Living within your means still resisted

Michel Platini’s Financial Fair Play initiative at Uefa has been one of the more inspiring developments at the top of our game for decades.  It brought spending into line with income throughout the English game and punished what Platini called financial doping.

It has been so effective, Platini now promises to relax the rules.  The blame does not all sit with Platini.  Uefa are dealing with 10 legal challenges to the rules, with complainant clubs citing European Law in their defence.  The big football powers are split.  The English appear in favour of FPP (Manchester City aside), while many stressed clubs across Europe are in opposition.

The concept of living within your means is still resisted in our game, not just in barred hold-outs in Scotland.

Suggesting people are scared because they are outraged is IMO suggesting they are cowards to deflect from your initial stance that outrage is anything else but outrage.

I think you’re getting mixed up with the different clubs, of course they have a right to exist. For me to say they have no right to exist might border on sectarianism and I am not that way inclined.

They have every right to exist, they do not have the right to intimidate and receive favour over others though.

You are fed up being shafted by the SFA since King was passed as fit and proper?

If you have concrete evidence then we can go at the SFA. Unfortunately they are sleekit and UEFA, FIFA and every court in the world would laugh out any claims as worthless. We must get behind the club and take the lot of them on together. The team need and deserve our backing.

All for people not going to away matches and Hampden but Celtic Park should be bursting at the seams.

    offensive to me…

the ratio of peodophiles is higher within social work than the catholic church going by statistics available but you have a pop at catholocism…hmmmm

(before any social workers have a go…I could have picked a few other lines of work

    going by the stats.)

  6. Canamalar,

Oh Im aware of that being in the industry myself I would say they are ongoing investigations. They arent cover ups.

There are many of these places that have scandals and issues and more will be exposed. More to do with poor care, abuse and neglect.

What is the link to the Lodge?

Protecting the brotherhood? something I’m not part of, why would I protect it.

I’m merely giving a little insight to waffle about the lodge on here, that doesn’t mean I support it and am protecting it. otherwise Id join.

Celtic supporters have been backing the club since the day it was born, for the past 50 years and more we have been cheated on a regular basis. Our support of Celtic does not stop the cheating, it never will. The only way to stop the cheating is to take away their air supply and they spell air – coin.

To think anything else will change their ways is naïve.

You could always something about it yourself. Get organised with like-minded people and put pressure on the governing body.

That’s my point….CP is not bursting at the seams, because loads of Celtic fans are not happy.

They don’t feel as though their concerns are being addressed.

    Who can blame them.

  10. LiviBhoy:

I’ve met and like DD, I also like Peter Lawwell, their are many more on our past boards I have travelled to European away games with and I quite liked them. Don’t confuse my concerns with my liking or disliking somebody, that really is naïve.

Schism. Avoid it at all costs.

It is a means of dividing us,traducing us,shafting us.

Any effort to introduce schism amongst our support should see us mobilising everything we have against it.

We certainly don’t need it being aided by the self-righteous.

    Fair points. OK

You are a lot closer to the board and the top men than me.

Ae you talking about a boycott of Celtic Park?

    Genuine question.

It is packed for the big games though. A good team on the pitch will fill the stadium.

And who says I haven’t been trying to do something about it?

Do I seem to you….like someone who wouldn’t be active in opposing something I feel strongly about?

  14. Livibhoy,

You keep going back to the mantra that anyone giving up their ST are hurting their own club in protest at another club, which obviously fits how you see things, problem being that is not exactly true.

I expect quite a few are hurting the club because they simply feel the club no longer represent them and therefore no longer care.

There are most likely more who are actually doing it not because of another club but because of the SFA and the corruption.

But in every case none see it as hurting the club, each and every one sees it as their choice to spend their money any way they see fit and if they don’t believe they are getting their money’s worth who are you or anyone else to accuse them of hurting the club, as you continue to tell us the board are and will look out for the club, if the board cannot convince people to buy into supporting the club then that is wholly their responsibility, so don’t go blaming people who are not convinced that the board are not doing their best, blame the board.

You are entitled to your opinion. IMO you are wrong. A boxer can feel feer going into the ring – no matter how well-prepared. An actor can be fearful of goin on-stage – no matter how well they’ve learnt their lines. Neither is necessarily a coward. I didn’t call anyone a coward. Being disingenuous in the way you have by deliberately misquoting me isn’t a good argument. Must try harder. C-minus.

  17. LiviBhoy:

I would not ever advocate and encourage a boycott of Celtic, I do hope that people look inwards and take appropriate action and are at peace with their conscience without veiling it in hypocrisy.

Their are many ways to hurt the SFA, I’m not advocating hurting Celtic though until they support decency I’m not going to give them any more of my money.

  22. Natknow,

  23. Canamalar

No I did not say that. People give their tickets up for a whole host of reasons.

If someone is giving it up because of Rangers/Sevco/The SFA then I don;t understand that though but it is everyone’s right to do so.

I personally think that everyone needs to calm down a wee bit.

King was passed as fit and proper because they clearly had to within the rules of UK companies.

I’m not sure what anyone could do to prevent that.

I am unable to blame the board for anything to be honest because I believe they are doing what is best for Celtic. That is my opinion on it.

    kitalba

Add to that list the kick off times, the people I know who have given up are doing so because games are being shifted for TV.

You don’t get your monies worth from your SB because the games are played on a Sunday or mid week.

I was considering not to purchase mine but will before Friday.

  26. I gave up 2 season books due to the lack of games at 3 on a Saturday.

The club asked me in surveys (TWICE) “What would cause you to give up your season book?”

Answer, games moved for random reasons from 3 on a Saturday.

I think this season we will have had FOUR 3 o clock Saturday games.

The club obviously don’t need my money………fair do’s, I’m a LOT better off.

  27. Someone mentions CP “bursting at the seams” – like it, or, not, all those who would hold Celtic responsible an complicit for the shennanigans associated with the Ibrox ‘occupants’ – the ONLY time that CP will again be “bursting at the seams”, is when those self-same ‘occupants’ come calling- let’s not kid ourselves.

  28. Aye robert88,

Is all them catholics fault, you really nailed it eh

  29. LiviBhoy:

I don’t give a toss about King or his team, I knew like most he’d get the nod. It is the concentrated breaking of so many rules by a so called impartial authority that winds me up.

That and people confusing the issue of a corrupt authority with a crap football club playing out of Ibrox.

The timings are a huge issue, its effected me a lot with flights etc.

That is one of the biggest factors for a lot of people, TV seems to hold the club to ransom on that one, so its difficult for the club, but I genuinely feel if more 3pm Kick off’s more would turn up, same on away days not just at home.
