Kazaks disparage Neil, Celtic preparations. Charlotte Fakes

1247

Shakhter seem convinced they will eliminate Celtic tomorrow.  Their friendly journalist explained why to Kazak readers today:

“Despite winning comfortably enough in the capital last Tuesday, Celtic remain confident of overturning the deficit in Albion (sic).  Getting to the group stage is not a forbidden dream for Shakhter, it is their right as a result of recent domestic success.

“Shakhter have the mining spirit of resilience, respect and strict discipline.  Glasgow also has a long mining tradition but Margaret Thatcher closed the mines in the 1980s (!).  Since then, Glasgow people lost their previous spirit once and for all.

“Neil Lennon was unprepared and the Celtic defenders unable to do the job in Astana.  Just like BATE Borisov, they think they will overcome the result in the second leg.  Just like BATE they are still unprepared for Shakhter.

“Albion’s (sic) best managers are from Glasgow, Busby, Ferguson, Stein, Shankley, Dalglish, Moyes, but the current Celtic leadership chose a man from Ireland, Neil Lennon, who is permanently under fire from fans of the “Celts”.

“Celtic have an epidemic of injuries.  Stokes, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter, Kayal and Samaras.

“The referee is from Norway.  Scandinavians appreciate a tough fight.  The game is a very sensitive, contact, martial arts sport.  Svein Moen will understand.

“Before the game in Astana Neil Lennon said Shakhter play a very British style.  Why wasn’t he able to find an antidote to this?  Maybe he got Shakhter completely wrong.

“Karagandy’s three central defenders are impenetrable.  They close down space and do not interfere with each other.

“The “Catholics” refuse to acknowledge that Shakhter did not miss a ball against them in the first leg.  They think that because they can from 0-2 down against Inverness they can do the same against Shakhter.  This is unacceptable.  It will seem more absurd if the Miners open their account in Glasgow.

“In defeating BATE, Shakhter have already eliminated a higher seed than Celtic.”

Leave nothing in the dressing room, Celtic.

Charlotte Fakes

When I started Celtic Quick News in 2004 I had neither contacts nor inside information.  I started writing about the accounts, which was hugely consequential but, at the time, largely ignored public information.  Soon after the blog gained some momentum this changed.  People would come to me with information and views which were used to direct articles.

It only took a matter of weeks to go from zero contacts to having a network of people feeding into the blog.

I have no idea how Charlotte Fakes acquired some of her early information but, with doubts over the matter, it is understandable that the media was hesitant at touching it under the shadow of Leveson.

The Charlotte Fakes story has moved on, recent revelations have nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Whyte’s mailbox.  We are now in the territory of cast iron whistle-blower information.  She has her own network of people feeding legally acquired information, which the whistle-blower believes is in the public interest to reveal.

Some people in the game have had their snouts in the trough for so many decades a reservoir of resentment has built up against them among those who were once collaborators but are now cast aside.  You are reading the fruits of this on Charlotte Fakes.

The only question is, while the rest of the world has a new-found appreciation of the value of whistle-blowers, are ‘all the president’s men’ still prepared to look the other way in Scotland?

  1. We need to play with drive, energy & purpose tonight from the 1st to the 90th minute. We can do it.

Expect them to play the same again , 5 at back punt it long for their forward to play for a free kick or throw in. Our central defence must ensure they combate this.

Would like our midfiled to have some long range shots early to bring their midfield further up the park, creating space in front of their central defence for Commons (if fit) to create openings for our number 9 (Balde/Watt/Stokes depends who is fit)

I think we are in for a roller coaster of a night with the Bhoys more than capable of turning this round.

I was at the game on Saturday and thought Tony Watt played OK and I’ve noticed that some others thought the same. No one around me in the stadium seemed to have a go at him at all during the 90 minutes. I’ve also noticed that some posters share your opinion.

I would be very happy if Tony played tonight.

Can you tell me what you felt was wrong with his attitude on Saturday?

Sammi will definitely play. Where he plays is up for debate but he will definitely play (if fit obviously).

What I meant was that I’d play a front two of Balde and Commons but with Kris just behind him (causing chaos!!!!)

  6. Opportunity knocks for a few players tonight to become heroes.

Also a test for Lenny’s tactics.

Not sure we need two strikers – they scored two over there using only one frontman,

Key for me is the entire team showing a wee bit more composure than in past few games.

Thinks we’ll make it OK with Efe and ML being among the scorers. I would play Adam in midfield with Charlie partnering Efe at CB.

BIg concerne with Izzy of late. Now’s the time for him and big Frazer to come good.

    I think they will.

    Now, where’s that ticket again?

Not what I said; just a feeling that these guys could score tonight so I take it this was a wee but of your humour.

Of course we need a quality striker. A disgrace that we don’t have one for a game as important as tonight when our season will be shaped.

Anyway, found the ticket…. Enjoy the game.

If he starts fair enough, but I wouldn’t say he is a cert. to start, just look at the permutations from tonight’s starting line up the guys in here at CQN think will be the team, no certs. IMHO

  13. TheOriginalSadiesBhoy on

One of the things that give me hope for tonight and I haven’t noticed anyone on here make much of it is that in the last round when Shaktyer played an Albanian team, after winning their home game by 3-0, they themselves went 3-0 down in Albania inside the first 30 minutes. They were able to claw their way back into the game and score 2 goals of their own to qualify.

I think we can also rattle them early on and if we get the magic 3 goals, shut up shop for a while and hit them on the break for the all important 4 th goal.

See it’s easy when you know how. :-))

  14. Emm drat, Anto still injured sort of reduces our goal scoring forward count to 0 and even if Stokes were fit nothing is guaranteed Anto either being unplayable or total mince. Lenny has a bit of a decision to make regarding what attacking formation can he put out when reduced to a forward pair with one competitive goal in 10+ games between them. Who would be a manager?

The other two goals never came from him though :-)

That is a tad embarrassing for Celtic you would have thought that a few hospitality gifts could have been handed out. Most of them were probably made close to Kasakhstan in Chinese factories anyway. Brings back memories of Fergus’s early days. Can’t remember the team Celtic were playing in a friendly. Celtic took to the field in the 1st half resplendent in the new home kit only to reappear in the second half wearing last season’s kits for swapping. There was some lame excuse given out at the time that no one bought into but it was cringe worthy and funny at the same time.

Something that may have a serious effect tonight is the size of the pitch.

Shaktar’s home stadium measures 104 Metres by 72 Metes.

The Astana Arena where they played the home match measures 102 Metres by 72 Metres.

Celtic Park measures 115 metres by 75 metres.

It might not seem much, but if you are planning on packing a defence that is a lot more ground to cover, and a lot more space between your players.

I don’t think, in fitness terms, the size of the pitch will make a big difference to Shaktor tonight. If you look at the stats Paul67 posted last week after the first leg they covered much more ground than our guys. The Celtic players need to show a lot more movement than last week though.
