Shakhter seem convinced they will eliminate Celtic tomorrow. Their friendly journalist explained why to Kazak readers today:
“Despite winning comfortably enough in the capital last Tuesday, Celtic remain confident of overturning the deficit in Albion (sic). Getting to the group stage is not a forbidden dream for Shakhter, it is their right as a result of recent domestic success.
“Shakhter have the mining spirit of resilience, respect and strict discipline. Glasgow also has a long mining tradition but Margaret Thatcher closed the mines in the 1980s (!). Since then, Glasgow people lost their previous spirit once and for all.
“Neil Lennon was unprepared and the Celtic defenders unable to do the job in Astana. Just like BATE Borisov, they think they will overcome the result in the second leg. Just like BATE they are still unprepared for Shakhter.
“Albion’s (sic) best managers are from Glasgow, Busby, Ferguson, Stein, Shankley, Dalglish, Moyes, but the current Celtic leadership chose a man from Ireland, Neil Lennon, who is permanently under fire from fans of the “Celts”.
“Celtic have an epidemic of injuries. Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter, Kayal and Samaras.
“The referee is from Norway. Scandinavians appreciate a tough fight. The game is a very sensitive, contact, martial arts sport. Svein Moen will understand.
“Before the game in Astana Neil Lennon said Shakhter play a very British style. Why wasn’t he able to find an antidote to this? Maybe he got Shakhter completely wrong.
“Karagandy’s three central defenders are impenetrable. They close down space and do not interfere with each other.
“The “Catholics” refuse to acknowledge that Shakhter did not miss a ball against them in the first leg. They think that because they can from 0-2 down against Inverness they can do the same against Shakhter. This is unacceptable. It will seem more absurd if the Miners open their account in Glasgow.
“In defeating BATE, Shakhter have already eliminated a higher seed than Celtic.”
Leave nothing in the dressing room, Celtic.
Charlotte Fakes
When I started Celtic Quick News in 2004 I had neither contacts nor inside information. I started writing about the accounts, which was hugely consequential but, at the time, largely ignored public information. Soon after the blog gained some momentum this changed. People would come to me with information and views which were used to direct articles.
It only took a matter of weeks to go from zero contacts to having a network of people feeding into the blog.
I have no idea how Charlotte Fakes acquired some of her early information but, with doubts over the matter, it is understandable that the media was hesitant at touching it under the shadow of Leveson.
The Charlotte Fakes story has moved on, recent revelations have nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Whyte’s mailbox. We are now in the territory of cast iron whistle-blower information. She has her own network of people feeding legally acquired information, which the whistle-blower believes is in the public interest to reveal.
Some people in the game have had their snouts in the trough for so many decades a reservoir of resentment has built up against them among those who were once collaborators but are now cast aside. You are reading the fruits of this on Charlotte Fakes.
The only question is, while the rest of the world has a new-found appreciation of the value of whistle-blowers, are ‘all the president’s men’ still prepared to look the other way in Scotland?

It’s the kernel of the dream that’s important – that’s what you should focus on – the seed, the core if you will.
And that for me says we are signing the present President of the United States of America.
Back Page. Front Page.
God Bless You Peter Lawell!!!!!
I think that’s what it means.
U
Huge game of course tonight.
If for no other or lesser reason than I can’t remember a time when the relationship between this board and the support was on such a knife edge.
Get through tonight and get in a couple of quality players on the back of the CL involvement and things are likely to settle down.
Fail to qualify tonight and we are likely to see a level of dissatisfaction not seen in years.
Failure is simply not an option.
Uly
God bless the Celtics.
God bless America.
Fholks
They may open up and go for the killer from the off- I sense we may lose an early goal and doubt we can go 90 without conceding at least one
Sooooooo
I’m putting my dosh on 4-1 or 5-1 for the green team!!
Paradise was made for nights like tonight

After the first leg I thought Balde could be the difference this game as they are very poor from cross balls, especially the keeper. However Saturday convinced me Balde is no where near ready for the SPFL let alone Europe. A longer term project than we first thought I think.
—————————–
Saturday was the one and only time I’ve seen Balde , live or otherwise.
I saw nothing to convince me that he’s worth persisting with.
I cant judge him totally on one game alone of course but …
Kayal
Like most of us I’ve not seen enough of Balde to decide how good or how weffective in the short term he’s going to be for us.
However, tonight we need a minimum of 2 goals in the regulation 90 minutes and as a consequence we need to start the game with, at the very least, one recognised striker on the park. Yes Balde has looked raw and cumbersome on occasions but I saw enough of him against Liverpool to convince me that he has enough to upset Karagandy this evening.
I’d go against the grain and actually start Commons up front beside him.
Thunder Road condolences.

My penny’s worth for tonight. 4-4-2. Assuming fitness.
When you try to pick a team there’s really no way you can do it without taking untested positional gambles. Hence Lustig In the central defensive pairing, where I gather he’s played before at either his previous club or at international level. Mathews is form player so has to start also.
I think Lennon’s only gamble therefore is in Central defence. Stokes has proved he can score goals against teams of similar stature and, for me, needs to start.
The game may well last more than the 90 so the full squad including Efe, Balde, Watt, Virgil, Forrest etc. may well need to play their part too.
Oops! Nearly forgot the twelfth man. Insert your name on the dotted line at the bottom.

I would venture to interpret your dream in a slightly different way from Uly.
You say Barach Obama scored the fifth for Celtic. I have an explanation. Virgil Van Dyke is Barach Obama’s spitting image. FACT.

Deepest condolences to you and your family.
If Stokes is not fit tonight and the Dutchman is I reckon he will play through the middle. He has said he can play there when he was signed.
Massive night for the Hoops. 4-0 No problems.

I know we were poor in last game, but we could have still won with chances we had, can’t see anything but a ‘doing’ for them today, just hope the defence does thier job better than they have of late.

I think the fact we are discussing is Balde ready for tonight, is Stokes fit for tonight, will Watt come off the naughty step for tonight, highlights where the real problem rests.
We get through, a massive gamble has paid off and hopefully we see Alfie Finnbogasson make his debut at Tannadice on Saturday, fail to get through and all hell will break loose.
I’m nervous as hell but I bet Peter Lawwell will be on the toilet as I type.
Kayal33
I’d agree with all of that but my original point still stands, we do have striker options but it is imperative that they’re utilised effectively.

According to the rags he’s in London speaking to FC Ashod over the signing of Nir Bisot
Balde has come from a far stronger league than the spfl.
Now is his time . He would surely have converted one of those chances that went begging in the early part of the first leg.

That’s my team maybe stick Sammy out right and Commons off Balde and bench Rogic. But we need creativity and balls into box from wide areas. Commons and Borreigter would do that with Mathhews. Rogic creativity to open them up
With Lenny banging on the door telling him to hurry up. Scrunched-up discarded Team line ups for toilet roll for Lenny, discarded profit projection print outs for Pedro.
This is when Dirk Boeriggter gets instant hero status of fans.
Script set for him to tear them aprt with his pace and power.
