Level of professionalism enveloping Celtic

404

If the Premiership divides into four groups:

Celtic: 8 points clear at the top with 67 games in hand.

Hearts, Newco and Aberdeen: within 2 points of each other in the battle for two Europa League games in June 2017.

St Johnstone: isolated in the middle of an 8 point bubble.

The rest: all 2 points from the automatic relegation spot.

Then Motherwell top their group.  They have infinitely more to play for than Celtic at Fir Park tomorrow.  For them, this is about livelihoods.

We have an early kick-off at what will be a hostile environment.   Arrive with your war face on, Celtic, and get the job done.

Pretty stunning work by the Celtic commercial team, who, alone against the nation’s major retailers, were promoted by The Telegraph as one of The best Christmas 2016 adverts.  A level of professionalism is beginning to envelop the club (and I know it’s not there completely yet).

  2. BMCUWP,

I m sorry that I missed your call yesterday but I was in the BV with the Bhoys and never heard my phone ringing. I couldn’t call back.

Can I email/ phone you maybe Sunday lunchtime ?

I had a really great time with the cqnrs on Friday afternoon, and sadly cos of my transport situation I had to leave just after five.

The Bhoys looked like they were just getting started, plenty of informative conversations on the football .

Great bunch and I look forward to meeting up with them again real soon.

    Cheers for now mate.

  3. Good morning CQN from an overcast Catterick, currently 5*C. I’m looking forward to today’s game which I will probably watch in the solitude of my “cell” ;-)

I recently loaded Kodi onto my laptop, currently running Windows 10, and I must say that this is far superior to using a Kodi Android box. I watched the Arabs v Hibs game last night and had a fairly good picture with no buffering.

I shall watch our game today using the same medium and let you know how that is.

It’s a pity I missed the BV yesterday but I’m sure Old Tim didn’t miss having to tell the ”foghorn” off every 5 minutes.

Deidco December points selection made I just hope I am wrong and it is lower :-)

Anyhoos everybody have a great weekend and nae bickering.

Guid day to be in the Cellic end of the enclosure for ye

March 1986 Huns 4-4 Cellic what a game!

I was in the blue seats in the Broomloan Upper, what a view of wee Murdo’s magical hunskelping equalizer!

Mo Johnston was the king of the magical Jungle in those days…the huns feared him.

What he did was unforgivable but,…afore he drank oot the devils bowl he was one of our best – at that time.

Tommy Burns(RIP) scored a magical goal in that game, what a player he was.

Anyway,…last time that I was in the enclosure, Chris Morris scored in the 1st minute and then we ended up being cuffed 4-1….the start of the horrible times. Boo! Hiss!

Hope all is well with you Jobo, yer one of the best God bless.

McCOURT 7 -Sorry to read of yer news pal

Thoughts and Prayers for all who are close.

  7. GMS could be a – Ray Houghton / Lubo / Mix – if, Brendan sprinkles his magic dust onto him and, he bulks up like James Forrest has….imho

Paddy could be a – Wee-Super-Joe-Miller-Kevin-Gallacher-Mix – if, Brendan play’s him ‘aff’ the main striker….imho.

Ah wisny too keen on Izzy before Brendan turned him into a ‘possession-conscious-savvy-heided-performer’ that looks more at himself than he has done at any time since his bad injury….imho.

Still looking for some magic dust for Cifcti(sp) who I think could be a useful Big-Handful-Oot-Baw-Type….imho.

After all, Brendan is usually no too bad with his handling of strikers with a bit of bite aboot them.

Something is being done right on the training pitch.

Ah mean, how many injuries have the usually always injured Lustig and,….more importantly,…the for a long time mis-managed James Forrest, who got a few injuries coz he was being played the wrong way….imho.

    Still work to be done,….Brendan.

Ah mean, Cellic teams play with 2 strikers…ALL THE TIME!!!!

Big Efe is better that Bitton or, McGregor and, would make Broony even better….he’d be Cellic’s Yaya Toure.

    Joost open yer eye’s,….Brendan.

How good are you really,….Brendan ?

Ah mean, £45k a week to shoot fish in a barrel and all the happy-clapping-seals will look the ither way from the PLC’s sleekit collusion in the formation of the ACT….that we get peddled awe these petitions aboot…..making oot that we’re hard done by.

Maybe one day the petition peddlers will come clean and telll yeez all – who actually rubber stamped the authentic Celtic PLC, colluded, kowtowing, churchill nodding dogs styleee agreement ?

Then again,….maybe there have been more souls selt than we previously realized ?

    Who knows ?

    Who cares ?

Am all right Jack Uber Tim Until The Last Rebel P#sh – CSC.

I got home just after 7pm, but I’m really glad that I had that opportunity to meet the Bhoys and hope to catch up with you again very soon ?

As long as none of the Bhoys ended up in the nick for being drunk and disorderly ( in other words just for being Celtic fans ) ?

Pleasure to meet you yesterday big fella. I was sensible and took the opportunity of a lift from the missus about 8.

  14. According to SKY Sinclair is still out injured. Pretty sure Forrest will start after his performance at Hampden.

Today marks the start of a very busy month for the Champions.

    Celtic to win 2-0.

  15. Here we go again…very busy month and day ahead. No gym today as the lower back is giving me some gyp. So off to the parents, bit of shopping then down the road to cheers on the Hoops.

A bit peeved that El Clasico is not live on telly here, but I read earlier in the week that the president of La Primera Liga was quite forthright in saying that the afternoon kick off meant that they could maximise TV revenue from the Americas and the Far East. Pure commercial interest, and it suits the Spanish fans also.

Not long before the EPL will be kicking off at all sorts of times to suit the Chinese paymasters.

    Have a good day everyone.

I believe he had a close friend on board the plane that came down and knew a few others who lost their lives.

It would appear that the company which ran the plane was cutting corners on the fuel and that one of the company owners was the pilot who flew the plane at the very edge of the fuel range.

Very sad and an utter disgrace.

Always a pleasure to catch up face to face with real Celtic bhoys (welcome to the madhouse Big Jimmy) and to absorb ‘knowledge nuggets’ from my extremely knowledgable table mates which do not seem to percolate along the M8 to the rarified air of Embra.

An absolute privilege to break bread in such erudite and convivial company. Heartfelt thanks all, especially PF Ayr for pulling it all together again.

    What an interesting letter.

Swallex’s comments on the Big Cup reveal the origins of the mephistophelean pact he must have made to have won that final with Bayern München, and the shoot-out with Chelsea some years later!

  23. Marrakesh Express on

Thought I’d have another look at our spread of 100 trophies to reconvince myself of something I’ve (we’ve) known for years.

    1888-1964 won 40.

    1965-2016 won 60.

The period 1928-64 saw us win 10 trophies, that’s 1 every 3.5 years. Same period saw Oldco lift 49.

Struth took over 1872 club in 1920, around the same time as the influx of Belfast shipyard workers to Govan. Their staunch anti Irish RC baggage fitted in perfectly will Struth’s vision of leading Rfc 1872 to dominance on the back of what was nothing less than a Religious Apartheid ticket. We know the rest.

My earliest recollection of Celtic is from 62/63, losing to the likes of Thirds and Falkirk, but my most vivid memory, almost drummed into me, was my old man going on about unbelievable refereeing and SFA bias in the 40s and 50s. His stories never left me. He’s 84 now and can still rhyme them off.

How many trophies were we done out of in those dark days? How many were won fairly by Oldco to give a count of 49-10?

If Craig Thompson and Steven McLean can blatantly cheat in front of 10 TV cameras, what was it like in the days of no cameras?

Sevconians go on about 54. We hit back with the valid argument of minus tainted titles. I’d suggest their trophy haul is far more bent than even many of us realise.

We are forever indebted to Jock Stein and the scouts and coaches who gave us the Lisbon lions, McGrain Dalglish and more. They more than evened up the odds that were stacked against us in Scotland for decades.

I’d wager that every Sevconian today, in their heart of hearts, would swap places with us.
