Lions Roar, the last giant standing, CQN Mag is out!

824

Issue 16 of CQN Magazine is out today and (in my never humble opinion) is our best yet.  We are right up to date, with coverage of the Scottish Cup final.  Phil Mac Giolla Bhain gives historical perspective on Celtic’s position as the last apex in the game.

You’ve ready plenty of great stories of how people got their tickets Seville and we bring you a very Celtic story on how one man got his.  Did you notice we’ve mentioned Willie Wallace a bit recently?  Some of the reasons why are covered by two of Scotland’s best writers, Brogan Hogan and Archie MacPherson, excerpts of their contributions to Heart of a Lion are here for you.

There are lots more great articles….. including our cover theme, The Lions Roar Again Event.  The remaining Lisbon Lions are back at Celtic Park for a Q&A and Lisbon film show, in aid of 1254125.  The first event was one of those special Celtic occasions, if you missed it, make sure you get along this time.

Opportunities like this don’t come along often.  Book your tickets for the event here, bring the family.

DON’T TRY TO READ THE MAGAZINE FROM THE GRAPHC BELOW, that is just a teaser.  For a proper read, go here.  Use the navigation buttons at the bottom to flick through pages or zoom in.

Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson says it is not too late for Celtic to launch a late bid for Derby County-bound striker Johnny Russell.

The former Scotland Under-21 forward is due at Pride Park on Monday for a medical after agreeing terms with the Championship side but rumours of Celtic’s interest continue.

Thompson said: “Until everything is signed and sealed, nothing is concluded – but we have agreed terms with Derby County. I know their chief executive Sam Rush has spoken to Johnny’s agent and they are pretty close to agreeing terms. But he has to go there for a medical on Monday, so you never know. Anything can happen in this game.”

    5. After a very long series of meetings between the SPL, the SFA and Duff and Phelps on Thursday, April 26, 2012, Bill Miller called the bluff of the football authorities and said they were not conceding enough and he was out. According to Clark or Whitehouse, the football authorities at this point suffered an involuntary bowel movement and dropped some of the obstacles they were putting up.

It seems from the tapes that Chuckles appeared at the eleventh hour. However did he not say to the media that he had been involved months earlier?

I have drawn the opposite conclusion. I thought it was all planned for months, but listening to these tapes, it strikes me as a seat-of-the-pants thing just as Bill Miller or Brian Kennedy were preparing to seal a deal.

    ———–

From what I’ve heard of the tapes so far, one thing that stood out was the assertion that ‘HMRC are very clear they want liquidation and will want to appoint their own liquidator’ and also ‘Its too late now for a CVA’. This all apparently on 1st May 2012. Didn’t Charles Green at a much later date come out fuming because he said that HMRC had given no indication they would block a CVA?

    —————————–

This is an important point …… and needs claifying …….

The HMRC position was known in advance ………..

CW – D&P kept up the pretence that CVA was still possible…… from last nights tapes they were hoping that HMRC would see the light and change tact …. was never going to happen though …

CG was unaware until later in the CW negotiations ….. but enough time when finally did, to conjure up plan B … novation route via Sevco Scotland (incorporated 29th) ….. CG informed CW that FFW (Patrick Cannon) was setting up Scottish Comp …. when CW quiered … CG mentioned requirement for Scottish Comp ….. and hid behind the now infamous …… You are Sevco … !

    CW did’nt ask ….. which ? …. both ? …..

Show Us the ‘Patrick’ docs ……………

Kenny Selfish has only ever done what was best for Kenny Selfish.

Including taking the chief scout role at Ayebrokes , when it suited him.

I can still see him in his Rangers blazer and club tie , when he bragged about signing Seb Rozental.

He inherited a Liverpool side that was full of champions and ruined it.

He had more money than any other manager at Blackburn.

Thereafter he has spent and wasted collosal amounts of money at clubs and left them in financial acrimony .

He was a truly world class player.

I just don’t like his selfish streak and the size of his ego.

It does seem that way but i’m not wholy convinced at the validity of some of the content on these tapes?

  16. South Of Tunis on

I never had any doubt that the Scottish ” football authorities ” would do their utmost to accommodate and facilitate The Hun . .

The only question was the degree to which other Scottish football clubs and the supporters of said clubs would allow that to happen . That question continues to hang in the air.

No arguement from me afrer he left celtic but he gave us more than macari as a player.

  19. Nicholas Witchell provoked royal displeasure in 2005. Whilst at a press conference at the Swiss ski resort of Klosters, Witchell asked The Prince of Wales how he and his sons were feeling about his forthcoming marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles. After a response from his son Prince William, the Prince of Wales said under his breath, and referring to Witchell, “These bloody people. I can’t bear that man. I mean, he’s so awful, he really is.” Witchell himself was then in the headlines. The BBC defended their reporter saying “He is one of our finest. His question was perfectly reasonable under the circumstances”.

  25. Hello there, Timland.

I have seen this blog on in the house almost every day, or there abouts when the nephews and neices are around, so after much goading they’ve got me to register and make a post to say that I have spoken to the,Internet Bampots – no offense intended.

I’m trying see if someone could put me in contact with some poster whose blog in name had some reference to the 1980 SCF riot, as I would like to find out if I new this person.

Some of the stuff that he / she posted on here certainly reminded me of that game as, I was there with most of the folk who left John Ogilvie High in Hamilton in May 1980.

My nerves are shattered trying to type this post in case of spelling mistakes, or something else I might have done wrong.

I would like to say that, some of the stuff that the young yins put on the screen for auldie’s like me to see are brilliant. Paul67, whoever you are God Bless you sir.

Phil Mac and the rest of the army of bampots are the heroes that i have dreamed about for all these years.

The amount of things revealed on here, it won’t be long until there is a campaign for the Justice Of The 125 Years.

It’s surreal to be on here and Love – Peace – Luck – to all of you. Thank you again.

    Hail Hail

  27. As a player, KD gave Celtic ten years of his career.

He never short changed the club or the support. In fact, he could have left a year earlier, but stayed on give some stability to the team, during Jock’s imposition.

His stature as a Celtic player is inviolate.

How and what he did thereafter, or any personality characteristics he demonstrated , are totally irrelevant and in no way compare to the lack of loyalty shown by Macari, Hay and the unfortunate Connolly.

Kenny Dalglish is a Celtic playing legend.
