CELTIC will take on Sudava in their bid to reach the group stages of the Europa League after their old foes edged past Spartaks Jurmala, of Latvia.

The Lithuanian champions held on for a goalless draw at home this evening to win 1-0 after their success away from home last week.

The Hoops faced Suduva on their march to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville. Martin O’Neill’s team hammered them 8-1 in Glasgow with goals from Henrik Larsson (3), Stan Petrov, Chris Sutton, Paul Lambert, John Hartson and Joos Valagaeren.

David Fernandez and Alan Thompson netted in the away tie.

Brendan Rodgers’ side dropped into the Europa League play-off after a 3-2 aggregate defeat by AEK Athens in the Champions League third qualifying round.

The first leg will be a week tonight in Lithuania with the return at Parkhead the following Thursday.
