JOZO BAN BLOW

JOZO SIMUNOVIC will miss Celtic’s Champions league return leg against Rosenborg in Trondheim on Wednesday.

The central defender, sent off in the 10th minute during the 3-0 first round win over Alashkert last week, has been ruled out after UEFA disciplinary chiefs DOUBLED his punishment.

Simunovic served an automatic ban in the 3-1 first leg victory in the second round qualifier against the Norwegians in midweek.

And UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body has now decided his high challenge warranted further punishment and have extended his suspension.

A UEFA statement said: “The CEDB has decided to suspend the Celtic player Simunovic Jozo for two UEFA competition matches. The player has already served one match and will therefore be suspended for the next match for which he would be otherwise eligible.”

Brendan Rodgers paired Kristoffer Ajer and Jack Henry in Glasgow this week and they could play again with Dedryck Boyata only returning to training this forthcoming Monday after his extra leave following his participation with Belgium in the World Cup Finals.
