Judge King plan by those who father it

950

I’ve no affection for Real Madrid but was delighted for them, and Carlo Ancelotti in particular, last night.  It’s getting to the stage that it’s impossible to figure out who the best team in Europe actually is.

Bayern Munich’s season has been historic.  They swept aside German competitors with record-breaking ease on their way to what looked like them becoming the first team to retain Europe’s top crown in its Champions League format.  Real were irresistible.  Let’s hope for a Madrid final before the Lions in Lisbon next month.

After yesterday’s blog I heard that more journalistic allies from Anderston Quay have flocked to Dave King’s camp, including that Leggat (sp?) guy, who used to entertain many.

I’ve heard more theories as to what the Sevco board and the group trying to run their club into the ground are planning that I care to remember, but when you look at the team King in particular has pulled together, you would be forgiven for concluding there is no masterplan worthy of the name.

We can’t always judge a man by the company he keeps but we can just a strategy by those who fathered it.

Prediction: King will kill Sevco then fall on his arse.  Bump.

Here we Go for 10 In a Row!

Applications for the 10th annual CQN charity golf day, which will take place in Aberdour Golf Club on Friday 4th July, will close this Friday, 2nd May.

As ever it will be oversubscribed so if you would like to attend, email BlantyreKev and Taggsy at cqnopen10IAR@gmx.co.uk before Friday.  Cost for the full day’s entertainment including golf is £80.  There are a very limited number of non-golfer evening places at £45.  Further detail will be released nearer the date and when places confirmed.

Over the course of the season I’ve read lots of comment about the values we should aspire to as a club, specifically when it comes to alleviating poverty, both in our own community, and abroad.  CQN’ers responded incredibly to our Malawi school kichen(s) appeal, which dwarfed our work at home.

The Charity Foundation are selling badges (£1 each) before the Dundee United game on 11 May to raise funds to feed the poor and hungry in and around Glasgow.  I have volunteered as a coordinator on the day and have offered to help recruit around 100 to sell badges before the game.

This will be trophy presentation day – but the trophy isn’t coming out until after the game, so you’ll not miss any of the flesh-on-silver action.

If you are able to get involved in this initiative, which strikes the core of what we think of ourselves as a Movement, email your details to cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

Thank you.

  1. Ba and Eto’o

Do they hold the European record for the strike partnership with the least combined number of letters in their surnames?

A highly prized record if they have

I suspect some Asian teams could probably beat it so wouldn’t be a new world record, sevco style

  2. Pfayr

Why so you dins it surprising?

Don’t you think they would get the same hand up the old senior team received in the past?

  3. tommytwiststommyturns on

Prof/Bhoylo – not aware of that, but they would be the obvious candidates…maybe a Fairs Cup Final?!

Very decent end to the season..

    Sevco adopted cousins Chelsea gubbed.

Their love children Linfield gubbed for league by Cliftonville.

German bloodbrothers Hunburg possibly relegated for first time.

    Diet Clive Dunns relegated.

    Title party on Saturday week.

    Lisbon final.

    World Cup.

    Happy summer.

Surprised at Johnstone going?? The Iceman seems a decent project, let’s hope we see him in the first team at some point..

    Well played Madrid!!!

Just about the best player on the pitch

  7. Congrats to the mattress men. An all Madrid final should be better than a Real Madrid v Parks of Hamilton final.

Just assumed their youth teams would have been in a similar mess as the rest of the club

  10. Stairheedrammy on

Sevco’s youths doing so well this season has been a bit of a surprise- though locally (Inverclyde) always seems to have a much stronger link between local boys clubs and the dark side’s youth set up. As my son was going through the youth teams here any boys scouted by a Glasgow team would generally be asked to Murray Park early in the process.

  11. Two teams from the same city have never contested a EC/CL final.

Two teams from the same country have:

Milan v Juventus, Real Madrid v Valencia, Man Utd v Chelsea, Bayern v Dortmund…?

The Smug One shut up !! Wonder what his excuse will be ? Oh well, how sad, what a shame, never mind :-)

When Sevco go bust some of their youths might be worth a look at

  15. Well a satisfying afternoon.

    Celtic win

    Chelsea lose.

Must rush out for a lottery ticket and see if I can make it a treble

On a line through Chelsea, Ryecatcher’s assertion that Liverpool would ‘wipe the floor’ with either of the Madrid sides looks a tad over-optimistic.

Well done Atletico. Showed how to beat a defensive team… Play them at their own game. The arrogance just rips out of John Terry. David Luis just annoys me.

TommyTwistsAndTurns: Am I wrong to say that Milan teams were in a final?

    __________________________________________________________________________

You’re right. I thought that this was the first ever final with both teams from the same city, but, the Milan teams done it first. Final in Manchester if I remember correctly!

Despite our history, I’d like to see Atletico win.
