrence of a pennate muscle tendon injury and is doubtful.  Georgian creative midfielder, Jano Ananidze, is also out injured, while coach Valery Karpin is under pressure to axe Argentine defenders Juan Insaurralde and Nicolas Pareja after both picked up red cards on Friday night against Zenit.  The Russian media have also turned on Dutch midfielder Demy De Zeeuw, who was at least partially culpable for the Zenit defeat.  Celtic could face a more cohesive Russian team tomorrow, although perhaps without some of their more talented players. Who this troubles most remains to be seen.

Reading (and writing) Celtic Quick News you learn of the thousands of actions Celtic fans take in order to assist others or alleviate pain and distress.  In aggregate these actions can and do move mountains.

Yesterday it was announced that one of our family, Rod Stewart, is donating proceeds of his new single, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, to the Celtic Charity Fund and Teenage Cancer Trust to fight this horrible disease and assist those afflicted by it.

The single will be available for download from this Sunday, 9 December.  It offers you and me the opportunity to raise awareness – and funds – on a level we would otherwise never be able to achieve.  Charity is part of your job as a Celtic fan.  On this occasion, on aggregate, we can have an enormous impact.

Still looking for tickets for tomorrow night?

You can email an auction bid for two Wee Oscar Write Bands, each comes with a free ticket to Celtic v Spartak Moscow.  Send an email with your bid to weeoscar4life@gmail.com.  Competition closes at 20:00 GMT tonight.

You can buy the CQN Annual at the Cathedral House Hotel before the game tomorrow night. The Hotel are organising a lift to the game too!

We’ll pick up on the SFA president once the more important matters are out of the way.

The trouble is that the SPL is going. This was decided yesterday. He will get his chance to return to the top tier. The SPL Chief execs should stand together on this issue. Nothing wrong in that.

‘If you threaten one of us then you threaten all of us.’

I need to go away, open another bottle and calm down.

He is a dangerous man and he is deliberately appealing

to ,and endorsing the darkside of the hun.

The thing is, when he does a runner, we`ll be left with

all sorts of problems to deal with.

    Great points…..

SPL commission bubbling away in the background

    Share issue prospectus weeks late

    Tims laughing….is a big one too…..

Someone just mentioned a bhun on SSB earlier tonight asking about a NEIL LENNON dart board ….????? ………. And they wonder why we are so happy about their demise…..their fans are a disgrace to the HUMAN race…….. The sooner the rankers follow follow them to zombie land the better ………

  5. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; it’s at times like these that I’m glad that we have professionals who run our club even if we don’t always agree!

Green is a dangerous man, he’s stirring up trouble about which he really has no idea. Shocking that the SFA just sit back and let him do it time after time.

I see the Sevco Brigade have officially announced a boycott of their cup tie with Dundee Hibernian. They are apparently basing this action out of a desire to achieve revenge on those who ‘were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers’.

I think this sentiment misplaced. Self-harm was the route of demise of Oldco so self-boycotts would seem more appropriate. Will they take revenge on HMRC by boycotting tax payments? Oh, whoops, they’ve already done that haven’t they…

The Rankers tribute act; the best comedy act on the circuit!

  7. The Huns are liquidated, gone, kaput, finito, what remains are the zombies and soon enough they won’t even have Sevco 2012 to support.

  8. That current SSB caller would fit in nicely with quite a few of our CQN regulars.

    Hail, Hail, We’re gonnae fail.

  9. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors on

Scott is saying he hasn’t had any pain for 2 weeks and is fit to play…….we should all be proud of him ……AND HE MUST STOP PLAYING AFTER TOMORROW NIGHT, AND GET HIS HIP ATTENDED TO, NOT JUST FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS, BUT FOR HIS LONG TERM HEALTH…….. HE HAS PROVEN HIMSELF TO BE A GREAT CELT.

  10. They did say they’d boycott clubs who came out against Rangers immediate re-admission to the SPL.

What’s taken everyone by surprise is that for once they’ve kept their word.

  11. Green in his lust to get money from the zombies of William is dangerous, look at what some of them done last year. Look at the trouble between Aberdeen and the huns which has lasted for decades. He is bringing the game into disrepute again. Teams in the first and second divisions rejected them from getting into their divisions too so are there grounds he will not take tickets for if they get into these divisions?

  12. 67Heaven … I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors

Agree, for his long term fitness he has to get himself sorted.

  13. Hun on Snyde (I am not a regular listener) and he wants Green to open up Ipox so the disgruntled hordes can watch it on the big screen!!!!!!!!!!

What if they get pumped! Implosion of the death star, hahahahahahahahahahahaha

    Huns n tele’s don’t go ohohoh

  14. For clarification.

I get the impression from some postings that a win would guarantee Celtic progress to knock out stages.

I had understood that should Celtic and Benfica finish level on points, Benfica would go through by virtue of having beaten us.

  15. dibee

They had a beam back when they played in Manchester …they were fighting among themselves at that as well as rioting in Manchester.

  16. Until now, every time Mr Green has pandered to the fundamentalist sevcovians it has been part of his ‘keep ;em sweet, get the money in’ strategy.

Now, as mentioned above, he had no choice once the talk of pickets etc arose. Can’t risk a division amongst his core customers. But this time it will cost him cash.

Collateral damage or a wee rubicon moment?

Again as mentioned above, it may also indicate no significant level of external interest in the share issue.

  17. DW it seems the boycott is being applied to those who were up front and honest.

Those who sat on the fence are being rewarded.

But we all know the underlying reason for boycotting certain teams.

Your point about unanimity begs the question of why certain teams are escaping this action.

They weren’t expelled mate, they were a new club who had never been a member of any league before, they applied for membership and were refused.

If the SFL had applied their rules, The Rangers, or Sevco as they were then known would not have been admitted to that league either.

  20. Ntassoolla,

You FORGOT to answer last night’s question.

I asked you twice but got no response.

Was the suggestion that ‘ we should not cross thoroughbreds with plough-horses’ an acceptable piece of sophistry or was it naked RACISM ?

    I have endless patience.

  21. Doctor Whatfor on

    Ntassoolla

To be able to answer the begged question one would have to be able to understand the workings of the sevconian mindset. I am proud and relieved to declare myself clueless in this regard. One must never assume that their actions or thoughts are based on any recognised form of logic or common sense.

Chuckles, of course, is merely grandstanding and I hope that he pays the price.

  22. Keep on asking KK.

The discussion was racism. Humans. Not horses.

You’ve changed your question since last night. Big new word for you. Sophistry. Been doing some reading since you last had your straw man arguments blown over by me?

  23. Celticbhoy

Do they hold the record for rioting in the most countries/city’s at the same time?

  24. Worst case scenario is that both CFC and Benfica win or draw (more likely) in which case Benfica go through on better head-to-head.

Barca have sidelined Iniesta, Xavi, Alba and a few others for tomorrow’s game which makes Benfica’s task a little easier, but we can’t really complain as if we had got a point in Lisbon or held out for another few seconds in Camp Nou then it wouldn’t matter.

Let’s hope we get the win tomorrow and that Barca’s pride won’t let Benfica take an unexpected victory.

    HH

  25. Astonishing huff by Sevco, but surely their beef is with clubs who rejected the old dead club and not the all new shiny tribute act? Also are they going to boycott Dundee Utd and the as yet named other clubs forever?

  26. Doctor Whatfor on

My fellow Doc (is Neil Lennon)

You are,of course, correct in this matter. Thank you.
