Judge King plan by those who father it

950

I’ve no affection for Real Madrid but was delighted for them, and Carlo Ancelotti in particular, last night.  It’s getting to the stage that it’s impossible to figure out who the best team in Europe actually is.

Bayern Munich’s season has been historic.  They swept aside German competitors with record-breaking ease on their way to what looked like them becoming the first team to retain Europe’s top crown in its Champions League format.  Real were irresistible.  Let’s hope for a Madrid final before the Lions in Lisbon next month.

After yesterday’s blog I heard that more journalistic allies from Anderston Quay have flocked to Dave King’s camp, including that Leggat (sp?) guy, who used to entertain many.

I’ve heard more theories as to what the Sevco board and the group trying to run their club into the ground are planning that I care to remember, but when you look at the team King in particular has pulled together, you would be forgiven for concluding there is no masterplan worthy of the name.

We can’t always judge a man by the company he keeps but we can just a strategy by those who fathered it.

Prediction: King will kill Sevco then fall on his arse.  Bump.

Here we Go for 10 In a Row!

Applications for the 10th annual CQN charity golf day, which will take place in Aberdour Golf Club on Friday 4th July, will close this Friday, 2nd May.

As ever it will be oversubscribed so if you would like to attend, email BlantyreKev and Taggsy at cqnopen10IAR@gmx.co.uk before Friday.  Cost for the full day’s entertainment including golf is £80.  There are a very limited number of non-golfer evening places at £45.  Further detail will be released nearer the date and when places confirmed.

Over the course of the season I’ve read lots of comment about the values we should aspire to as a club, specifically when it comes to alleviating poverty, both in our own community, and abroad.  CQN’ers responded incredibly to our Malawi school kichen(s) appeal, which dwarfed our work at home.

The Charity Foundation are selling badges (£1 each) before the Dundee United game on 11 May to raise funds to feed the poor and hungry in and around Glasgow.  I have volunteered as a coordinator on the day and have offered to help recruit around 100 to sell badges before the game.

This will be trophy presentation day – but the trophy isn’t coming out until after the game, so you’ll not miss any of the flesh-on-silver action.

If you are able to get involved in this initiative, which strikes the core of what we think of ourselves as a Movement, email your details to cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

Thank you.

  6. As much as I enjoy Chelsea being knocked out of the CL, I have to put it into perspective.

It’s the semi final. Last 4 in the premiere club competition probably in the world.

So although we can all gloat and cheer at Mourinho’s misfortune, we would all, well at least the males on here, be willing to give up a testicle to be in the same situation.

At my age I probably wouldn’t miss it.

And if anyone reports me to Paul, I will cite his leader in my defence.

Apologies T4, it would appear my memory aint what it use to be. It was Milan v Juventus in 2003, and not Inter/Milan.

  10. Saw some stuff on here about Rankers youth team.

For as long as I care to recall our youth teams have won at U20 /21 etc.

Also for as long as I can remember, we have failed to produce a young player capable of holding down a first team player on a consistent basis.

We also seem to consistently be on the verge of bringing through a successful crop of youngsters.

I would quite gladly take getting stuffed week in week out at youth / reserve level if we were consistently producing 1/2 young players first team players every season.

  15. From SPFL re Kilmarnock complaint

Neil Doncaster, SPFL chief executive, said: “A complaint was made to the SPFL by a former employee of Kilmarnock FC regarding an alleged falsification of a signature on a document intended to be submitted to the SPFL.

“An SPFL investigation into this allegation, including an interview with the complainant and a comprehensive examination of documentation, is now complete. The SPFL has concluded that it can identify no document which included a falsified player signature or to have been otherwise irregularly completed by the club.

“The SPFL intends to take no further action on this complaint.”

I think it is one of UEFA’s rules that spectators have to be a defined distance from the field, behind the goals.
