With regard to the political leanings of Seville fans, I can find nothing conclusive. It’s true that wealthy business figures, some of them from England, were in at the beginning of the foundation of the club in the first decade of the twentieth century. I did find a reference in the club’s founding statutes that it would be a home to people of all backgrounds, without exception.
Betis were founded slightly later and quickly got into financial trouble. What appears to have saved the club was a merger with another club, Sevilla Balompié, which had a military background. I don’t really know any more. The Slask “troublemakers” are reported to have pre-arranged the confrontation and to have a background of courting trouble at various locations around Europe in the past.

Perhaps Z was only highlighting the contradictory nature of some fans waving a flag with an iconic image of a revolutionary and yet some of the same support making light over the slaughter of thousands of unarmed men by a totalitarian regime.

First of all I don’t think you can find worse climate for football fans than this in Poland at the moment. Many clubs have still have few or more hooligans and nutters among them. Football fans are very easy taget for the police, for the media and for the government. Whatever happens, fight on the street, dramatic sale of the cars football fans are to blame. As for the arrested in Seville. You are right. I read in the media about that. It started from one Slask supporter who spilled water on the policeman when Slask fans were going to the stands. Slask fans said to the media here that they were treated not well by the police when they were beaten and after that. Our diplomats confirmed accident with attacks on the bus and they were visiting those who stayed in hospitals.
I don’t say that Slask fans or my Legia fans are saints but I have no big interest in backing Slask.
BTW, Can anyone remember the name of the original guy who was the original mineshafter.
