Have yourself a troubled night in Glasgow

1188

With Lionel Messi and Barcelona focussed on winning their final group game against Benfica tomorrow night Celtic must achieve a better result against Spartak Moscow than Benfica manage at the Camp Nou to progress to the latter stages of the Champions League.

Aiden McGeady has suffered a recurrence of a pennate muscle tendon injury and is doubtful.  Georgian creative midfielder, Jano Ananidze, is also out injured, while coach Valery Karpin is under pressure to axe Argentine defenders Juan Insaurralde and Nicolas Pareja after both picked up red cards on Friday night against Zenit.  The Russian media have also turned on Dutch midfielder Demy De Zeeuw, who was at least partially culpable for the Zenit defeat.  Celtic could face a more cohesive Russian team tomorrow, although perhaps without some of their more talented players. Who this troubles most remains to be seen.

Reading (and writing) Celtic Quick News you learn of the thousands of actions Celtic fans take in order to assist others or alleviate pain and distress.  In aggregate these actions can and do move mountains.

Yesterday it was announced that one of our family, Rod Stewart, is donating proceeds of his new single, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, to the Celtic Charity Fund and Teenage Cancer Trust to fight this horrible disease and assist those afflicted by it.

The single will be available for download from this Sunday, 9 December.  It offers you and me the opportunity to raise awareness – and funds – on a level we would otherwise never be able to achieve.  Charity is part of your job as a Celtic fan.  On this occasion, on aggregate, we can have an enormous impact.

Still looking for tickets for tomorrow night?

You can email an auction bid for two Wee Oscar Write Bands, each comes with a free ticket to Celtic v Spartak Moscow.  Send an email with your bid to weeoscar4life@gmail.com.  Competition closes at 20:00 GMT tonight.

You can buy the CQN Annual at the Cathedral House Hotel before the game tomorrow night. The Hotel are organising a lift to the game too!

We’ll pick up on the SFA president once the more important matters are out of the way.

  1. Lennybhoy…Supporting Neil Lennon and CFC until I die

I believe part of the decision to delay the enquiry into footballing matters was due to the accident that deadco’s legal advisor was involved in,’

It’s the SPL’s solicitor who was seriously injured in a car accident.

He is said to be one of us.

    There’s no conspiracy.

  2. Surely if the football authorities bent the rules to allow thems into the league set up, they can bend them again to allow dun utd to keep all the gate money.

CHARLES GREEN, Chief Executive of Rangers, has tonight issued the following statement.

He said: “Rangers Football Club will not be taking its allocation of tickets for the forthcoming Scottish Cup match against Dundee United at Tannadice.

“This is a unanimous decision by the board, senior management and staff at Ibrox. Everyone at this club is dismayed at the actions of certain SPL clubs, which were actively engaged in trying to harm Rangers when we were in a perilous situation and we are acutely aware of their attitude to us.

“Not all clubs who voted against Rangers returning to the SPL fall into that category and indeed we made Motherwell very welcome when we played them at Ibrox in the League Cup competition recently.

“However, feelings remain very raw and it should be no surprise that we as a club feel this way.

“It is unsurprising too that there has been a reaction from our supporters to this particular fixture.

“The last thing we as a club want to do is to compromise security arrangements for any match.

“I therefore appeal to all fans not to travel to this match and to Dundee United not to sell tickets to Rangers supporters.

“Our only regret is that this turn of events will not assist Ally McCoist and the team in what will be a very difficult fixture.

“We should make clear that the Club, the manager and the players all look forward to a situation where Rangers fans attend every match to support the team. The fans are our greatest asset.”

  4. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors on

This just gets better and better every day …….. Absolutely BRILLIANT……. Who is advising the rankers ? ….. must be jabba……LOL….

If the SFA do the right thing, they will award Dundee United the full gate money, particularly in view of the fact that the rankers are refusing their allocation …… and, if that happens, every supporter of every other club, who lives within a reasonable distance of Tannadice, should get along to that game and fill the stadium…… Smiled when dalziel said oldco had high standards / principles…… LLLLOOOOLLLL …….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Surely the SFA must make a statement as regards the Green statement re them not taking an allocation of tickets for the SC game against DUFC – mainly to set out the position re the sharing of gate money….

  6. A quick look through the Scottish Cup rules suggests that The Rangers are within their rights.

The rules state that “the visiting club shall have the right to claim admissions up to 20% of the spectator capacity of the ground”. Logically that means that they don’t actually have to claim any tickets at all.

The rules also talk about the number of complementary tickets, including Directors’ Box seats, being agreed between the two clubs. So what happens if DU argue that The Rangers are taking no tickets so are entitled to no comps and no Directors’ Box seats?

  7. Kayal33

I was going to post something similar, saved me the bother :>)

As the huns aren’t taking any tickets, DU can please themselfs as to how much they charge.

if were no Rangers why do you

    still call me a hun?

  10. How much money did the Huns stiff United for back in May?

And now Chuckles comes out with that?

    Embarrassing.

  11. Obviously , because of their high standards and integrity , they will of course refuse half the gate monies

  12. By refusing tickets, Sevco have forfieted any right to a share of gate money.

    Chuck is a clown…

  15. Surprising omission from Chuck( the man of integrity) statement is his refusal of half the gate monies .

No surprise at all….. These people really are incredible

    Valentines Day

They aren’t huns because they follow Sevco… they follow Sevco because they are Huns.

Its the old philosophy joke…. a cow has four legs and a tail … if you call a tail a leg, and and a leg a tail… how many legs does a cow have? 4… it doesn’t matter what you call them.

You’ll have to trust me … that joke slays them at the philosophy parties!

Now I’ve started it … the old CQN nomialism debate… sorry, Paul!

  18. Dundee Utd could only put up enough tickets for sale to cover the costs of staging the match.

Then they wouldn’t have to give The Rangers a penny.

This boycott is unprecidented – and Sevco have made an official statement which provides Dundee United with an extremely strong case for keeping the gate money.
