How administrators can avoid redundancies short-term

1072

There have been many questions about the unusual circumstance in football of Rangers going into administration but not making any players redundant.  It is possible, and not totally uncommon, for directors of a company in administration to arbitrarily choose to provide funds from their own resources to pay any chosen creditor, including staff. In football, players’ contracts of employment need to be with the club, but the source of payment can come from anywhere.

In this instance, Rangers Group, the club’s holding company, or any other body or person, could be in sufficient funds to provide the administrators with enough money to not only pay players, but to continue operating in a relatively normal state.  Rangers’ administrators have already suggested Craig Whyte has guaranteed to make-good wages due to be paid this week, although it was not made clear which entity would be paying, or the source of such funds.

Administrators will only be forced into player redundancies if they do not have sufficient funds available to see them through to the timely conclusion of negotiations with creditors, or if they are unable to receive binding undertakings from another source that they will step forward to pay players next month.

Various sources over the weekend suggested HM Revenue and Customs were prepared to extend generous time to pay terms to Rangers.  This club is owned by Craig Whyte.  While we all know what a stand-up guy Craig is, how likely to you think HMRC are to believe he will stick to a plan stretching out years into the future?  It’s just not going to happen.

I hear a ‘We’ll take a few years to pay too’ campaign is set to trickle through the SPL if HMRC agree to this one.  Better using the tax man as a bank than using an actual bank.

Lads, I’m reliably informed that tomorrow’s Daily Mail nails Whyte. It’s a truly sensational story.

Do YOU think he’ll walk away ?

RTC have had various discussions as to his ‘sociopathic’ personality . Nothing that we ‘little people’ think or say impacts on this type of person. We don;t even register .

If the bluenoses are expecting to oust him , they’ve got another thunk coming . I’m planning to pull up my big comfy chair , get a big 4lt tub of vanilla and enjoy tyne show.

Great post. I have to be honest and say I do judge those that cross the divide as far as Rangers are concerned ?

Is that bad? I don’t think they have made any effort to embrace an open society ?

If you think that I should shouldn’t I also forgive those that didn’t in the past because they never had a choice ?

Fair point re Pat Fenlon. It makes no sense to condemn sectarian signing policies but then attack the people who help to break them.

As matter of interest, did Linfield have the same approach as the Huns? I seem to remember a suggestion that at least one of their star players in the 70s was a Catholic.

  13. Just a couple of points to add to the workplace sectarianism debate.

No issue that it existed well into the post war era – late 70’s / early 80’s.

Not sur when it ended but I have not seen much first hand but the stories my fathers generation were of a diffent matter entirely.

However where I do disagree with the first poster to bring it up is the mines / NUM. Consequently not sure the region being talked about but from what I know most areas specifically west central Scotland were pretty mixed – the work was hard enough and gravity was the enemy of all no matter the persons background / religion.

Moving on to the bigger picture – why has Scotland turned out to be different from the NI given that they share a number of the same stresses / conflicts?

My thoughts are 3 things / events –

    The 1918 Education Act

    The Labour Party

    The NUM

To this can be added the social dynamic of ‘nickin aboot’ – sex winning out over sectarianism – no sure if everyone will agree with this but it sure makes a Glasgow wedding exciting.

I’m on an H&S course all this week and the bl…y trainer turned up minus milk today.

He did turn up with a huge selection of soft and hard sweets, tea, coffee, buns etc and sorted the milk out early doors.

  22. Can I point out and remind everyone that pre SNP anti Celtic legislation – the police video filmed the Celtic end and had such an endeavour to arrest Celtic fans, carried out a dawn raid on a young lads home because they saw him add on ‘up the ra’ to the end of a song.

Surely there is someone somewhere with a public arena that can call on the same endeavour being shown to target and arrest Rangers fans.

Being able to pick out one fan out of hundreds some might say is like finding wolly.

Well constables and detectives – take a look at any picture of the Rangers end from Saturday and your screen is filled with wolly’s.

The one sided nature of governance, policing and journalism in Scotland is shocking

After Bass Bhoy’s confession…. I feel I have to confess, too.

Bass bhoy is to blame for me becoming a hoops fan. Or is to credit for that fact!

When we met, I couldn’t understand the fuss….. it’s only a game, and all that!

Now, I’m texting him with latest hoops/ huns updates (downdates when it’s the huns!!). I’m actually able to have a properly informed discussion with him.

He was working on Sunday and got home just after KO. I was already glued to the game!!!

I LOVE it – Celtic are amazing to watch – such a skilful team, with a real magic about them.

    The fans are a delight

…. and what a GREAT time to become a Celtic fan???

Honestly, I’ve turned a corner! Seen the light!
