Shakhter seem convinced they will eliminate Celtic tomorrow. Their friendly journalist explained why to Kazak readers today:
“Despite winning comfortably enough in the capital last Tuesday, Celtic remain confident of overturning the deficit in Albion (sic). Getting to the group stage is not a forbidden dream for Shakhter, it is their right as a result of recent domestic success.
“Shakhter have the mining spirit of resilience, respect and strict discipline. Glasgow also has a long mining tradition but Margaret Thatcher closed the mines in the 1980s (!). Since then, Glasgow people lost their previous spirit once and for all.
“Neil Lennon was unprepared and the Celtic defenders unable to do the job in Astana. Just like BATE Borisov, they think they will overcome the result in the second leg. Just like BATE they are still unprepared for Shakhter.
“Albion’s (sic) best managers are from Glasgow, Busby, Ferguson, Stein, Shankley, Dalglish, Moyes, but the current Celtic leadership chose a man from Ireland, Neil Lennon, who is permanently under fire from fans of the “Celts”.
“Celtic have an epidemic of injuries. Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter, Kayal and Samaras.
“The referee is from Norway. Scandinavians appreciate a tough fight. The game is a very sensitive, contact, martial arts sport. Svein Moen will understand.
“Before the game in Astana Neil Lennon said Shakhter play a very British style. Why wasn’t he able to find an antidote to this? Maybe he got Shakhter completely wrong.
“Karagandy’s three central defenders are impenetrable. They close down space and do not interfere with each other.
“The “Catholics” refuse to acknowledge that Shakhter did not miss a ball against them in the first leg. They think that because they can from 0-2 down against Inverness they can do the same against Shakhter. This is unacceptable. It will seem more absurd if the Miners open their account in Glasgow.
“In defeating BATE, Shakhter have already eliminated a higher seed than Celtic.”
Leave nothing in the dressing room, Celtic.
Charlotte Fakes
When I started Celtic Quick News in 2004 I had neither contacts nor inside information. I started writing about the accounts, which was hugely consequential but, at the time, largely ignored public information. Soon after the blog gained some momentum this changed. People would come to me with information and views which were used to direct articles.
It only took a matter of weeks to go from zero contacts to having a network of people feeding into the blog.
I have no idea how Charlotte Fakes acquired some of her early information but, with doubts over the matter, it is understandable that the media was hesitant at touching it under the shadow of Leveson.
The Charlotte Fakes story has moved on, recent revelations have nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Whyte’s mailbox. We are now in the territory of cast iron whistle-blower information. She has her own network of people feeding legally acquired information, which the whistle-blower believes is in the public interest to reveal.
Some people in the game have had their snouts in the trough for so many decades a reservoir of resentment has built up against them among those who were once collaborators but are now cast aside. You are reading the fruits of this on Charlotte Fakes.
The only question is, while the rest of the world has a new-found appreciation of the value of whistle-blowers, are ‘all the president’s men’ still prepared to look the other way in Scotland?

Jist you keep that kinda info coming bud. It is all serving to increase my confidence.
Uncooked haggis followed by a bigger pitch? Sounds good to me.
Anything to report on noise levels? How many db do we need to create to perhaps cause perforation of a Khazakstani ear drum?
BRTH
Looks like the Shaktar guys might need to run at least 10 metres more tha us, per player per 10 seconds……….or whatever the stats were!
You’ll never walk alone will be belting out shortly. That’ll also shit em up for sure.

My team for tonight. I understand Anthony Stokes is injured.
Forster
Lustig, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Izziguerra
Matthews, Brown, Ledley, Boerrigter
Commons, Watt
I agree wholeheartedly with your selection Gerry, but then again, any team without Sammi gets my vote!
Sorry Sammi-lovers, but the big man just doesn’t do it for me!
Not optimistic tonight, we’ll win, but probably not by enough, and I’ll gladly take pelters from all if I’m wrong.
Remember though, this is coming from a guy who has not had a winning coupon since February!
Livibhoy, I hope your predictions come true!

Desert Bhoy. Quite right! I’m getting fancy in my old age.
And senile.
Celtic fans have been respectful of all the great teams who’ve played at CP, but this mob are rank rotten. They were organised and prepared to nullify the way we play, so I think NFL has to really mix it up tonight…
If Sammi/Amido/Joe present an aerial threat, SK defenders will be punished when they sit deep. KC/Joe will rattle their flapper of a keeper from distance if allowed any space.
If SK push out, Derk/James/Sammi/Izzy will run behind them like a blitzkreig.
SK’s only hope is if we play with a late-wgs predictability (or give them throwins!)

I have a dream..
Or at least last night I had a dream..
Although it was a bit fuzzy, and constantly interrupted by inexplicable cameo appearances by scantily clad ex girlfriends, the upshot was that the Celts progressed on an aggregate score of 6-3 despite falling behind to an early Shaktyor goal.
Get yer money down folks!

Great point regarding size of pitch.I don’t think they are the fittest team, play Matthews and Derk., on the flanks to run at them the space will open up then the chances will be created.
BRTH
Are the figures you give for our pitch not yards?

Ignore those stats, never trust stats or statisticians.
Mind you I did hear a piece of info that stats play a very important role in genetics, and I will admit, seems completely accurate . As yet, I have been unable to contest this;
“Statistics prove that numbers of offspring is an inherited trait. If your parent didn’t have any kids, odds are you won’t either”.

I don’t think the way to beat this mob is to whip in crosses and try and take them on in an aerial battle. They are cumbersome and one dimensional. They would lap this up. What we need is sharp passing to create space for shooting, whether it be from 30 yards or 6.
Shoot on sight, Celtic.
We need to press them high up the park dont allow them time on the ball every Celtic player needs to graft we cant afford any passengers if we are to get back in to the tie.The long throw we should designate one player to stand as close to the player taking the throw as the referee will allow and of course we need belief and a big slice of luck.H.H.

Not necessarily about fitness but about the space between players — space where you can operate with the ball.
All measurements in Metres.
Someone suggesting on Twitter that the Astana Arena was narrowed last week to 68 metres in width.

Other than SFA incompetence, amateurishness etc. is there a reason why the Scottish transfer window closes 48 hours before the majority of the rest of European league?
The madness of the last day, particularly down south, occasionally throws up a possible signing not considered before. That won’t happen this year. Also what if an EPL teams makes an offer an SPFL can’t refuse on Sunday or Monday, no replacement can be signed.
—————–
Its all to favour Sevco ,so they can get there transfer ban over quicker and they can get there superstar, new signing’s playing ,are sevco playing on sunday by any chance ?
new article posted.

Thanks for the offer sir.
I canny go tonight cause I’m – skint and working tonight :(
Been going back and furrit since Neil taen over but
finding it financially out of reach the now.
Maybe some other time would be nice.
Oh, and btw, I’m a quiet reserved fella away from the keyboard.
When I come onto the Celtic Cyberspace and allow myself to be
effected by all the stuff that the ‘bhored’ are up to – or are not up to
I become totally pissed-off when I see countless guid fholk innocently
doing all that they can to support their team – then I see the ‘bhored’
parking the good ship Celtic in the ‘lay-by’ till the huns come back
I feel that my circumstances have ensured that I have – dodged a
bullet – from the ‘bhored’. Sad, but true. imo
Anyway – take care – Hail Hail – Off oot.

Looks like your playing up front, just ahead of Balde.

How p’d off is MO’N. This passion for the club needs to be replicated by the bhoys on the park tonight
Come on ye bhoys in green
emby in the awl ‘gazebo’ yet?????

Good point on pitch length. It can make a difference.
Either they fall back and defend too deep that brings on incessant pressure or they mark closer and if we hang back a tad that leaves spaces behind.
Then there is the surface. Not sure if they play on artificial all the time but playing on grass will improve or game as we will know the bounce of the ball.
It reminds of my playing days back 65 (19 not 18) when I first played on a big grass pitch in a London park after years of playing on black ash or red blaes in tight inappropriately named Glasgow Green.
My first “pass” came in chest high and I chested it down and turned quickly expecting to be hoofed into the air.
My nearest opponent was at least 6ft away!
What a season I had as a tanner baw player.
Sometimes I even gave my other team mates a touch of the ball if I got knackered.
However its about attitude and if ours is better than theirs, no amount of mutton pies will deprive us of progression into the CL.
Twists and Turns. If your parents didnt have any kids the chances are you wont either EH ? how does that work then. H.H.
Hi Bhoys,
Can anyone suggest any bars in Stavanger, Norway where I might catch the game tonight?
Stuck here for an extra day :( Nae happy.
Metres covered mean nothing – putting the ball in the net is more important.
Watched Spurs (Europa) game last Thursday. A player was off injured just before half-time and 3 of Spurs back4 knocked the ball about for the best part of 2 minutes.
The 3 Spurs players were lucky if they covered 20 metres in total…………..
the wee opposition CF (bald guy with the beard) must have covered 800 metres – playing ‘piggy’ in the middle.
The only stats that will matter at the ‘final whistle’ will be – Celtic 3+ SK 0!
Kevjungle
My appols. I didn’t check my post, was a mistake, not a slant sorry.
I sometimes before ,CL games pick the present day players in the starting line up I use the old 2 3 5 formation, and honestly it is very hard try it and you will see what I mean, most of you 30 and under prob. Won’t know wtf I am talking about ;)
Forrester
Lustig Izzy
Mathews Van D. Ambrose.
Forrest. Brown Stokes Mullgrew Commons Dirk..
That would be my team the old way lol.
Jonny the Tim
I like Samaras. Just think Derk running at them will create more openings. Sammi is brilliant on the counter attack which we won’t be doing a lot tonight. Hopefully, they’ll be chasing the game in the latter stages and then Sammi can come on to finish them off.
hope it’s like this tonight – happy happy
