With Lionel Messi and Barcelona focussed on winning their final group game against Benfica tomorrow night Celtic must achieve a better result against Spartak Moscow than Benfica manage at the Camp Nou to progress to the latter stages of the Champions League.
Aiden McGeady has suffered a recurrence of a pennate muscle tendon injury and is doubtful. Georgian creative midfielder, Jano Ananidze, is also out injured, while coach Valery Karpin is under pressure to axe Argentine defenders Juan Insaurralde and Nicolas Pareja after both picked up red cards on Friday night against Zenit. The Russian media have also turned on Dutch midfielder Demy De Zeeuw, who was at least partially culpable for the Zenit defeat. Celtic could face a more cohesive Russian team tomorrow, although perhaps without some of their more talented players. Who this troubles most remains to be seen.
Reading (and writing) Celtic Quick News you learn of the thousands of actions Celtic fans take in order to assist others or alleviate pain and distress. In aggregate these actions can and do move mountains.
Yesterday it was announced that one of our family, Rod Stewart, is donating proceeds of his new single, Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, to the Celtic Charity Fund and Teenage Cancer Trust to fight this horrible disease and assist those afflicted by it.
The single will be available for download from this Sunday, 9 December. It offers you and me the opportunity to raise awareness – and funds – on a level we would otherwise never be able to achieve. Charity is part of your job as a Celtic fan. On this occasion, on aggregate, we can have an enormous impact.
Still looking for tickets for tomorrow night?

I think the importance of the HMRC appeal lies in the fact that the ultimate result is now back up for debate.
It does however put Lord Nimmo and his band of merry men into a bit of a quandary as they can’t now use the FTT decision as a bench mark for their adjudication..
I am remarkably unworried about tomorrow’s game…. if we win, we’ll go through to the CL knock out (so, good for reputation)…. if we go to the Europa leage (easier to pick up important co-efficient points)…. so, really, either way we’re good …. so nothing to get worked up about. Right?

I’ve heard good things about Paul George.
Just hope he recovers fully from that bad injury last season.
Cant wait for the picket line at Tannadice!
No doubt ‘manned’ by some of those who laid seige to Belfast City Hall!
HH!!
Well done to Rod Stewart.
Well done HMRC
Congratulations Jabba on becoming the PR man for Chucky. Ally quite simply not prepared to lie further than Chucky requires.

I was crying out for Vic and Ambrose to be swapped around in Lisbon.
I think Ambrose has that bit of creativity Vic lacks, and Vic has that extra bit of presence Ambrose doesn’t quite bring at the back.
I’d play Ambrose in midfield tomorrow.

Davie Leggit is fast becoming part of my daily routine.
I love comparing his ramblings to the real blotto’s.
Like you say, it could be either one of them you’re reading!
Kickinthenakas
I have already earmarked it for next Christmas.
Where are you going for your wee sash? I might be down a bit earlier tomorrow and could join you if that`s OK?
JJ
Mike on Toronto- we get 4 bonus coefficient points just by qualifying for last 16.
Far more money and glamour in CL, tomorrow is huge, EL for me will be an anti-climax, but in no way a disaster.

I can’t take any credit for Davie Leggit – I’m just an avid reader of the site!
Aleksandr Mostovoy, Spartak legend, few tens games for USSR and Russia.
” I would not say the game in Glasgow do no matter. Players must come on the pitch and fight for pride of Spartak name. Only thouse who know what that means are worth a place in starting XI. I expect to see few youngsters if they are enough strong to play tomorrow. Players think this is the game like many other games? No! Believe me, I played there and I know what I’m talking about, it’s not the stadium it’s theatre.”
Have the Sevco Zombies thought this picket line through?
I’m sure by law you can only picket your own place of work, and to a maximum of four people.
Maybe one of our legal eagles can clarify, but I’d imagine any picketing Zombies at Tannadice would get lifted.
Looks like HECTOR doesn’t do walking away either

SSN reporting that Barca have left out of their squad Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and Mascherano
And so the Show must go on…be interesting to see the MSM reaction to HMRC’s decision.
One think is for sure the MSM and sevco forums and their spokespersons will tell you that this is a Witch Hunt against the Club that died this year. People of the ilk of Neil Patey may also come away with this idea. However, if those of the latter persuasion know and understand what the issue is really about they will tell you this is not about sevco, although they are the ones that have, some would say unfortunate to have their dirty laundry washed in public.
There are thousands of EBT cases that are under review. As Corkcelt (at least I think that is who it was that posted); this is the real issue. Yes, there is no blood to get out the stone that was sevco. However, HMRC cannot afford to lose this one and will fight it to the end, to the Supreme Court.
Sevco, the club that just does not stop giving, they thought it was all over…well it ain’t. This is not the end, this is just the beginning.
God Bless HMRC.
Keep the Faith!

Da*n! I was just talking myself into not being nervous about the game, and now you’ve gone and done it!…. Why I oughta….
Lennybhoy..,
if the judgement is overturned then individuals will be hit with tax bills, so regardless of claims that there is nothing to be gained financially, there in fact is quite a bit, no
Lennybhoy,
Is it true that in the Supreme Court, Dianna Ross is the judge and sings “When will I see you again?” at the end…should suit ol’ Deidco right ennuf.

Personally don’t think the HMRC appeal is that relevant they were deed before the first tier decision, and they’ll be deed when the outcome of the appeal is known, and legal precedent will have been created.
The media celebrated prematurely on behalf of and in union with the deed club, and if the appeal is successful, it’ll be the same as it is just now i.e. Deed Club.
On the other hand and much more importantly Deed Club have a much more important date
in the Sevconian calendar.
Lord Nimmo CSC
————————————
Correctomundo.
However the fact an appeal has been made frees Lord Nimmo, should he chose to do so, to emphasise that he is looking at football rules in the spirit and purpose for which they were drafted and is not and was not constrained in any way by the FTT decision as it stands.
The FTT decision could have been used as a cop out had Lord Nimmo been predisposed or leaned on to use it as such. That justification, ie an EBT loan is not a payment and so did not require reporting, is no longer available to him as an incontested fact.
He simply has to look at the evidence, the football rules, what their underlying purpose is and decide if Rangers tried to get around it by not presenting the full footballing remuneration to the SFA. That the ebts were playing activity related is pretty easy to discern from the FTT findings. That these payments, whether repaid or not, were an inducement to a player to sign is as obvious as their concealment now is..
The last bit of wriggle room looks to have been snapped at by the HMRC decision to appeal.
Ahhhmmm John mckaaaays face is tripping him, probably understandable given the circumstances.
Good evening friends.
Seconds out, round 2…
And in more immediate matters, just under 26 hours…..
mike in toronto- sorry bud, but if I’m suffering tomorrow, I want you all in the same boat with me!

Up for debate – that’s all.
Scotland will carry on regardless 1st Tier, 2nd Tier, 25th Tier – no matter
The tragedy was that Sevco got a licence when they should have been a Woolworths.
They can’t rewrite history no matter how many ‘Tiers’ they win and they can’t remove the
fact that, they are a new club.
Meantime this country will still have a sub culture population that refer to feenyin ****ards.

Goldstar … nice to see you are in the holiday spirit! did ya not read Paul’s article ya big hun…. err… I meant, grinch!
Hope that news from HMRC does not drive wee Leggo to drink.
Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire 17:48:
It is indeed possible. However, the main driver in this is that the EBTs were abused and will set a precedent for all other cases; this is the main objective.
As the Company is in receivership, individuals could be pursued for non-declarations of said sums on their tax returns.
Tim Malone Will Tell 17:49:
lol…I would love it if one of the SC Judges were called Ross. When will I see you again?…the answer to that will be never.

Auldheid,
I wouldnt be so confident of the Nimo Smith making any decisions behore the EBT decision is final, the information and rules are and have been available, he was ment to start but bottled it till after the FTTT decision, now its postponed again for no apparent reason, going by your theory.
Auldheid
I agree totally, and very well put.
Boydstone Rovers CSC

Revenue and Customs is to appeal
against the outcome of a tribunal which
saw the former Rangers Football Club win
its tax case.
Last month oldco Rangers won its appeal
in principle against a bill from HMRC over
its use of Employment Benefit Trusts
(EBTs) from 2001 to 2010.
The tribunal stated that the “controversial
monies received by the employees were
not paid to them as their absolute
entitlement”.
Today a spokesman for HMRC said it is
appealing against the decision.
“HMRC will seek permission to appeal the
tribunal decision.”
Stv use the comparison dead club- HMRC with bleak house
Oh dear, could it get any worse?
We can’t but hope.
I never envisaged that such a dull ,damp december afternoon could suddenly become so Appealling :0))
The news today that HMRC have asked for leave to appeal has already seen jabba leap from the newly found Mount Moral High, where else could he possibly go with his rantings following todays announcement ?
